Seattle weather: Cooler, calmer Mariners Opening Day forecast
The Brief
Thursday will be cooler and calmer, though there is a chance of a stray thunderstorm in the afternoon.
The roof will most likely be closed for Mariners Opening Day with some showers.
Thursday will be calmer. Wednesday was a very active day. Hail, thunderstorms, rain, and a few power outages. Temperatures were warm but not as warm as was forecast, and because of those cooler temperatures we didn't get as big of hail as was forecast. The biggest hail size that was reported as nickel size out on the Olympic Peninsula.

Thursday will start with cloudy skies and a few showers. It will be cooler tomorrow, as we head back to average temperatures. There is a chance of a stray thunderstorm tomorrow afternoon.
Thursday is opening day for the Mariners … Woo Hoo! Baseball season is here! The roof will most likely be closed for the game with some showers. It will be 55 degrees as you go to the game tomorrow. Good Day Seattle and Fox 13 news at 4 & 5 pm will be live from the ballpark for all the festivities

Breezy on Friday and the showers continue. Fewer showers on Saturday, and Sunday starts off nice, but there will be evening showers. Temperatures remain in the mid to upper 50s.

Seattle weather: Milder, pleasant temperatures ahead
The Brief Seattle will experience a gradual cooling trend with highs in the 80s on Tuesday, followed by milder weather and cloudier skies starting Wednesday, leading to temperatures in the upper 60s by Friday. Eastern Washington continues to face intense heat, while the weekend promises pleasant weather for Father's Day and the Sounders game, with partly sunny skies and highs in the 70s. SEATTLE - After experiencing multiple days with highs skyrocketing well above average in Seattle, we're predicting a gradual cooling trend ahead. Puget Sound will see one more afternoon with highs in the 80s before milder weather stages a comeback on Wednesday. By the numbers Highs on the west side of the state will lift to the mid 70s to the low 80s for many. The coast will enjoy Mother Nature's A/C with highs in the 60s. In Eastern Washington, intense heat continues today. If you have family and friends in the highlighted communities below, check to make sure they are finding ways to stay cool. What's next Wednesday will be noticeably cloudier around the region with pleasant temperatures. A mixture of clouds can be expected on Thursday. Temperatures on Friday drop to the upper 60s. Dry weather will be on repeat. Into the weekend, highs will reach the 70s. For Father's Day (and the first Sounders game in the FIFA Club World Cup), the weather will hold up beautifully. Ways to beat the heat when Seattle temperatures hit the 80s
The Brief People flocked to Golden Gardens and Aiki Beach to enjoy the warm weather, but authorities warn about the dangers of heat for pets, advising against leaving them in cars and midday walks on hot pavement. Cooling centers opened throughout King County, and Seattle Public Schools are taking measures to keep students cool, with air conditioning in 40% of campuses and ventilation strategies in place for others. SEATTLE - Waves crashing along the shore, the sun glistening on the water, when the sun comes out and so do the people. People of all ages found relief from the heat at Golden Gardens on Monday by the water, but the warm temperatures come with some serious warnings—especially for pets. "Hot weather for pets can be really dangerous," Madison Huffman, Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County said. She says a lot of pets are susceptible to heat stroke because of their fur. Like clockwork, this is the time of year when authorities remind folks to, of course, never leave your furry friends in the car. What they're saying "Leaving your pets in your car is actually against the law in Washington state, because it is so dangerous for our furry friends," Huffman said. "Even if it's 85 degrees out and you're leaving a pet in your car, within 30 minutes, your car can reach temperatures over 100 degrees, which can be fatal for pets." She advises pet owners to avoid taking their dog on midday walks, because the pavement can heat up and burn their paws. "Just wanted to enjoy the weather, get some reading done and tan a bit," Diesel Park said. At Aiki Beach, some people brought tents to enjoy the water and the sun. "We got a book in here, we're big card players, Frisbee, and then maybe a little nap," said Taylor, one beachgoer. "You don't get to see the mountains in the city and be on a beach anywhere," Victoria Perez said. "When you live this close you might as well take advantage of every nice day you get in Seattle." If you can't make it to the water, you can also find some relief from the heat at places like the mall or libraries around town. Dozens of cooling centers open throughout King County on Monday and through tomorrow. FOX 13 reached out to Seattle Public Schools about how they're keeping students cool on days when temperatures reach the 80's and beyond. They shared this statement: "About 40 percent of Seattle Public Schools (SPS) campuses are equipped with air conditioning and will maintain normal indoor temperatures. In schools without air conditioning, ventilation systems were activated early in the morning to cool buildings using night air to keep indoor spaces comfortable, staff are encouraged to open windows, use ceiling and/or portable desktop fans, and close shades during the day to reduce heat from sunlight." Blistering weather continuing on Sunday in Seattle
The Brief Seattle temperatures will reach the upper 80s on Sunday, with some areas hitting the low 90s, prompting a Heat Advisory. Cooling centers are available, and residents are advised to stay hydrated and avoid heat-related risks. Relief from the heat is expected by mid-week, with temperatures cooling significantly by Tuesday or Wednesday. SEATTLE - Temperatures will spike to the upper 80s this afternoon in Seattle. Some communities could wind up in the low 90s (e.g. the South Sound and the Cascade valleys like North Bend). It could be another challenging day for people without air-conditioning. There are many cooling centers that are opening around the region, including libraries. Head here for more: List of local cooling centers What's next Tomorrow, temperatures cool to a mild range along the North Sound, Salish Sea, Strait and the coast. Temperatures also fall below 90 for the South Sound and many other backyards. Seattle and Tacoma could hold onto the mid 80s. While it'll be another uncomfortable day, the heat won't be as intense as today. The National Weather Service has posted a Heat Advisory from 10 a.m. Sunday to 10 p.m. Monday for many places across the I-5 corridor. There is a medium risk of heat-related illnesses. Here are important safety reminders in the blistering heat: Stay hydrated and slather on the sunscreen. Don't walk your dogs in the hottest hours of the day. Try to do a walk in the evening or morning when the pavement isn't too hot for their paws. Never leave people or pets in a car in this type of weather. It could easily be deadly. If you're cooling off along the water, remember to always wear a life vest. Water temperatures remain cold year-round in Western Washington. Cold water shock is a real threat. Even strong swimmers can succumb. Check on the beloved seniors in your life to make sure they're finding ways to stay cool. If you don't have A/C at home, consider heading into a building with A/C at times in the coming days to give your system a break. This could include a mall, movie theater or library (if it's open). Be extra vigilant to avoid starting fires. Temperatures cool noticeably by the end of the workweek.
