Sir David Beckham's mother can't stop crying after knighthood announcement
Sir David Beckham has revealed his mother couldn't stop crying over his knighthood.
On Friday (13.06.25), the retired football legend was named in the King's Birthday Honours ahead of an official ceremony, and he has opened up about his mother Sandra's reaction after they enjoyed a lunch at Tony's Pie and Mash in London.
He wrote on Instagram: "Lunch with Mum , haven't seen her since the news...
"Mum cried when she arrived , cried during lunch and cried when I was leaving x special moment for us all.
"Love you mum x @sandra_beckham49 (Dads next) (sic)"
Sandra admitted she felt "emotional" having people approach her son to offer their congratulations using his new title.
She commented under the post: "Love you more... was emotional people saying congratulations Sir... see tears again (sic)"
David is married to former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham and has Brooklyn, 26, Romeo, 22, Cruz, 20, and 13-year-old Harper Seven with her.
The Manchester United legend - whose wife will now be known as Lady Victoria Beckham - has been given the honour for services to sport and charity.
Victoria wrote on Instagram after the news: "You've always been my knight in shining armour, but now it's official.
"Sir @davidbeckham!!! What an honour, I couldn't be prouder of you. Your dedication to the things that matter most — your country, your work, your passion, and most of all, your family — has never wavered.
"The way you've touched so many lives over the years with kindness and humility speaks volumes about the man you are and continues to inspire us everyday.
"But above all else, I'm so, so proud to call you mine. I love you so much xxxx"
In 2003, he was given an OBE by the late Queen Elizabeth for services to football.
The former England captain has a long history of charitable work, which Honours Committee officials will have considered before deciding to bestow him with the honour.

Avril Lavigne praises ex-husband Deryck Whibley as they perform together
Avril Lavigne has praised her ex-husband Deryck Whibley as a "legend" after the pair reunited for a performance. The 40-year-old singer and the Sum 41 frontman, 45, wed in 2006, but they split in 2009 and their divorce was confirmed in 2010. However, the former couple are still on good terms, and Deryck joined Avril on stage at the RFK Stadium Grounds in Washington on Sunday night (15.06.25) as she headlined the Vans Warped Tour. Avril and Deryck performed Sum 41's song In Too Deep together to "one of the best crowds" she has experienced. The Complicated hitmaker wrote on Instagram: "Headlined @vanswarpedtour last night and it was everything I would have expected and more! It was one of the best crowds and you guys know how to rock. "Also this legend @deryckwhibley from @sum41 joined me for one of the best pop punk anthems of all time "In Too Deep" (sic)" Deryck is now married to model Ariana Cooper, and Avril previously wed Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger in 2013, but they divorced in 2015. Avril and singer Mod Sun got engaged in March 2022, but the pair were their separate ways less than a year later. A month after the pair got engaged, Avril insisted relationships were "not easy", and she had learned to "prioritise" herself rather than relying on other people. Speaking to FAULT Magazine at the time, she said: "Yes, love is hard and relationships are not easy. "It's not easy for anybody and I've now lived long enough to realise that I need to prioritise myself and take care of myself. "I went through a phase where I was like 'I'm gonna be independent and have time on my own for a minute...' "And it really didn't last that long! But when I started the album, I was definitely in the mindset of, 'If I'm going to rely on anyone in this world, it's going to be me.' "

'It wasn't an easy decision': Country star Hardy axes European dates at last minute
Hardy has axed his European tour at the last minute. The country star was set to kick off the run at Copenhell festival in Denmark on Thursday (19.06.25), and was later due to play Birmingham, London, Manchester, Glasgow, Belfast and Dublin. Without giving an explanation, he stated it "wasn't an easy decision" to make. He penned on Instagram on Monday (16.06.25): "I have decided to cancel the European leg of the JIM BOB TOUR. "It wasn't an easy decision but one I had to make for my band, crew and my family. "Please know that I love you all and I will be back as soon as I can. "Refunds will automatically be issued by your point of purchase." The tour was in support of his 2024 LP Quit!!. The 34-year-old star - who first made his name as a songwriter for Florida Georgia Line - is due to continue his North American leg on July 18 at Country Thunder Wisconsin. Hardy's recent work includes contributing to Post Malone's upcoming follow-up to 2024 chart-topper F-1 Trillion. Malone told Billboard of working with collaborators including Ernest, Thomas Rhett and Hardy in Nashville: 'We just have fun. We just sit and f***ing talk and make songs. And so I'm pretty excited for the new record already.' Malone noted how he'd 'made probably 35 songs; it's just a matter of which one's rock, and which one's sock." He continued: "I sit there and listen to these songs, and I usually hate listening to my music, but listening to the band play, I get so excited.' Speaking about how he incorporates all his different styles – also including rock and pop - into one seamless set, the Circles hitmaker said: 'You put a twist on the instrumentation and the musicianship of it. We have Lillie [Mae] playing the fiddle and Cheese [Chandler Walters] playing the steel [guitar] and incorporating that into the old songs and then transitioning into the new s***… that's always been the thing about me, is it's all just f****** music.'
