₹1,543 crore transferred under Ladli Behna Yojana scheme: MP CM Yadav
His remarks came while addressing a programme organised for Ladli Behna Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and Social Security Pension Scheme on Saturday.
"₹1,543.16 crore has been transferred to the bank accounts of 1.27 crore women under the Ladli Behna Yojana scheme... We are also providing help through the PM Ujjawala Yojana scheme and have provided Rs 46 crore and 36 lakhs of the subsidy..." he said.
Meanwhile, CM Yadav took a holy dip in the Shipra river at Narsingh Ghat located in Ujjain district and offered prayers.
"I try to take a dip in the Shipra River every year here. It is an old spot and Narsingh Temple is located here, devotees come here to take a holy dip throughout the year, especially during the holy month of Sawan and earn virtue," CM Yadav told reporters.
Earlier, CM Yadav participated in the Kanwar Yatra in Ujjain and also showered flowers to welcome the Kanwar Yatris.
Yadav also highlighted that the state government would ensure tight security arrangements for all Kanwar Yatris, along with appropriate facilities. He further added that instructions in this regard were already issued.
The Chief Minister welcomed Kanwar Yatris with a shower of flowers. He also performed worship of Kanwar, lifted it, and along with Mahamandaleshwar of Agni Akhada, Uttam Swami, began Kanwar Yatra by walking on foot.
The Chief Minister said that the tradition of celebrating all festivals with enthusiasm has been initiated by the state government. With the blessings of God and saints, preparations for Simhastha-2028 in Ujjain are being carried out rapidly.
"We are making all preparations with the thought that even if events like Simhastha are held every year after 2028, there should be no difficulty. Keeping in view Simhastha-2028, a 'Simhastha Dharmik City' is also being constructed in Ujjain for setting up ashrams and other arrangements for saints, so that convenient facilities can be ensured for the large number of devotees visiting Ujjain," he said.
Addressing Kanwar Yatris, Chief Minister Yadav said there are many cultures in the world, and though there are 194 countries, no country begins any auspicious work by taking a vow with water. "Indian culture has always considered water as life itself, and a way of living. By the grace of God, we have been aware of the qualities of water for thousands of years."
'Sawan' holds a special place in Hindu mythology. Devotees undertake fasts and offer prayers to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva during this period. The chanting of Shiva mantras, singing bhajans (devotional songs), and performing Rudrabhishek (ceremonial bathing of Shiva Lingam with holy substances) are common practices observed with fervour across households and temples during 'Sawan' month.

Opposition leaders in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday came out in support of a teacher from Bareilly, who was booked under Section 353 (2) (making statements containing false information, rumour or alarming news) of the BNS for his poem, parts of which referred to the Kanwar Yatra. The FIR against Rajneesh Gangwar, a teacher at Bareilly's MGM Inter College, was registered on July 13, based on a complaint by an outfit named Kanwar Seva Samiti. The video of Mr. Gangwar reciting the poem, which recently went viral on social media, contains a portion where he says, 'Kanwar leke mat jana, tum gyan ka deep jalana, manavta ke seva karke tum sachche manav ban jaana [Don't get pots of holy water from the Ganga, light the lamp of knowledge, become a true human by serving humanity].' Sharing the video of Mr. Gangwar reciting the poem, former U.P. Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said in a post on X in Hindi, 'The greatest religion is that which leads us on the path of humanity.' Attacking the ruling BJP, Congress leader Anil Yadav said that while the Constitution promotes scientific thinking, humanism, and the spirit of inquiry among citizens, which Mr. Gangwar was trying to promote through his verse, elements in the State government aim to encourage 'superstition and irrationality and suppress voices'. Meanwhile, in a purported video on Tuesday, Mr. Gangwar said his poem was meant to educate students, and his intention was not to express negative sentiments about the yatra. 'If you listen to the whole poem, it was recited to educate children and tell them about incidents happening related to kanwariyas.'

SC seeks UP, Uttarakhand reply on plea against QR code mandate for food sellers during Kanwar Yatra
New Delhi, July 15 (UNI) The Supreme Court today granted one week's time to the states of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand to file their responses on a plea challenging the government directive mandating food sellers along the Kanwar Yatra route to display QR code stickers revealing owners' details. A bench of Justice MM Sundresh and Justice N Kotiswar Singh posted the matter for next Tuesday after noting that the yatra will conclude within 10 to 12 days. During the hearing, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand sought two weeks to file their replies. Deputy advocate general Jatinder Kumar Sethi appeared for the states. Senior advocate Shadan Farasat, representing the applicants, however, pressed for urgent hearing citing the time-sensitive nature of the issue. Senior advocates Chander Uday Singh and Huzefa Ahmadi appeared for other petitioners in the matter. The application seeks a stay on all directives requiring or facilitating public disclosure of ownership or employee identity of food vendors along the Kanwar Yatra routes in both states. It argues that the directions violate an interim order passed by the Supreme Court last year, which held that sellers cannot be forced to disclose their identities. Applicants Professor Apoorvanand and activist Aakar Patel have alleged that this year's QR code mandate circumvents the earlier court order and results in the disclosure of owners' names and identities, leading to religious profiling. Why Pushkar Dhami ordered ‘Operation Kaalnemi' during Kanwar Yatra
As the Kanwar Yatra, the annual pilgrimage of Shiva devotees, picks momentum, the Uttarakhand government has started a first-of-its-kind 'Operation Kaalnemi' to take action against imposters defrauding people in the name of Sanatan earlier this week on the orders of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the operation mainly targets the plains districts of Dehradun, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar. In just a few days, the police have detained over 220 'fake' this week, Dhami announced he has given instructions to officers to start Operation Kaalnemi. 'Many cases have come to light in the state wherein anti-social elements are cheating people, especially women, by disguising themselves as saints and sages. This is not only hurting the religious sentiments of people but also harming the image of social harmony and Sanatan tradition. In such a situation, if a person of any religion is found doing such acts, strict action will be taken,' Dhami posted on Kaalnemi draws its name from Kaalnemi, a demon in the Ramayana known for deceit. According to the epic, when Lakshman was wounded in battle, Lord Hanuman was sent to bring the life-restoring Sanjeevani herb. Ravan, desperate to stop him, summoned Kaalnemi to mislead Lord Hanuman. Disguised as a sage, Kaalnemi set up an ashram along Hanuman's path, hoping to trick him. But Lord Hanuman saw through the disguise and killed Kaalnemi before continuing on his mission. 'Just as the demon Kaalnemi tried to mislead people by disguising himself as a saint, similarly, many Kaalnemi are active in society, who are committing crimes by disguising themselves as religious people.
