Motorcyclist dies at scene following crash involving transit van
The collision occurred around 4.05pm on Friday afternoon on the A819 near Tullich and involved a Triumph Tiger motorbike and a Ford Transit Luton van.
The rider of the motorcycle, a 48-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin is aware.
The driver of the van was uninjured.
The road was closed for around ten hours for investigations to take place.
Sergeant Kenny Malaney said: 'Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died.
'Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident and I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened to get in touch.
'Similarly, anyone with dash-cam footage that may assist our enquiries is advised to get in touch.'

Man 'seen lying on road' after cyclist 'knocked down by car' in Edinburgh
Around 9.30pm on August 11, officers raced to Nicolson Street and were seen blocking drivers. A city centre street in Edinburgh has been locked down by police after a cyclist was reportedly knocked down by a car. The incident took place at around 9.30pm on August 11, on Nicolson Street sparking emergency services to race to the scene. A cordon was then erected on the road with an ambulance in attendance. Another concerned 49-year-old passer-by said: "There was a man on his back in the middle of the road and a bike near him. "The emergency services were amazing. Man, 41, dies after crash involving van near roundabout on A77
A man has died following a crash involving a van on the A77 in South Ayrshire. The incident, involving a Ford Transit Tipper, happened at the Sandyford Roundabout in Monkton at around 1.35pm on Monday. Emergency services attended, and the driver of the van, a 41-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other injuries as a result of the crash. Officers closed the road for investigations and reopened it at around 8.30pm. Police Scotland is urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward. Around 5.20pm on August 11, police raced to Montrose Terrace after reports of a road traffic collision. A woman has been rushed to hospital after being struck by a car on Monday evening on a busy Scots street. Around 5.20pm on August 11, police raced to Montrose Terrace in Edinburgh after reports of a road traffic smash. The incident involved a car and a female cyclist. The woman was transported to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. Inquiries are ongoing into the incident. Edinburgh Travel News warned locals and motorists on X. A message reads: "Serious RTC at Abbey Mount/Regent Road (possible pedestrian). Road closed, ambulance in attendance." A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 5.20pm on Monday, 11 August, 2025 we received a report of a crash involving a car and a bicycle on Montrose Terrace, Edinburgh. "The female cyclist was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. There were no other reported injuries. Enquiries are ongoing."
