A meeting of the depositors, along with farmers, took place at Kalidas Kalamandir. During the meeting, the defaulting farmers and their representatives emphasised the need for a complete waiver of loan and interest. However, the NDCC Bank administration, under the leadership of Vidyadhar Anaskar, the administrator of Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank appointed as organisational advisor of NDCC Bank, said that their demand would also be placed in front of the state govt.
"State agriculture minister Manikrao Kokate was also present at the meeting, where the depositors demanded their deposits back. There were farmers opposing govt-suggested OTS, which would still incur a loss to the bank but nevertheless help the bank retain its banking licence," said NDCC Bank administrator Santosh Bidwai while briefing the media after the meeting.
According to the new OTS, farmers who want to benefit from the scheme will have to settle their outstanding loans with interest rates announced in the AGM.
It will come into effect when the govt approves the proceedings of the AGM.
As per the new OTS, farmers with total outstanding up to Rs 1 lakh will have to pay 2 per cent interest, up to Rs 5 lakh will attract a 4 percent rate of interest, up to Rs 10 lakh will attract a 5 percent rate of interest, and beyond Rs 10 lakh will attract a 6 percent rate of interest.
"The outstanding loans of farmers accrued interest charged at prevailing rates for the first three years before the accounts were declared as non-performing assets (NPA) due to non-payment of dues.

As of now, this amount has accrued further interest. But as per the new OTS, the amount at the time of being declared as NPA falling in respective slabs will attract a particular rate of interest," another senior officer said.
"This is the best possible scheme that the govt could offer to the defaulters, and the intention is to save the bank. It will take another four years for us to implement and clear the current outstanding. Besides, we are also seeking govt infusion of cash that will help us provide loans to people who need it to ensure we generate some more additional income. This can save the banking licence of NDCC Bank," the officer added.

Centre should spend more on education: VIT founder

VELLORE: Highlighting the long-standing demand to allocate 6% of the country's GDP to education, the founder and chancellor of Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) Dr G Viswanathan, said that the central government should spend more on education, noting that only 3% is currently spent. He was speaking at the 40th convocation of the institute on Saturday. 'In the 2025-26 budget, the central government allocated only 2.5% of its Rs 55 lakh crore budget for education. With 4.3 crore students currently enrolled in higher education in India, the new education policy aims to achieve a 50 % gross enrolment ratio, requiring the student count to rise to 8 crore. This requires more classrooms, infrastructure and funding,' he said.

Prabhas' The Raja Saab Producers Clarify Worker Dues Amid Legal Trouble: 'The Delay Occurred Due To…'

Last Updated: People Media Factory says Rs 1 crore is still due to Prabhas' The Raja Saab workers and will be paid directly to their bank accounts. Prabhas Movie The Raja Saab: People Media Factory (PMF) has issued a statement clarifying worker payment issues on the Prabhas-starrer The Raja Saab. The production house confirmed that approximately Rs 60 crore has been paid to daily wage workers over the past year, with around Rs 1 crore still pending from schedules in July. PMF addressed comments made by outsiders in a statement. 'People Media Factory has disbursed approximately Rs 60 crores over the past 12 months towards daily wage workers engaged in BTL/production activities. In addition, around Rs 1 crore remains payable in relation to schedules worked during July. This amount of Rs 60 crore does not include monthly contract associates who are on monthly remuneration across various crafts, which accounts for an additional Rs 30 crores. These contract associates' payments are fully current. Furthermore, this figure excludes the remunerations of key technicians, artists, vendors, VFX teams, and location-related expenses," the statement read. It continued, 'It is therefore both inaccurate and inappropriate for unrelated individuals or self-proclaimed federation/union leaders to make public statements regarding internal company payments. People Media Factory has no agreements or financial obligations with any federations/unions and consequently holds no dues to them." PMF confirmed that the remaining Rs 1 crore will be paid directly into workers' bank accounts this week. 'The delay has occurred due to the unavailability of workers over the past two weeks, due to the sudden strike, and as the next schedule did not commence. Taking into consideration the difficulties being faced by our persons who have worked for us, we have decided to make exception to the policy and make the payments this week," PMF said. The production house also introduced a new system to prevent delays. 'To ensure greater transparency and to eliminate past malpractices of routing payments through representatives, all payments will henceforth be made directly to workers into their bank accounts. PMF will not release funds to intermediaries under any circumstance," the note added. How Workers Can Claim Dues Workers from the July schedule are requested to submit accurate bank details and complete the enrolment process. Payments will be disbursed within the same week after verification by Executive Producers. PMF expressed appreciation for cooperation and promised a smooth resumption of work. Legal Trouble Behind the Scenes The Raja Saab recently faced a legal complaint from Ivy Entertainment in Delhi High Court. The production company was accused of contractual breaches, including failing to complete and release the film on time, providing production updates, and disclosing fund utilisation. The Raja Saab is touted to be a horror-comedy, marking a genre break for Prabhas after having featured in action or fantasy dramas in the past few years. The film features a Haveli that's unlike anything seen before in Indian cinema. This grand set, spanning 41,256 sq ft, is officially the largest horror set ever constructed in India.
