Sabrina Carpenter accused of ‘glorifying paedophilia' & ‘acting like Andrew Tate's tradwife' after album cover gaffe

The Sun2 days ago

SABRINA Carpenter has quickly become the Queen of Pop, but her new album cover has sparked backlash from fans.
The 26-year-old has always been known for pushing the limit, from sexual innuendos in her lyrics to striking suggestive poses while on tour, but fans say her new album cover has gone too far.

Sharing the image of her new album cover, titled Man's Best Friend, on Instagram, Sabrina can be seen on all fours while a man dressed in black slacks — whose face is not visible — pulls her blonde hair.
The new album will be released in August and comes after Sabrina, who is worth over £8 million, won Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance at the Grammys earlier this year.
While she's often been praised for daring to show her sexual side, the new artwork has seen her be slammed for appealing to the male gaze and objectifying women.
'Tradwife' & 'Paedophilia'
Furious fans took over the Instagram post to share their thoughts, with one writing: "I get she's going for transgressive, but this is the opposite of transgressive in this era," before concluding, "She looks dumb."
"Pathetic. WTF is she thinking?" said another, while a third quipped: "Dumpster humanity."
"Album cover setting feminism back 100 years," another penned, while a fourth chimed in: "How to use violence against women as a bad buzz to make money, disgusting strategy."
A fourth added: "I get she's going for transgressive, but this is the opposite of transgressive in this era," before concluding, "She looks dumb."
But it seems eagle-eyed fans and critics are not that surprised by Sabrina's latest stunt.
Many have claimed the pop star has taken inspiration from the controversial film Lolita in recent years.
The film is based on the book by Vladimir Nabokov and explores the 'relationship' between a paedophile and a 12-year-old girl who becomes his stepdaughter while he abuses her.
Many have claimed Sabrina has copied scenes from the film multiple times and 'glorified paedophilia'.
One image of the blonde for W magazine shows her lying in the garden with a tiny sundress on, getting soaked by a sprinkler, much like the garden scene from Lolita.

Others have said the new cover photo of her upcoming album also reminds them of the film.
One took to TikTok saying: "The new Sabrina Carpenter photoshoot made me sick to my stomach because it reminds me of that scene in Lolita and now I'm seeing the comparison, it might have been the inspiration."
"She's been Lolitaing for a year a half no one noticed til now??" wrote one viewer.
But it's not just her racy images that have got her in trouble in the past.
Low key giving normalizing pedophilia and it's not the first time.

A clip of her supporting Taylor Swift at the Eras Tour in Mexico saw her describe herself as looking like a little girl before making an innuendo about sex.
In the outro to her hit song Nonsense, she said: "I'm full grown but I look like a niña (little girl).
"Come put something neat in my casita (small house)."
Fans took to X to say they were uncomfortable with the lyrics with one saying: "Ooooo idk bout that one. The implications certainly aren't great, to say the least."
Another wrote: "She could want 'something big' in her 'casita' all she wants, it's the 'I look like a niña' part that doesn't sit well."
"Low key giving normalizing paedophilia and it's not the first time I get this vibes from her. I mean, look at her....her whole image is so off-putting," a third added.
Sabrina Carptenter's Rise to Fame
SABRINA Carpenter's first role was as the lead in the Disney Channel series Girl Meets World. Between 2014 and 2017, she appeared in over 70 episodes.
She also signed with the Disney-owned Hollywood Records and released her debut single, Can't Blame a Girl for Trying, in 2014.
After four albums, she moved to Island Records in 2021.
Her fifth album, Emails I Can't Send (2022), had her hit singles Nonsense and Feather.
Around that time, Sabrina started to gain notoriety in the UK.
She opened for Taylor Swift at the Eras Tour in 2023 and then achieved wider commercial success with her sixth album Short n' Sweet, which was released earlier this year.
Number one singles from the album include Espresso and Please Please Please.
Missed the Mark?
Last week, the blonde bombshell released the lead single from the upcoming album, titled Manchild.
It quickly made its way to the top spot on both the Spotify U.S. and Global charts.

While many have criticised the new album cover, others have defended the pop star and said there's a deeper meaning behind the seemingly submissive image and album title.
Britton Rae, a novelist and poet said Sabrina was using a 'bait and switch' move to promote her album, and everyone was falling for it.
She said: "If you find this to be controversial, misogynistic, or offensive to women, then congratulations, you are giving Sabrina the reaction she intended to get.
"What Sabrina Carpenter is doing is absolutely genius."
The bait and switch technique means enticing people in with one idea (or drawing criticism like Sabrina has done,) only for it to be something totally different when it's fully presented
She continued: "I think it's going to be a story about her recognising that she has been doing this to herself due to the pressure of societal norms.
"I think this album is a bait and switch. She is baiting the public to get all riled up, thinking that she is making herself Man's Best Friend, making herself more palatable to men.
"Really she is just simply personifying how society already sees and views and pressures women into becoming. I think this album is going to tell the story of her recognizing that she has fallen victim to this societal norm as well."
If Sabrina's previous albums and lyrics are anything to go by, we're sure this album isn't going to be about her love for men or wanting to be submissive to one like the imagery alludes to.
The newest song, Manchild, is all about men being incompetent and not treating women right, and her fans are excited to hear the rest of the album.
One wrote: "This album feels like it's gonna be a GIANT middle finger to men and I am thrilled for it."
"Immediately when I saw this cover I thought 'she's saying that men treat women like dogs, like we are sub-human to them' and I was shocked to see the amount of people that didn't think the same thing," said another.

Pregnant Sophie Habboo shows off her blossoming baby bump in a hilarious slogan crop top as she shares series of stylish snaps

Pregnant Sophie Habboo proudly showcased her blossoming baby bump in a series of Instagram snaps shared on Friday. The former Made in Chelsea star, 30, flaunted her growing bump in a white crop top with the slogan 'Too Old For [Leonardo] DiCaprio ' printed on it as she posed for a mirror selfie. She also shared a stunning shot of herself in a white dress as she strolled through the streets of London while holding a iced coffee and her phone. Sophie also posted behind-the-scenes glimpses from the recording studio and a visit to the hairdresser as she documented the early days of her pregnancy. She wrapped up her photo dump with a fun picture of her husband, Jamie Laing, enjoying an ice cream, along with some delicious food she recently indulged in. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the Daily Mail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Sophie revealed earlier this week on her and Jamie's newly named podcast NearlyParents, that she has struggled with some aspects of her pregnancy. She confessed that when her second trimester hit, she felt like she was 'dying' and was dealing with a lot of hormones that made her frequently feel irritated. 'This girl has gone from a bit of a b***h to don't come near me,' she quipped. 'Up until week eight, I was smooth sailing. No good aversions, no sickness, so much energy, I was like what is every talking about this is unbelievable. 'Week eight hit and everyone's starting to grate to me a bit. Like that man sat next to me on the plane breathing, like is it illegal if I punch him in the face? 'If you're a fan of the podcast, I love you so much but you're not going to like me if you meet me at the moment.' Jamie said he struggled to get his head around Sophie's mood changes with pregnancy, recalling: 'I asked Sophie if she had any cravings and she said, ''No, the only craving I have is hating you''. 'I then spent an evening on Reddit looking at "Why does your wife hate her husband so much when they're pregnant". He went on: 'Sophie is teaching me to drive and I'm a little bit nervous in the car and she goes "You're a s**t driver". I'm literally in my head going "Oh my god she's hasn't eaten this is really scary". 'Sophie then gets so angry she says to me "I'm so angry I want to drive us both into the back of this car and kill us". And then she started crying!' Sophie confessed that the 'anger is uncontrollable' but that it 'was very fleeting' as she lamented how her 'enormous t*ts' also meant she couldn't fit in any of her clothes. Jamie candidly told listeners how he owed her a real apology after not taking her hormones seriously and threatening to leave her over her 'grumpiness'. Sophie said: 'Jamie was like "Oh you're just milking it, you fake all your hormones, there's no such thing". He went "Oh you're just faking all of this." I was like "Oh my god" as I'm lying there with my enormous t*ts out and I can't fit into a single thing.' Recalling the incident in question, she went on: 'We are leaving and I feel really sick this day and Jamie gets his camera out and goes "I'm going to vlog today". Like on my Sunday that I'm about to vomit all day long. 'And what happened was Jamie sits down and he goes "I'm going to call my friends and ask them what I should do about this. Because I'm going to have to leave you. I'm going to leave you because you're just so unbearable right now."' Jokingly pretending to break down in tears, she shared: 'And I went "You're going to leave me and I'm pregnant".' It comes after the couple took to their podcast to tell their fans all about their impeding parenthood for the first time, where Sophie revealed some of the struggles she'd been dealing with in her pregnancy In defence of his actions, Jamie quickly added: 'The amount of people who are going to call me an a*****e. Just a caveat to add - I had no idea the emotional journey that you go on, how your body changes. 'I just didn't understand the extreme things that go on and since having read stuff on Instagram, I am awe of what you go through. The hormone change is wild.' Showing their Chelsea roots, the couple also revealed that Sophie's worst craving so far was for caviar, recounting how they had dashed round London trying to find a shop that was open at 8pm. Jamie explained they eventually found a caviar store only to discover a single pot cost £240, as he declared: 'I was like "Well that craving has to stop there and then". Sophie revealed that after some Googling, she learned it is recommended that pregnant people avoid the expensive delicacy due to the risks of bacteria and mercury. However, she confessed that the risks were the only thing that stopped her eating it, otherwise would not have allowed the hefty price tag to put her off.

Moment Tube driver is caught KNITTING and watching videos on his phone while driving commuters

An easy-going tube driver was caught knitting and watching videos on his phone as he drove commuters around one of the busiest transport networks in the world. Striking footage shows the London Underground operative hard at work on a lion-themed garment as he pulls slowly out of Hendon Central Station in February 2025. The man's phone is also positioned comfortably in front of him so he can watch videos at his leisure. A witness who filmed the spectacle - which took place on a Northern Line train - commented disapprovingly, 'look at him... watching TV, pressing a couple of buttons'. He went on to reference the money the driver earns each year and claimed he can go on strike 'whenever he wants'. The witness later recalled: 'I was so surprised. 'I didn't expect to see someone meant to be at work being so casual about the job. 'Especially because at the time, there were tube strikes going on so it felt mad they were complaining about the job then relaxing on it. The man's phone is also positioned comfortably in front of him so he can watch videos at his leisure 'And, although I don't know how automatic the system is for the tubes, I remember thinking that this person has the passengers' lives in their hands. 'It felt crazy that this driver wouldn't take that more seriously.' Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed the driver in the video was sacked from his job. A spokesman said: 'This video was made earlier in the year. 'We carried out a full investigation and the person involved no longer works at TfL.' Many social media users have taken to TikTok to share their thoughts on the video. One person said: 'He's risking his career for a bit of TV.' Another added: 'The driver shouldn't be doing that, they should be focussing - that's dangerous.' But a number of people offered their support to the tube worker amid the criticism. Someone said: 'What do you want him to be doing? Steering?'
