More Poundland stores are set to close after the chain was acquired for just £1 in a bargain-bin rescue deal.
A list of the first 25 shops to be axed has now been confirmed by the retailer.
The discount stores will close up and down the country in two waves, the first 10 on August 10 and then a further 15 on August 15.
The announcement follows a restructuring plan launched in June to close 68 Poundland stores.

There are 43 other shops scheduled for closure.
Three are already out-of-action. The Swiss Cottage branch closed in April 2024, while the branches in Chiswick and Southampton West Quay closed in May and June this year.
It is understood the remaining 40 will shut on a rolling basis between August 10 and mid-October.
Poundland's retail director, Darren MacDonald, said: 'It is of course, sincerely regrettable that our recovery plans include any store closures, but sadly that's necessary if we're to achieve our goal of securing the future of thousands of jobs and hundreds of stores.
'While our anticipated network of around 650-700 stores remains a sizeable one, we entirely understand how disappointing it will be for customers when one nearby, closes.
'Nevertheless, we look forward to continuing to welcome them to a nearby Poundland.
'It goes without saying that we will work closely with colleagues through a formal consultation process in stores scheduled to close, exploring any suitable alternative roles. That work is underway.'
The staff members at the 25 branches scheduled to close in August were tipped off in June.

Poundland closures follow '£1 sale' of company
Investment firm Gordon Brothers bought the struggling discount shop last last month, with Poundland going into a 'restructuring' process.
The company told Metro in June that the end goal would be reducing the number of Poundland stores from about 800 to 650.
Alongside the confirmed closure of 68 stores, Gordon Brother also wants to ditch frozen food products and cut the number of chilled food items sold.
They also plan to shut their frozen and digital distribution centre in Darton, South Yorkshire, later this year, as well as their national distribution centre in Bilston, West Midlands, in early 2026.
Other Poundland stores slated for closure
A host of other Poundlands are planning to shut up shop.
These branch closures are separate to the 25 announced on Monday. Stratford-upon-Avon – July 21
Newquay – closing July 30
Cowes, Isle of Wight – closing July 30
Newquay – August 1
Whitby – September 3
Wealdstone – September 6
Pontypool – September 7
Inverclyde – unknown
Poundland will stop selling products on their website, instead choosing to provide more womenswear and seasonal ranges in-store.
These plans, but not the closure of the 25 stores announced on Monday, are dependent on the green light from the High Court in August.

NS&I has increased its one-year British Savings Bond rate to 4.18% AER Bonds offer guaranteed interest but no prize draws like Premium Bonds Money is fully protected by the government up to £1 million per person Rates remain lower than some top fixed-rate bonds on the market Ideal for savers seeking safety and steady returns without risk While Premium Bonds give savers the thrill of monthly prize draws, NS&I's latest savings product offers something simpler: certainty. The government-backed savings provider has just relaunched its one-year British Savings Bonds – available as either Guaranteed Growth or Guaranteed Income Bonds – with a better interest rate of 4.18% AER. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Bonds are a type of savings product where you lend money to a government or company for a set period of time, and in return, they agree to pay you interest. At the end of the term, you get your original money back. That's a small increase from the previous 4.05%, and it comes as many other savings providers are starting to lower their fixed-rate offers. So, are these bonds a hidden gem – or are there better ways to grow your money? (Photo: PAUL ELLIS/AFP via Getty Images) | AFP via Getty Images Can you win prizes with one-year British Savings Bonds? Unlike NS&I's flagship Premium Bonds, where you could win up to £1 million in monthly tax-free prizes but earn no interest, these new one-year bonds offer guaranteed returns – but no chance of a prize windfall. They're ideal for those who want stability over surprise, particularly as the wider market anticipates further base rate cuts by the Bank of England later this year. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'NS&I has bucked the trend in a falling market,' says Sarah Coles, head of personal finance at Hargreaves Lansdown. 'Elsewhere, rates are dropping – so this small bump stands out.' So if you're after thrills and tax-free prizes, Premium Bonds are still the place to dream big. But if steady growth with zero risk is more your style, NS&I's new bonds might be the safe harbour you're looking for. Are one-year British Savings Bonds worth it? Bonds are a way to save money by locking it away for a set period. You lend your money to a government or company, and in return, they pay you interest. When the term ends, you get your money back. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad With NS&I's bonds, your money is locked away for a fixed time, and you earn a guaranteed return. The one-year British Savings Bonds are available as either Guaranteed Growth - where interest is paid at the end of the one-year term - or Guaranteed Income Bonds, where interest is paid monthly into your bank account. At 4.18%, the new one-year rate still lags behind top-paying fixed-rate bonds on the market, which can offer upwards of 4.5% AER. But NS&I has one trump card: 100% Treasury-backed protection. That means your money is fully safe up to £1 million per person - you'll need to invest a minimum of £500 - far above the £85,000 cap offered by most banks under the FSCS. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'For some savers, that government-backing is the main draw,' says Laura Suter of AJ Bell. 'It removes the hassle of spreading money across banks.' NS&I's move is seen as a tactical one – an attempt to keep existing customers on board as their previous bonds mature, while drawing in new savers with its trademark security. But it's unlikely to spark a stampede. The current offer is a far cry from the 6.2% rates available on similar NS&I bonds just two years ago – a figure described by Suter as 'a relic from another era.' If you're after peace of mind and don't want to shop around or worry about FSCS limits, these bonds might tick your boxes. But if maximising returns is your priority – and you're willing to accept a bit more risk – better rates are still out there. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad

Full list of 37 Poundland stores closing in August with first branch shutting in DAYS – is your local affected?

DISCOUNT chain Poundland is closing 37 stores in August as part of a major restructuring. The retailer will shutter branches across the UK over three separate dates next month. 1 Ten sites will close on August 10 while a further 15 will shut on August 17. Another 12 are earmarked for closure on August 24. You can read the full list of stores closing below. It comes as Poundland's new owners look to balance the books as part of a major restructuring effort. Darren MacDonald, retail director at Poundland, previously said: "It is of course, sincerely regrettable that our recovery plans include any store closures, but sadly that's necessary if we're to achieve our goal of securing the future of thousands of jobs and hundreds of stores. "It goes without saying that we will work closely with colleagues through a formal consultation process in stores scheduled to close, exploring any suitable alternative roles." Poundland shops are closing in Tunbridge Wells, Cardiff Valegate and Birmingham Fort on August 10. Meanwhile shops in Bedford, Hull St Andrews and Worcester will be shuttering permanently on August 17. Further locations in Newcastle, Coventry and Salford will welcome in customers for the final time on August 24. In total, Poundland is closing 68 branches as part of a restructuring effort by new owners Gordon Brothers. So far, closure dates and locations for 40 of these 68 branches have been confirmed, including three which have already shut. Poundland to be sold for JUST £1 as frontrunner for shock takeover is revealed after wave of store closures It is understood a further 28 sites are set to shut between now and mid-October. POUNDLAND SELLS UP Poundland was sold in June as part of a deal struck with investment fund Gordon Brothers. But the deal included a major restructuring plan, as well as a cash injection of £80million. In late June, Gordon Brothers laid laid out the details of the plan, which included closing 68 stores and negotiating rent reductions at a number of other locations. All the Poundland stores shutting in August This is the full list of 37 stores shutting next month: Bedford Bidston Moss Broxburn Craigavon Dartmouth East Dulwich Falmouth Hull St Andrews Newtonabbey Perth Poole Sunderland Stafford Thornaby Worcester Ammanford Birmingham Fort Cardiff Valegate Cramlington Leicester Long Eaton Port Glasgow Seaham Shrewsbury Tunbridge Wells Brigg Canterbury Coventry Newcastle Kings Heath Peterborough Peterlee Rainham Salford Sheldon Whitechapel Wells The investment firm has also confirmed plans to: Close its frozen and digital distribution centre in Darton, South Yorkshire, later this year Ditch frozen products from stores Reduce the number of chilled food items sold Close its national distribution centre in Bilston, West Midlands, in early 2026 No longer sell products on its website Provide more womenswear and seasonal ranges These plans, but not the closure of the 37 stores closing next month, moving ahead are subject to approval by the High Court in August. Poundland was put up for auction by its owners Pepco in March as it looked to offload the brand. The Polish company had reported weak Poundland sales over the previous six months and cut the brand's trading guidance for the year as a result. Poundland revenues dropped by 6.5% to £830million for the six months to March compared with a year earlier. The brand suffered "challenges across all categories" and had 18 net store closures over the period. Pepco had blamed "highly challenging trading conditions" for the fall in sales.

It was a busy day at Turnberry in South Ayrshire yesterday, with US President Donald Trump enjoying a day of golf before announcing a trade deal with the EU. Ahead of sitting down for a discussion with European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen, Mr Trump played a few rounds of golf with his family, where he was seen blowing kisses to supporters. It was later that day that he spoke with Ms von der Leyen to announce a trade deal between the EU and the US. Today, Mr Trump is set to meet one-on-one with UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer at Turnberry, before they are expected to travel to a private engagement at Trump International in Menie.
