Indian Navy signs contract with BEL for implementation of NMDA Project

Indian Navy
has signed a contract with a major defence PSU for the implementation of the
National Maritime Domain Awareness
(NMDA) Project towards strengthening maritime and coastal security, the defence ministry said on Tuesday.
The contract was signed in the presence of Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti, and Chairman and Managing Director,
Bharat Electronics Limited
(BEL), Bengaluru, Manoj Jain.
The project will bring in an integrated approach to data collation, analysis and information sharing among the various maritime stakeholders.

"The Indian Navy has signed a contract with
Bharat Electronics Limited
(BEL), Bengaluru, for the implementation of National Maritime Domain Awareness Project towards strengthening maritime and coastal security," it said.
The project entails the upgrade of the existing National Command, Control, Communication and Intelligence (NC3I) Network to the NMDA Network along with the incorporation of AI-enabled software, the ministry said.

As part of the project, the existing Information Management and Analysis Centre (IMAC) at Gurugram, which is the nodal centre of NC3I Network, will also be upgraded into a
multi-agency NMDA Centre
hosting representatives from various national agencies, it said.
The project will be executed on a "turnkey basis" and will be administered by the Indian Navy, the statement said.

The issue was subscribed 0.63 times. The issue opened for bidding on 24 July 2025 and it will close on 28 July 2025. The price band of the IPO is fixed between Rs 85 and 90 per share. An investor can bid for a minimum of 166 equity shares and in multiples thereof. The IPO comprises a fresh issue of Rs 759.6 crore. Of the proceeds, Rs 468.14 crore will be used for repayment, prepayment, or redemption (in full or in part) of certain borrowings availed by the company and its material subsidiary, SRP Prosperita Hotel Ventures Limited. An amount of Rs 107.52 crore will be utilized for the purchase of an undivided share of land from the companys promoters (BEL), while the remaining funds will be allocated for general corporate purposes. Brigade Hotel Ventures (BHVL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Brigade Enterprises (BEL), is a leading hotel owner and developer in South India. The company operates nine hotels with 1,604 keys across key cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Mysuru, and GIFT City, in partnership with global hospitality brands such as Marriott, Accor, and IHG. BHVL plans to expand its portfolio with new luxury and upper midscale properties under brands like Grand Hyatt, Fairfield by Marriott, InterContinental, and The Ritz-Carlton, targeting completion between FY28 and FY29. Ahead of the IPO, Brigade Hotel Ventures on Wednesday, 23 July 2025, raised Rs 324.72 crore from anchor investors. The board allotted 3.60 crore shares at Rs 90 each to 17 anchor investors.

The Indian Air Force is enhancing its capabilities along the borders by phasing out older aircraft and replacing them with modern ones. The vintage Avro transport aircraft of the Indian Air Force will soon be replaced by the new C-295MW tactical transport with the Indian Air Force, Indian Navy and Coast Guard is also going to induct C-295 aircraft. According to sources, the induction process is set to begin this year. A Request for Proposal (RFP) for the marine version of the C-295 was issued in March 2025 and the Defence Acquisition Council has approved the Acceptance of total of 15 C-295MW aircraft will be procured, out of which nine will be for the Navy and six will be for the Coast Guard. The deadline for submitting commercial bids is December 2025. India signed a deal in 2021 with Spain for 56 C-295MW aircraft. These aircraft are being manufactured in Gujarat's Vadodara. The Indian Air Force has already raised its first C-295 squadron at the Vadodara Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated this facility in the presence of the Spanish President. The project is being executed in partnership with the Tata consortium and Airbus. This marks the first time a private Indian company is developing military aircraft per the agreement, 16 aircraft will be manufactured in Spain and delivered to India, while the remaining 40 are being built in India. So far, the Indian Air Force has received 15 C-295 aircraft. The first Made-in-India C-295 is expected to be delivered by August next C-295 can carry between 5 to 10 tons of cargo, transport up to 70 soldiers or 50 paratroopers with full battle gear. It features a rear ramp for paradropping troops and cargo. Designed for tactical missions, the aircraft is capable of low-level flying and can operate from short runways, taking off in just 670 meters and landing in 320 features make it ideal for operations along the Line of Actual Control with China. It can fly for up to 11 hours at a speed of 480 km/h and comes equipped with an indigenous electronic warfare suite. The aircraft can have 24 stretchers during medical evacuation newer aircraft like the C-17 Globemaster and C-130J Super Hercules do not require replacement, the ageing Avro fleet is being replaced by the C-295MW. Other ageing aircraft such as the AN-32 and IL-76 are also due for AN-32 will begin retiring after 2032, and the IL-76 will serve for a few more years. The initial public offer (IPO) received bids for 3,20,21,234 shares against 5,11,93,987 shares on offer, as per NSE data. Retail Individual Investors (RIIs) part received 2.50 times subscription, while the quota for non-institutional investors got subscribed 42 per cent. The portion for Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) received 8 per cent subscription. Brigade Hotel Ventures Ltd on Wednesday raised Rs 325 crore from anchor investors. The IPO will conclude on July 28. The price band has been fixed at Rs 85 to Rs 90 per share. At the upper end of the price band, the company is valued at over Rs 3,400 crore. Brigade Hotel Ventures' IPO is entirely a fresh issue of equity shares worth Rs 759.6 crore with no offer-for-sale (OFS) component. Proceeds from the issue to the tune of Rs 468.14 crore will be used for the payment of debt, Rs 107.52 crore will be utilised for the purchase of an undivided share of land from the promoter, BEL, and the remaining funds will support acquisitions, other strategic initiatives, and general corporate purposes. Brigade Hotel Ventures Ltd is a subsidiary of Bengaluru-based real estate company Brigade Enterprises Ltd (BEL). BEL entered into the hospitality business in 2004 with the development of its first hotel, Grand Mercure Bangalore, which commenced operations in 2009. The company has a portfolio of nine operating hotels across Bengaluru (Karnataka), Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Kochi (Kerala), Mysuru (Karnataka) and the GIFT City (Gujarat) with 1,604 keys. The hotels are operated by global marquee hospitality companies such as Marriott, Accor and InterContinental Hotels Group. JM Financial and ICICI Securities are the book-running lead managers to the issue.
