Vanessa Kirby puzzles Fantastic Four fans as she strokes Pedro Pascal's face in latest intimate gesture

Daily Mail2 days ago
Vanessa Kirby left fans baffled Thursday as she affectionately stroked Pedro Pascal's face during a new interview while promoting their latest movie.
The co-stars have been on a press run in recent months to promote Fantastic Four: First Steps, in which they play married couple Reed Richards and Sue Storm.
Spending time together has seemingly brought the pair closer, with Vanessa, 38, and Pedro, 50, spotted showing each other support in public on several other occasions.
It's far from the first time the film stars have displayed their strong friendship, with the duo again appearing almost peculiarly close as they answered questions for Heart Radio this week.
And just a couple of weeks ago during Fantastic Four's premiere in Los Angeles, Pedro was pictured stroking Vanessa's baby bump as they posed on the red carpet.
The very public displays of affection have however sparked debate on social media, with some eagle-eyed fans branding their relationship slightly 'weird'.
But other fans were quick to point out that Vanessa was merely trying to ease Pedro's anxiety.
One person wrote: 'Guys calm down. Pedro suffers from some type of anxiety disorder. He needs to touch or be touched by people to make him calm down and feel comfortable.'
It's something Vanessa and Pedro have been open about, with the actress speaking about helping her pal through anxious moments in an interview last year.
Talking after they were spotted holding hands on-stage at San Diego Comic-Con last year, Vanessa told Vanity Fair: 'What happened is we were both incredibly nervous going out in front of thousands of people who love this comic.
'He wanted me to know that we were in this together, and I found it a lovely gesture and was very glad to squeeze his hand back.'
During a chat with Men's Health last month, Pedro revealed exactly how he copes with anxiety in difficult moments.
He said: 'I noticed, especially during the period of summer 2020, and kind of isolation and how long my FaceTimes were and my phone conversations, that I had started to make an effort to engage more, having previously lost that options in many ways.
'I remember back in high school I was always such a good talker with friends... and then I don't know how many days had gone by where we stopped doing that.
'It's something I've held onto very much. I was always one to reach out when I'm facing something that is challenging or making me anxious.'
Vanessa and Pedro's latest project together, Fantastic Four: First Steps, was released on Thursday.
It's the 37th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the second reboot of the Fantastic Four film series.
Directed by Matt Shakman, the movie sees the Fantastic Four protect their 1960s-inspired retro-futuristic world from the planet-devouring cosmic being Galactus.
Leading lady Vanessa looked sensational at the movie's many premieres during recent weeks.
Maternity style: At the movie's German premiere last month, Vanessa put her baby bump on display in a sleek black dress
Vanessa first revealed she was pregnant with her child last month as she showed off her bump at The Fantastic Four photocall in Mexico.
Last December, it was reported she was engaged to her boyfriend Paul Rabil after two years together.
Vanessa allegedly set to head down the aisle with lacrosse player, 39, after he popped the question, according to Page Six.

‘Fantastic Four: First Steps' scores Marvel's first $100 million box office opening of 2025

Marvel's first family has finally found box office gold. 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps,' the first film about the superheroes made under the guidance of Kevin Feige and the Walt Disney Co., earned $118 million in its first weekend in 4,125 North American theaters, according to studio estimates Sunday. That makes it the fourth biggest opening of the year, behind 'A Minecraft Movie,' 'Lilo & Stitch' and 'Superman,' and the biggest Marvel opening since 'Deadpool & Wolverine' grossed $211 million out of the gate last summer. Internationally, 'Fantastic Four' made $100 million from 52 territories, adding up to a $218 million worldwide debut. The numbers were within the range the studio was expecting. The film arrived in the wake of another big superhero reboot, James Gunn's 'Superman,' which opened three weekends ago and has already crossed $500 million globally. That film, from the other main player in comic book films, DC Studios, took second place with $24.9 million domestically. 'First Steps' is the latest attempt at bringing the superhuman family to the big screen, following lackluster performances for other versions. The film, based on the original Marvel comics, is set during the 1960s in a retro-futuristic world led by the Fantastic Four, a family of astronauts-turned-superhuman from exposure to cosmic rays during a space mission. The family is made up of Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal), who can stretch his body to incredible lengths; Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), who can render herself invisible; Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn), who transforms into a fiery human torch; and Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), who possesses tremendous superhuman strength with his stone-like flesh. The movie takes place four years after the family gained powers, during which Reed's inventions have transformed technology, and Sue's diplomacy has led to global peace. Both audiences and critics responded positively to the film, which currently has an 88% on Rotten Tomatoes and promising exit poll responses from opening weekend ticket buyers. An estimated 46% of audiences chose to see it on premium screens, including IMAX and other large formats. The once towering Marvel is working to rebuild audience enthusiasm for its films and characters. Its two previous offerings this year did not reach the cosmic box office heights of 'Deadpool & Wolverine," which made over $1.3 billion, or those of the 'Avengers'-era. But critically, the films have been on an upswing since the poorly reviewed 'Captain America: Brave New World,' which ultimately grossed $415 million worldwide. ' Thunderbolts," which jumpstarted the summer movie season, was better received critically but financially is capping out at just over $382 million globally. Like Deadpool and Wolverine, the Fantastic Four characters had been under the banner of 20th Century Fox for years. The studio produced two critically loathed, but decently profitable attempts in the mid-2000s with future Captain America Chris Evans as the Human Torch. In 2015, it tried again (unsuccessfully) with Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller. They got another chance after Disney's $71 billion acquisition of Fox's entertainment assets in 2019. Top 10 movies by domestic box office With final domestic figures being released Monday, this list factors in the estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Comscore: 1. 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps,' $118 million. 2. 'Superman,' $24.9 million. 3. 'Jurassic World Rebirth,' $13 million. 4. 'F1: The Movie,' $6.2 million. 5. 'Smurfs,' $5.4 million. 6. 'I Know What You Did Last Summer,' $5.1 million. 7. 'How to Train Your Dragon,' $2.8 million. 8. 'Eddington,' $1.7 million. 9. 'Saiyaara,' $1.3 million. 10. 'Oh, Hi!,' $1.1 million.

Film review: Marvel reboot just fantastic

Retro-futuristic action-comedy fires on all cylinders from outset Another week, another superhero franchise reboot. This time it's the Fantastic Four hoping to cash in, and the results are pretty impressive. First Steps is my kind of reboot. Just like the recent rebirth of Superman, Matt Shakman's film doesn't mess around with long-winded origin stories, instead firing you right into the action, and it's all the better for that.

Jessica Alba and Danny Ramirez 'confirm' relationship with romantic kiss in the street

It was a very sunny, happy day for films tars Jessica Alba and Danny Ramirez on Saturday - as they affectionately kissed and gazed in each other's eyes on the streets of California Jessica Alba and Danny Ramirez have made their emerging romance very public - popping outside for a smooch on the street in the middle of the day. The pair looked very loved up and even appeared to copy each other's style as they sported dark tops and grey joggers. ‌ Rumours of a romance emerged earlier in the week after 44-year-old Jessica and 31-year-old Danny enjoyed a dinner out together. And prior to this, the pair reportedly enjoyed a trip to Cancún together. ‌ On Saturday, Jessica and Danny were spotted in the California sunshine locking lips and smiling into each other's eyes. Both wore baseball caps and they could barely keep their hands off each other. ‌ The romantic exchange came soon after Danny received a floral arrangement - giving the impression he may have impressed his older girlfriend with a gift. Jessica beamed at the younger man - with the relationship believed to be her first since the announcement of her plan to divorce earlier this year. And it appears that swapping smooches with the Top Gun: Maverick star is going some way to repair Jessica's broken heart. There are expectations that the couple could be building their way towards a serious romance. ‌ A source told the Daily Mail - who have published snaps of the pair kissing: "Jessica's romance with Danny has taken a surprising turn. What started out as a summer fling feels like it's getting more serious, although she still wants to take things slow. "But at the end of the day Jessica has never been one to play the field. She's excited to see where this romance is headed." The Mirror has contacted representatives of both Jessica and Danny for comment. Fans were shocked at the beginning of the year when Jessica confirmed she had split from husband Cash Warren, 46, after 21 years of marriage. The couple share three children: Honor, 17, Haven, 13, and Hayes, 7. ‌ They revealed they were heading for divorce the following month as papers were served - and the case is believed to be ongoing. Jessica told fans she and Cash had separated in an Instagram post shared in Janaury. She wrote at the time: "I've been on a journey of self realization and transformation for years - both as an individual and in partnership with Cash. ‌ "I'm proud of how we've grown as a couple and in our marriage over the last 20 years and it's now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals." She added: "We are moving forward with love and kindness and respect for each other and will forever be family. Our children remain our highest priority and we request privacy at this time." The following month, PEOPLE magazine reported that the Fantastic Four star had filed for divorce in Los Angeles County court citing irreconcilable differences as the cause of the collapse of the marriage - and 27 December 2024 as the day they separated. The sad news came less than a year after Jessica celebrated the fact she and Cash had survived 20 years of marriage. Marking their anniversary in May 2024, she wrote in an online post: "I'm proud of us for making it this far. There is no real set of rules or guidance that can ever prepare you for what it means to commit to another person and choose to be family." She added at the time: "Through thick and thin we have continually found our way back to each other and have chosen one another. Cheers to us, I love you."
