Baltimore Ravens WR Devontez Walker looks to make the most of his opportnunity

Baltimore Ravens second-year wide receiver Devontez Walker is looking forward to more opportunities this season. Walker had just one catch for three yards and a touchdown in nine games in 2024, but with an offseason to learn his role, the former North Carolina college football player hopes to take a giant leap. Walker spoke one-on-one with WJZ Sports Director Alex Glaze during training camp. "I'm fully aware of things this time," Walker said. "My rookie year, coming in, you don't know what you are getting into, every day was something different. This year, I am more aware of what we are doing and trying to accomplish." Walker talked about his mindset heading into year two, his relationship with Lamar Jackson, and what he has learned from veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who signed with the Ravens in the offseason. This season, there will be a lot of talent catching passes from Jackson, so Walker knows to make the most of his opportunities. "I feel like I'm a guy that can help this offense," Walker said. "I bring a lot of speed to this offense." The Ravens' pass-catchers also include Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, Isaiah Likely, and Mark Andrews. Walker said he's learned to "make the most of every opportunity." "Just preparing like I am going out there first with Lamar and the starters, and when my name gets called, taking full advantage of that opportunity when I get out there," Walker said. The Baltimore Ravens begin the preseason at home against the Indianapolis Colts. They kick off the regular season on Sunday Night Football on Sept. 7 at the Buffalo Bills, where the Ravens' season ended in 2025 in the AFC Divisional Round of the playoffs.

OKC Thunder Mailbag: How should Chris Paul be honored for contributions?

The calendar nears August, which means the NBA is in its driest part of the year. Rosters are mostly set as front offices head into vacation for the next couple of months before training camp starts. The Oklahoma City Thunder will enter the 2025-26 season with the hopes of being repeat NBA champions. They had one of the greatest seasons ever with a 68-14 regular-season record and captured the Larry O'Brien trophy. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren were all signed to new contract extensions this offseason. As the Thunder basically run it back with the same roster, Thunder Wire will conduct regular mailbags to answer questions that fans have. One question being asked is about Chris Paul. The 40-year-old signed with the LA Clippers this offseason, signaling he's going for a poetic end to his Hall of Fame career. While his impending retirement isn't officially known yet, at least one fan believes the Thunder should honor Paul for his contributions when that day comes. Not just for his 2019-20 season, but for his OKC Hornets years. He spent his first two seasons from 2005-07 there as the then-Hornets temporarily relocated due to Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. It was a test run to see if small-market OKC can support an NBA franchise. While Paul hasn't done enough to warrant his No. 3 jersey to get retired, maybe there's a nice middle ground. Even though he only spent one season on the Thunder, his contributions go beyond that. He helped mentor Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. He gave OKC fans one of its most fun seasons ever, considering expectations. It was a much-needed bounce-back campaign by Paul, where he earned All-NBA honors. When Paul visits the Thunder on the road, he usually receives applause. Being part of the Thunder Legacy Network is the best answer. Every year, the Thunder invite over alumni players to be celebrated by fans for their time in OKC. They could also throw in his time on the Hornets, too. It'd be worth a shoutout. But once Paul hangs up his sneakers, he can be the headliner for a Thunder Legacy Network weekend in a future season. It's a program the Thunder have built up in recent years. The future Hall-of-Famer is always fond of his short time in OKC and left on good terms, which is impressive considering the immediate aftermath of being traded for franchise legend Russell Westbrook.

Tyler Guyton injury update: Cowboys suffers bone fracture

The Dallas Cowboys entered the 2025 NFL season planning to use Tyler Guyton as their full-time left tackle. It briefly appeared Brian Schottenheimer's club might have to pivot after the 2024 first-round pick was injured during Dallas' training camp practice on Monday, July 28. However, the Cowboys got some good news about the injury, as an MRI revealed Guyton avoided a torn ACL, which the team had initially feared. Here's what to know about Guyton's injury: Tyler Guyton injury update Guyton suffered a bone fracture during Dallas' practice Monday, ESPN's Todd Archer reports. Originally, the 24-year-old was feared to have suffered a season-ending ACL tear, but an MRI revealed the ligament was intact. Guyton is expected to be sidelined 4-6 weeks by the fracture. That might allow him to be ready for Week 1. Guyton's injury occurred late in Dallas' practice on Monday. The second-year tackle was "rolled up during a pass play," per Archer. Guyton remained on the ground for a couple of minutes after a play before he was able to get up and slowly walk to the locker room. The Cowboys did not immediately provide an update about Guyton after Monday's practice ended. Who is Tyler Guyton's backup? In Guyton's absence, the Cowboys will likely rely on Asim Richards to man the left tackle position. Richards, a fifth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft out of UNC, played 177 snaps at left tackle for Dallas last season. He committed just one penalty and allowed one sack in his limited action. Dallas also has sixth-round rookie Ajani Cornelius, free-agent signee Hakeem Adeniji and 2022 fifth-round pick Matt Waletzko on the roster at the position. Guyton's injury is the second significant one to a Dallas offensive lineman to start training camp. Veteran guard Rob Jones, who is competing with first-round rookie Tyler Booker to replace Zack Martin at right guard, told reporters he is expected to miss 2-3 months after breaking a bone in his neck. Tyler Guyton stats Guyton played in 15 games for the Cowboys as a rookie and made 11 starts. The Oklahoma product struggled with penalties, committing 18, and also allowed six sacks. Guyton earned an overall grade of 49.4 from Pro Football Focus, which ranked 73rd among 81 qualified tackles for the 2024 NFL season.
