UP government offices to implement 'yoga breaks' to combat work stress
This decision from the UP government comes after a directive issued by the Ministry of AYUSH, which called on all government offices to take a short yoga break for employees.
As per PTI, the state government order has called for the implementation of the 'Y-Break' Yoga protocol. The Y-break' is a yoga session designed for office and desk workers.
The routine will last five to ten minutes and include light neck, back, and waist movements, deep breathing, and mindfulness exercises.

The aim of introducing these yoga breaks for employees is to reduce work-stress and ensure the healthier work environment.
"Its goal is to reduce mental fatigue, release physical stiffness, refresh the mind and restore focus and energy," reported news agency PTI.
The state government has also prepared mass yoga demonstrations across the state on the occasion of International Yoga day on June 21.
Based on an official statement issued by the government, mass demonstrations will be held at locations such as the Gorakhdham Temple in Gorakhpur, Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, Chakratirth in Naimisharanya (Sitapur), and Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi.
The UP government is also working towards setting up yoga parks across the state as part of its effort to promote daily practice.
The parks will include facilities such as trained yoga instructors, open gyms, resting spaces, clean drinking water, and adequate lighting.

The Department of Health Research (DHR) and the ICMR inaugurated a two-day regional meeting titled 'Health Research and Innovations in Public Health: Exchange of Good Practices across RESEARCH Platform'. Delivering the plenary address, Dr V K Paul, Member, NITI Aayog, commended the participating countries for their significant progress in advancing the health and well-being of their citizens. 'The progress we see across these countries is a testament to their commitment to health. There is tremendous scope for us to learn from each other, co-create research products and translate science into action. By working together, we can accelerate progress towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals across the region," said Dr Paul. Dr Bahl said, 'The issues we face are common to all of us, and it is time for our region to move towards shaping its own narrative. Research is the way forward, and by learning from each other's research ecosystems, we can build stronger systems, generate knowledge that reflects our realities, and translate it into better health for our people." The event, held at the Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, brought together senior representatives from Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Timor-Leste to deliberate on strengthening health research systems, facilitate the exchange of good practices and promote cross-border collaboration in South and Southeast Asia. The meeting is part of the Regional Enabler for South and Southeast Asia Research for Health (RESEARCH) Platform, which aims to foster solidarity, knowledge-sharing, and collaboration among participating countries, the health ministry said in a statement. The representatives from Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Timor-Leste also delivered opening remarks, drawing attention to the health concerns that affect their populations and the region as a whole, such as anaemia, maternal and child health, tuberculosis, vector-borne diseases and non-communicable diseases. They emphasised the vital role of governments in ensuring public trust in science, highlighted the importance of sustained investments in capacity building alongside expanding infrastructure, and reiterated their commitment to regional solidarity in advancing health research and innovations, the ministry's statement said. Over the next two days, the meeting will include deliberations on diverse aspects of health research systems, including governance structures, research financing, mechanisms for prioritising research agendas and approaches to ensuring transparency and ethics. The participating countries will also discuss strategies to foster medical technology innovations, translate research into policy and programmes, and strengthen collaboration across sectors and with international partners, the statement said. This first-of-its-kind gathering marks a significant milestone in fostering regional cooperation and knowledge-sharing in health research. By coming together under the RESEARCH Platform, the participating countries have signalled their intent to learn from one another, co-create solutions, and jointly harness the power of science and innovation to improve public health and accelerate progress towards universal health coverage, it said. Abbott launches glucose reading device with smartphone connectivity
Last Updated: New Delhi, Aug 21 (PTI) Healthcare firm Abbott on Thursday launched in India its FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor device that offers automatic glucose readings every minute on a smartphone, aimed to help diabetic patients manage their condition. People living with diabetes can monitor their glucose readings without having to scan and receive alerts automatically on their compatible smartphones during low or high glucose levels, helping them make informed decisions, the company said in a statement. Nova Fertility Clinic to integrate AI for greater precision in embryo selection
Agency: Last Updated: Bengaluru, Aug 21 (PTI) Nova Fertility Clinic here on Thursday announced plans to integrate Artificial Intelligence into its IVF labs to improve precision in embryo selection, a critical aspect of fertility treatment. 'Improved precision can also reduce the number of embryos needed for transfer, addressing ethical concerns related to multiple pregnancies," said Shobhit Agarwal, CEO of Nova Fertility Clinic. According to a press release, the chain is partnering with South Korea's AI technology firm Kai Health to implement Vita Embryo, an AI-based embryo assessment system. Hyejun Lee, CEO of Kai Health, said, 'Our research indicates that AI intervention increases the precision of embryo selection by 12 per cent."
