Drive development in constituencies: CM to young professionals
Addressing the group at the Secretariat, where they received appointment letters, Naidu urged the 175 professionals — each with a postgraduate degree and assigned to a constituency — to work with passion and a 'student-like' mindset to transform their regions.
'Appointing a Young Professional for each constituency is a new approach,' Naidu said. 'You must identify priorities, study the strengths and natural resources of your constituencies, and coordinate with local MLAs to create robust development plans.' He stressed the importance of accurate information and continuous learning, adding, 'The sky is the limit for your ideas and contributions.'
Reflecting on his own experience, Naidu noted, 'When I first became Chief Minister, I planned based on priorities. My Vision 2020 for Hyderabad, though criticised, became a reality. Your work here can yield similar results if you work with heart.'
He encouraged the professionals to face coordination challenges with public representatives and officials, assuring them that their efforts would earn recognition for both themselves and the government. Naidu also highlighted the state's progress, citing extensive road construction and green energy initiatives.
He expressed optimism about a recent Central government decision, stating, 'The allocation of a semiconductor unit to Andhra Pradesh is a welcome development. It will create an electronics ecosystem in the state.'
The event, attended by minister Payyavula Keshav and P4 Foundation vice-chairman C Kutumba Rao, culminated in the planning department presenting appointment letters to the professionals, who recently completed a week-long training programme.

Hyderabad firm DEC Infra bags ₹2,000-cr. Central govt. housing contract
Hyderabad-based DEC Infrastructure and Projects (India) has secured a ₹2,000 crore contract for constructing modern residential facilities for Central government employees in New Delhi. The contract involves redevelopment of the general pool residential colony at Sriniwaspuri, New Delhi, it said in a release announcing receipt of a letter of acceptance from the Central Public Works Department (CPWD). The company said it would be constructing 3,112 2BHK flats (each 1,100 sft) in 16 blocks in 20.86 acres. The high-rise residential units include single basement, stilt and three-level podium parking, a multi-level car parking, a community centre and Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) dispensary. The redevelopment works also include all development works and services on EPC (Mode-I) basis including comprehensive maintenance and operation of service for five years after completion of construction work.

Andhra Pradesh Secretariat launches jute bag stalls as part of drive against single-use plastics
In a step towards making Andhra Pradesh free of single-use plastics by June 5, 2026, the Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MA&UD) Department on Thursday launched jute bag stalls at the State Secretariat. The initiative, organised under the aegis of the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA), was inaugurated by MA&UD Principal Secretary S. Suresh Kumar. Speaking at the event, Mr. Suresh Kumar said that from August 15, the Secretariat would be declared single-use plastic-free. The newly set-up stalls aim at promoting the use of eco-friendly alternatives such as jute bags in place of plastic carrybags. He noted that the drive aligned with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's call to make Andhra Pradesh a plastic-free State by the World Environment Day-2026. As part of the campaign, the Secretariat would replace plastic bottles, cups, plates, stickers, sachets, and carrybags with reusable and biodegradable materials. Other key measures included installation of RO water plants in all the Secretariat blocks, free distribution of reusable stainless steel water bottles to employees, and placement of three-colour dustbins for collection of solid, liquid, and e-waste. Mr. Suresh Kumar stressed that the plan was being implemented in mission mode with a strong action plan, in collaboration with the Swachh Andhra Corporation. He urged all the Secretariat employees and visitors to cooperate in making the programme a success. MEPMA Managing Director Tej Bharat participated.

Secure Central funds, boost A.P.'s revenue sources, Naidu tells officials
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has underscored the importance of securing central government funds and improving tax devolution to strengthen Andhra Pradesh's finances. He also directed officials to pursue these priorities proactively while ensuring close monitoring of collections through the A.P. Tax Information System. Mr. Naidu, who reviewed the performance of revenue-generating departments on Thursday, stressed the need to enhance the State's own revenue sources and instructed that fuel for contract works, such as petrol and diesel, be purchased within Andhra Pradesh to prevent leakage to neighbouring States. In the current fiscal year, the State's revenue is expected to increase by 8% compared to the previous year. Public health must take precedence over excise revenue, and land registration values should reflect actual market prices rather than inflated figures. The services sector offers significant untapped potential for generating additional tax income, he said. Mr. Naidu called for a scientific analysis of property sales, the use of data analytics to track values, and the application of artificial intelligence to detect tax evasion and prevent leakages in government income. Data mapping The Chief Minister further ordered that land details be mapped using GIS for e-registrations and accurate boundary identification. RTGS and CCTV systems must be used to ensure proper vehicle tax collection, present incentives for electric vehicles should be continued, and the scrap vehicle policy should be implemented in line with the central guidelines. Mining activities are to be monitored through drones and satellite technology supported by data analytics. Auto-mutation should be implemented across all municipal corporations using technology-based data and RTGS records. Municipal records should be corrected and geo-tagged, and Aadhaar, mobile, and electricity data should be integrated to strengthen tax collection, he said. Officials informed him that the village boundary survey under the Swamitva scheme would be completed by February 2026. Mr. Naidu ordered regular audits of panchayat accounts. 'The State can earn about ₹1,500 crore from the sale of red sandalwood stocks held by the Forest Department,'' the Chief Minister said, and urged exploration of opportunities in the international market. Steps should be taken to generate revenue from bamboo-based products, he added.
