₹146 crore allocated to offer agricultural equipment to farmers on subsidy: A.P. Social Welfare Minister
State government has allocated ₹146 crore to provide agricultural equipment to farmers on subsidy, said Social Welfare Minister Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy while addressing the farmers in 'Eruvaka Pournami' programme, at Throvagunta village near Ongole, in Prakasam district, on Wednesday.
Mr. Veeranjaneya Swamy, along with Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar, Ongole MLA Damacharla Janardhana Rao, Santanuthalapadu MLA B.N. Vijay Kumar, Ongole Mayor Gangada Sujatha, Tobacco Board Chairman Yashwant Kumar Chidipothu and Collector A. Thameem Ansaria, participated in the programme organised by the Agriculture Department in a field near the tobacco auction centre.
On the occasion, Mr. Veeranjaneya Swamy said, 'The alliance government has streamlined the Central government schemes that were stalled in the regime of YSR Congress Party due to lack of matching grants. Annadatha Sukhibhava scheme will be implemented on June 20 to provide financial assistance to the farmers.'
Later, he visited the tobacco auction centre, held a meeting with the farmers and inspected the way tobacco is being procured at the centre. 'Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is a farmer's son and knows the hardships faced by the farmers. Our government has introduced a special budget for agriculture. The Chief Minister wants the paddy farmers to be happy,' the Minister said.
The Social Welfare Minister further said that the coalition government will support the tobacco farmers so that they do not suffer any losses. He asked the Chairman of the Tobacco board to ensure that companies purchase the low-grade tobacco also. He said that the government has already formed a committee of ministers to solve their issues.
Assuring support to them, Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar said, 'The tobacco companies have earned good profit during the last two years and should buy all the tobacco grown this year as well. The State government will procure black burley tobacco through Markfed from June 16.'
'The tobacco companies should also take responsibility in supporting the farmers. Similar to last year's procurement, the entire crop should be purchased this year. Otherwise, it is not right for companies to buy as they please. They should bring local conditions to the attention of their managements,' said Ongole MLA Damacharla Janardhana Rao.
Collector Thameem Ansaria said that the farmers should take advantage of the financial assistance provided by the government. She said that the yield can be increased by implementing the latest technology. The government has focused on making agriculture profitable and it is also giving high priority to the natural farming system, she informed.

2.69 MW solar power plant commissioned in Chamarajanagar
A 2.69 MW solar power plant has been commissioned at Honnahalli village in Chamarajanagar taluk under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) Component-C scheme. The project aims to provide a sustainable and reliable daytime power supply for agricultural pump sets, benefiting around 300 local farmers. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated the plant virtually on Wednesday during a State-wide event held at Gauribidanur in Chikkaballapur district, besides launching multiple solar projects. Energy Minister K.J. George, Higher Education Minister M.C. Sudhakar, and officials attended the virtual event. A live screening of the inauguration was organised in Honnahalli, where Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) Chairman Ramesh Bandisidde Gowda and other dignitaries participated. Highlighting the CESC's ongoing efforts in expanding solar infrastructure, Mr. Gowda said, 'We have already set up solar plants with capacities of up to three MW and are targeting a total generation of 950 MW. Land for 500 MW of this capacity has already been secured this year.' Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasised the importance of providing three-phase power to farmers during the day. 'This project will eliminate the need for farmers to operate pump sets at night, enhancing safety and convenience,' he said. During an interaction with the Chief Minister, Mahesh, farmer from Honnahalli, expressed gratitude for the initiative, explaining the challenges posed by wild animals during night-time irrigation. 'With solar power available during the day, it is now much safer and more convenient for us to irrigate our fields,' he said.

Andhra ministers inaugurate key tribal education projects in Palnadu
GUNTUR: In a major step towards strengthening tribal education in the State, Tribal Welfare Minister Gummadi Sandhyarani and Electricity Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar inaugurated key infrastructure projects in Pedda Turkapalem village of Narasaraopet constituency on Wednesday. The visit underscored the State government's commitment to improving learning facilities for tribal students in Palnadu district. Tribal Welfare and Women & Child Development Minister Gummadi Sandhyarani and Energy Minister and Palnadu district in-charge Gottipati Ravi Kumar were accompanied by Narasaraopet MLA Aravind Babu and MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu during the visit. They formally opened a newly constructed Tribal Ashram School, built at a cost of Rs 8.2 crore, which includes residential, educational, and nutritional facilities. They also inaugurated a Rs 1.2 crore cement concrete (CC) road providing direct connectivity to the school. Sandhyarani inspected the school's infrastructure and directed officials to maintain high standards. She emphasised the government's focus on ensuring holistic development for tribal children. Ravi announced the seting up of two additional tribal Gurukul schools in the district within a year, reaffirming the government's aim to provide quality education.
