French ace Matthieu Pavon suffered the nightmare in Toronto but incredibly it isn't the worst score on a hole this year Mashed-up Matthieu Pavon was left devastated after carding a disastrous 12 at the RBC Canadian Open. The French star suffered the calamity on the opening hole, the 10th on the course, of his second round at TPC Toronto. Pavon's anguish began with a wild tee shot into trouble and, having got his ball back into play, he hit a fourth into the water. The 32-year-old reloaded and promptly hit his sixth into the drink before doing exactly the same again with his eighth after yet another penalty drop. Pavon finally managed to get his 10th shot onto the putting surface before taking two-putts to sign for a dozen. Such is golf, the shattered star bounced back with two straight birdies, but the damage was well and truly done. It was painful for Pavon, but he did go one better than William Mouw, who ended up with a 13 during his second round of The American Express in January. He made an octuple-bogey, tripped up by the notorious 18-foot-deep greenside bunker. It took him 13 shots to play the famed par five, most of which were caught by TV cameras. Mouw said: 'I'm definitely not the first to get captured by the bunker and make a big number and I certainly won't be the last.' Preston sign Charlton's Small on four-year deal
Preston North End have signed defender Thierry Small from Charlton Athletic on a four-year 20-year-old joins after the two clubs agreed compensation ahead of the end of his contract later this moves to Deepdale off the back of winning promotion with the Addicks to the Championship through last season's League One signing for Preston, Thierry told the club website:, external "I'm over the moon. 'Nothing would tempt me to sell him'
We asked for your views on Jarrad Branthwaite and his future at Everton, after one supporter described him as "priceless" to the club and a "generational talent".Here are some of your comments:George: Give him a long-term contract that rewards him now and gives him progressive incentives to stay. Monetary and status (club captain?). Make him want to stay. The grass is not always greener elsewhere!Dave: Yes, I completely agree that he must stay at Everton. He is beyond doubt an excellent centre-half and will only keep on improving as years progress. Give him all the encouragement he needs to stay at a club that is on the Branthwaite is the best young centre-back in the world! Tall, strong, quick, good passing ability, everything you need. Just needs to improve his leadership, but that will come with age. Nothing would tempt me to sell him, as you cannot replace him. If the club were to sell, the figure at least has to be £100m starting point. He would be a steal at £150m!David: I hope Jarrad can give us one more season. Then take stock and see if we are progressing. If an offer he or we can't refuse, then fine. Part ways on good terms. Mike: I would like Branthwaite to spend his career with us, but that's not going to happen. He's better than Stones, and he went for £50m years ago. Chelsea paid £75m for Fofana, that's a starting bid. Branthwaite has not been trying to force a move. He seems to be a decent lad. He has a couple of years left on his contract. Hopefully someone will offer stupid money, which would help further stabilise to club.
