Sweden: Israel's decision to reoccupy Gaza violates International Law

Saba Yemen2 days ago
Stockholm – SABA:
Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard stated on Friday that the Israeli government's decision to escalate attacks on the Gaza Strip violates international law, expressing concern over the move aimed at fully occupying the enclave.
In a press statement criticizing the Israeli entity's decision to reoccupy Gaza, Stenergard emphasized that attempts to annex, alter, or shrink Gaza's territory contravene international law.
- "I am deeply concerned by the Israeli government's decision. While we urgently need a ceasefire, this move takes us in the exact opposite direction."
- "Israel's decision to escalate attacks on Gaza breaches international law. We are alarmed by this development."
With American and European backing, the Israeli enemy army has continued its genocidal crimes in Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in:
- 61,258 Palestinian civilians martyred (mostly children and women)
- 152,045+ injured (as of Thursday)
- Thousands still trapped under rubble, inaccessible to rescue teams

Yemen's Houthis Claim Three Drone Strikes Inside Israel

Sana'a – Yemen's Houthi movement announced Friday that it had launched three drone strikes deep inside Israeli territory, targeting strategic sites in Lod, Beersheba, and Ashkelon. The attacks mark a dramatic escalation in the group's involvement in the broader Middle East conflict, as it positions itself as a military actor in solidarity with Gaza. Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesperson for the Houthi-led Yemeni Armed Forces, said in a televised statement that the operations were 'qualitative and successful,' claiming the drones struck Ben Gurion Airport in Lod and undisclosed 'vital targets' in Beersheba and Ashkelon. He warned international shipping companies operating in Israeli ports that their vessels 'will be targeted regardless of destination' unless they cease cooperation. Israeli military sources confirmed that two drones were intercepted without triggering air raid sirens, in line with current defense protocols. However, footage and reports from regional media suggest that at least one drone may have reached its target, causing panic and temporary disruption. The strikes come just days after the Houthis claimed responsibility for launching a hypersonic missile—dubbed 'Palestine-2'—toward Ben Gurion Airport, in retaliation for what they described as Israeli provocations at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

UAE condemns Israel's plans to occupy Gaza

The United Arab Emirates has condemned Israel's latest plans to occupy the Gaza Strip. In a statement issued on Friday, the UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that this decision would lead to 'catastrophic consequences,' including further loss of life and a worsening of the already existing humanitarian crisis. The statement further called on the international community, the United Nations and the UN Security Council, to fulfill their responsibilities and put and end to such 'illegal practices,' stressing that upholding the rights of the Palestinian people is a 'moral, humanitarian, and legal imperative.' Moreover, it underscored the UAE's categorical rejection of any infringement on the Palestinians' rights or any attempts at displacement. On Thursday, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced plans to take full control of Gaza City that were sanctioned by his cabinet.
