Coalition government committed to welfare of farmers, asserts Minister Dola
The Minister, along with AP Maritime Board Chairman Damacharla Satyanarayana (Satya), attended as the chief guests for the Annadata Sukhibhava–Kritagnatalu (Thanksgiving) programme, which included a tractor rally in Kamepalli village of Jarugumalli mandal in the Kondapi Assembly segment.
Dola said the PM Kisan–Annadata Sukhibhava scheme exemplifies the coalition government's commitment to farmers. Criticising the YSRCP regime, he alleged that YSRCP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had crippled the agricultural sector during his five-year rule, resulting in farmer suicides.
'In contrast, our government prioritises farmers' well-being. Unlike the previous government, which used farmers' passbooks for publicity by printing photographs of the former CM, we are issuing new passbooks bearing only the government's official emblem,' he said.

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu held a meeting at his camp office on Wednesday to review heavy rainfall across Andhra Pradesh. The meeting, attended by Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, and Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu, Chief Secretary K Vijayanand, and senior officials from disaster management, agriculture, and water resources departments, focused on preparing for intense rain forecast for the next two to three days. Naidu instructed officials to maintain high alertness and provide timely flood warnings, particularly in the Krishna river basin, where sudden inflows from streams are expected. Officials reported that the Krishna river could see inflows of up to 5 lakh cusecs by the following day. Now, Prakasam Barrage is releasing 3.09 lakh cusecs of water through 35 gates, with 5,000 cusecs diverted to canals. He directed authorities to alert residents downstream and relocate those in low-lying areas to safer zones. To make optimal use of floodwater, Naidu ordered the transfer of 4 TMC of water daily to fill Somasila and Kandaleru projects, emphasising efficient water management to prevent wastage into the sea. He sanctioned Rs 40 crore for the construction of the Budameru-Velagaleru utility to enhance flood control, noting that heavy rainfall in upstream areas like Mylavaram is channeling water into the Krishna river via Budameru and Velagaleru streams. The Budameru Diversion Channel works are also being stressed the need to reinforce canal and tank embankments to prevent breaches, and clear debris to ensure smooth water flow. Four pumps are currently diverting water from Kondaveti and Pala streams into the Krishna river. He directed district collectors to monitor rainfall closely and provide farmers with real-time updates. Further, Naidu advocated for structures to recharge groundwater, instructing Panchayat Raj and forest officials to plan trenches under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. In urban areas, he ordered the immediate removal of stagnant water from roads and low-lying regions. The Chief Minister emphasised swift and coordinated action to minimise rain damage, protect lives, and ensure effective flood management across Andhra Pradesh, urging all departments to work proactively to safeguard communities and infrastructure.

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh is poised to transform into a green energy corridor, with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directing officials to devise short, medium and long-term plans to align with global energy dynamics. During a review meeting held at the CM's camp office on Wednesday, discussions centered around power supply, infrastructure investments, tariff reduction, and sustainable energy strategies. The meeting was attended by Energy Minister Gottipati Ravikumar, Chief Secretary K Vijayanand, and officials from APTransco and APGenco. Naidu emphasised that renewable energy is rapidly integrating into daily life, and will dominate the future. He instructed officials to study ways to reduce renewable energy production costs to benefit consumers. With an anticipated 8.9% rise in power consumption over the next two to three years, the State is planning to scale up green energy production. Naidu also stressed exploring non-tariff revenue sources to avoid burdening consumers with higher charges. He suggested leasing AP Transco's fiber optic network, which could generate up to Rs 7,000 crore additional revenue. The State currently faces 9% distribution losses, which Naidu deemed unacceptable. He directed officials to manage feeders efficiently, and categorise them to minimize losses. Local utilisation of regionally generated power has been proposed to reduce transmission losses, alongside modernising transmission lines. Naidu referenced past success with energy audit to curb power theft, and distribution losses, urging its reinstatement for effective management of production, supply and distribution. He also called for a detailed study on power consumption and a significant reduction in open market power purchases, with a target to lower per-unit purchase cost to Rs 4.80. Officials projected a demand increase to 12,700 MW between September 2025 and March 2026. To meet this, Naidu emphasised boosting production, and exploring power-swapping mechanisms to reduce reliance on purchases.

In Andhra Local Body By-Poll, Jagan Reddy's Big Defeat In Family Stronghold
Hyderabad: Jagan Mohan Reddy 's YSR Congress Party was routed in the Pulivendula zilla parishad territorial constituency, or ZPTC, by-poll Thursday. The ex-Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister's candidate, Hemanth Reddy, was thumped by the ruling Telugu Desam Party's Latha Reddy by 6,035 votes. The YSRCP candidate, in fact, secured fewer than 700 votes and lost his election deposit. This is the first time in nearly three decades that an election was held for the Pulivendula ZPTC seat, which had previously been won unopposed by YSRCP candidates. The TDP has celebrated the win as Pulivendula celebrating "independence, just a day before Independence Day". A delighted S Savitha, the Minister for Backward Classes Welfare, also put Jagan Reddy on notice, declaring the TDP will win his family stronghold in the 2029 Assembly election. The defeat has been made worse because the Pulivendula ZPTC falls within the Assembly constituency of the same name, which is a stronghold of the Chief Minister and his family. Mr Reddy has held the Pulivendula Assembly seat since 2014. Before that it was held by his father, YS Rajasekhara Reddy; his mother, YS Vijayammma; and other members of the family, including his uncle Y. S. Purushothama Reddy. Defeat in this prestige battle will come as a big blow for Jagan Reddy, who is also set to lose the Vontimitta ZPTC. At the last update, the TDP's Muddu Krishna Reddy had 6,270 votes to the fewer than 3,200 secured by the YSRCP's Iragamreddy Subbareddy. A furious Jagan Reddy has already demanded the Pulivendula and Vontimitta by-polls be cancelled and a second election be held under the supervision of central forces. He also said around 700 police personnel deployed at these booths to ensure a peaceful election had terrorised voters. And he slammed the shifting of polling booths, saying it was meant to threaten or confuse voters and force them to return without voting.
