TOKEN2049 Dubai: Binance Returns as Title Sponsor With Focus on Web3 Engagement
The announcement comes alongside the launch of Binance's licensed payment services company, BPay in Bahrain, offering fiat services to users in Bahrain. As its operations go deeper in the Middle East's landscape, Binance Bahrain is also keeping its foot on the ground with community and cultural partnerships, such as sponsoring the recent Racing events at the Bahrain Turf Club.
Binance has confirmed its strategic alignment with TOKEN2049, a global conference series for digital asset professionals, by returning as the title sponsor for the upcoming Dubai edition from 30 April to 1 May 2025.
This year's conference is expected to attract global participation, with a focus on the growing influence of the MENA region in the digital asset space. TOKEN2049 will feature a programme of high-profile speakers and discussions around emerging technologies, regulatory trends, and innovation in decentralised finance.
As part of its participation, Binance is reintroducing its dedicated Binance Clubhouse activation—an interactive space located within the conference venue. The Clubhouse is positioned as a co-working and networking environment and will include panel talks, appearances from Binance executives, community-led discussions, and on-site engagement initiatives.
The initiative is designed to encourage dialogue around responsible innovation and global adoption of Web3 technologies. Binance CEO Richard Teng is also scheduled to attend, engaging directly with attendees and the broader blockchain community.
In a statement, Binance described the Clubhouse as a space 'designed for both industry veterans and curious newcomers,' offering opportunities for knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and exploration of the evolving Web3 landscape.
The Binance Clubhouse is expected to host games, giveaways, and informal meetups, making it a flexible environment for those looking to connect with the crypto ecosystem at varying levels of experience. It is one of over 1,500 global events held under the Binance Clubhouse umbrella annually, reflecting the platform's growing role in fostering regional and international crypto dialogue.
The renewed collaboration with TOKEN2049 also underscores Binance's continued efforts to support platforms that focus on education, regulation, and accessibility in the Web3 sector. TOKEN2049's return to Dubai comes at a time when the city is positioning itself as a central hub for blockchain innovation and digital finance in the region.
According to Binance, the partnership with TOKEN2049 is aligned with a broader mission to create spaces where developers, investors, regulators, and users can connect and exchange ideas. The initiative is expected to contribute to the wider adoption of blockchain technologies through increased engagement and industry participation.
BPay Global, a company within the Binance Group, has received a Payment Service Provider (PSP) licence from the Central Bank of Bahrain. The regulatory approval enables the company to offer fiat services to Binance users, including deposits, withdrawals, custody, and other payment-related solutions.
Once fully integrated into the Binance platform in Q2 2025, BPay Global will provide users in eligible countries with access to a fiat e-wallet. This feature will allow users to deposit funds via bank transfers and debit or credit card payments, with custody services also being made available.
The licence marks the first PSP approval granted to a Binance-affiliated company. It allows BPay Global to act as a payment service provider, acquirer, and e-wallet provider. The company is regulated and licensed by the Central Bank of Bahrain as an Ancillary Service Provider.
Tameem Almoosawi, General Manager of Binance Bahrain and BPay Global, stated that the license will support fiat on- and off-ramp capabilities for users. Thomas Gregory, Vice President of Fiat at Binance and Chairman of BPay Global, added that the offering is aimed at providing a more resilient and accessible fiat channel for both consumer and corporate users.
In another regional development, Binance sponsored a recent racing event hosted by the Bahrain Turf Club. The sponsorship forms part of its wider engagement with the Kingdom's cultural and business communities.
The event featured a series of horse races, each named after elements of the Binance ecosystem. These included the Binance Arabian Cup, Mile Cup, Research Cup, Academy Cup, Square Cup, Exchange Cup, Sprint Cup, and the BPay Global Cup. Each cup was themed to represent areas such as research, education, community, trading, and innovation.
The event drew attendance from members of Bahrain's royal family, regulatory officials, and business leaders. Binance representatives were also present, including Tameem Almoosawi, Husain Ghuloom, Abdulla Abusaif, and Bayan Alsayed.
According to Binance, the sponsorship served several purposes: to support a local cultural event, engage with regulatory and governmental stakeholders, and build greater awareness around blockchain applications and education. On-site activations and networking sessions were also part of the initiative.

UAE overtakes UK in global fintech investment rankings
The United Arab Emirates has surged into second place globally for fintech investment, displacing the United Kingdom for the first time on record. This sharp jump follows a $2 billion investment by MGX into the cryptocurrency exchange Binance, propelling the UAE ahead of its traditional Western rival. The United States retained its top spot with $11 billion raised through over 100 deals in the first half of 2025. The UAE secured $2.2 billion, while the UK lagged slightly behind at $1.5 billion. Power shift The rankings, released based on the latest global fintech market data, reflect a significant shift in global capital flows. The UAE's rise was driven by a single but substantial deal, signalling how strategic investments can rapidly transform national standings in high-growth sectors. India came close to overtaking the UK as well, collecting $1.4 billion and highlighting a narrowing gap in the global fintech hierarchy. Singapore followed with $798 million, while France and Germany raised $693 million and $668 million respectively. Fintech gains pace Despite uneven investment figures, the fintech sector as a whole is showing signs of maturity. Global fintech revenues grew by 21 percent last year, significantly higher than the 13 percent rise seen in 2023. A study by Boston Consulting Group notes that the sector has entered a new phase, with fintech revenues expected to triple those of traditional finance institutions by 2024. The UAE's new position in the rankings underscores a growing trend of non-Western economies gaining ground in the financial technology space. As funding patterns shift and the sector matures, global leadership in fintech is no longer confined to legacy power centers.

How to Set Up a Crypto Inheritance Plan
A crypto inheritance plan is vital because losing private keys or seed phrases can permanently make assets like Bitcoin, Ether and NFTs unrecoverable. A strong inheritance plan includes asset inventories, secure access instructions and a trusted executor, ensuring heirs can safely and legally access holdings. Privacy must be protected using encrypted files, sealed documents or decentralized identity tools rather than exposing sensitive details in public wills. Balancing custodial and non-custodial solutions helps secure assets while simplifying transfers, avoiding mistakes like storing everything on exchanges or sharing keys insecurely. If you hold digital currencies like Bitcoin BTC$118,426 and Ether ETH$3,692, it is essential that you create a clear and well-thought-out inheritance plan to prevent your crypto from going down the drain once you are not around. Unlike traditional bank accounts, cryptocurrencies are controlled entirely by private keys and seed phrases (regardless of whether they're stored in hot or cold wallets), and losing these keys means the assets become permanently unrecoverable. Each year, cryptocurrency worth millions of dollars is lost due to forgotten passwords, misplaced wallets or heirs unsure how to proceed with crypto assets. Traditional wills often fail to adequately address digital assets, resulting in possible legal complications or permanent loss. A carefully designed crypto inheritance plan addresses these challenges, ensuring your assets remain secure and accessible to your beneficiaries as you intend. This article discusses what makes it imperative for you to have a crypto inheritance plan, components of such a plan, ways to protect privacy while planning, crypto death protocols and a lot more. If you own cryptocurrency, creating a crypto inheritance plan is essential. Unlike traditional bank accounts, cryptocurrencies are often self-custodied, meaning only you hold the private keys or seed phrases. If you pass away without sharing this information, your assets could be lost forever. A digital asset will ensure proper sharing of altcoins and Bitcoin private keys after death. Around 1.57 million Bitcoin are likely lost, which is approximately 7.5% of the total supply of Bitcoin (it has a fixed upper limit of 21 million BTC). Traditional wills often fail to address cryptocurrency-related requirements, and heirs may lack the technical skills to access or manage digital wallets.
