God's Pit Crew sends crews to help St. Louis rebuild after devastating tornadoes

Yahoo20-05-2025

DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) – After devastating storms tore through the Midwest last week, local disaster relief non-profit, God's Pit Crew, is sending teams to St. Louis, Missouri.
An EF3 tornado hit, killing at least five people in the area and causing over a million dollars in damage. Winds maxed out at about 152 mph. Five thousand homes were affected. Recovery efforts are still going on, with a curfew in place to ensure everyone's safety.
Through the end of the month, at least 50 members of God's Pit Crew will be assisting those in need each day, with any type of cleanup or support.

'They will be on the ground serving, helping cut and remove damaged trees, debris, sitting and praying with families to just let them know that they're not alone, that someone is there to help and they'll be on the ground serving through May 31st,' said Carly Brashears, the Director of Media & Public Relations with God's Pit Crew.
God's Pit Crew has already sent multiple truckloads of supplies, like its blessing buckets, filled with water, canned food, blankets, and many other necessary things, to those in the area.
And for those at home, there is still time to volunteer to help; you can click here for more information.
Brashears says they are in talks with their contacts in Kentucky to see if they need to deploy teams there as well.

Denver weather: Another scorcher for Father's Day

DENVER (KDVR) — Unseasonably hot and mid-summer-like temperatures are the main feature of the Denver weather forecast for most of this week. Denver officially hit 90 degrees Saturday for the first time this year, and we can expect more 90s in the near future. FOX31 Weather: View the latest Denver forecasts, maps and radar Temperatures for Father's Day Sunday should be a few degrees warmer than Saturday, with highs around the metro in the mid-90s. There is a very small chance of an afternoon shower or storm, mainly after 3 pm. Most of us will remain dry and if we do see some rain in the metro, it will be very short-lived. It could get a little breezy tonight as lows drop down into the upper 50s and lower 60s. Winds will be out of the south and east anywhere from 10-20 mph with gusts as high 25 mph. This will all be done under mostly clear skies. Monday will again see high temperatures in the lower to middle 90s across the region. Winds, however, will be a little breezy with gusts up to 25 miles per hour from the northeast. Those winds may help keep temperatures in check. A cold front arrives Tuesday and will send temperatures down into the lower 80s. It will also bring a chance for spotty showers and thunderstorms — the best opportunity for rain over the next week. Wednesday will remain in the 80s as well. Highs in the 90s return Thursday and continue through next weekend, which may see temperatures approach the upper 90s. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Comfortable weather for the weekend before summer-like weather returns

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Quiet weather is in the forecast for this weekend, but as we head into the upcoming work week, the chance for heat, humidity, and storms increases. We started the weekend with some cloudy skies and rain showers to the south along the state line. Because of this, we had some drizzle down towards Hillsdale and Jackson this morning with decreasing clouds as you got closer to Lansing. Today we see partly to mostly sunny skies with temperatures a little cooler than where they should be only getting into the mid-70s area-wide. Clear skies stick with us tonight with temperatures into the low to mid 50s. So we have at least one more night of open windows before using the air conditioners through the upcoming work week. Temperatures warm up for Father's Day into the low 80s with mostly sunny skies. We will also start to feel the heat and humidity increase as well. Overnight lows for Sunday remain in the upper 50s. We start to feel like summer as we head into the upcoming work week with daytime highs into the low to mid 80s with dew points into the mid to upper 60s. Heading into mid-week showers and storms return for Tuesday with the best chance to see rain looking to be Wednesday. We are closely keeping an eye on the forecast for Wednesday as there is the potential for stronger storms. Keep checking back throughout the weekend and start of the work week for more information! Scattered PM Storms for Father's Day Weekend, Summer Begins Friday!

FATHER'S DAY WEEKEND:We're starting out in the low 70s this morning, and with dewpoints in the low 70s, there are some areas of fog or reduced visibility. We'll see mostly cloudy skies for today with scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. We aren't expecting anything severe, but they could definitely pack a punch. Highs today will be in the upper 80s. Sunday, we'll see a little more sun with highs near 90, and again those afternoon and evening pop up showers and storms. NEXT WEEK:We start out with scattered showers and storms, but more isolated to stray storms by the weekend. Monday we'll see mostly cloudy conditions with scattered afternoon and evening showers and storms and highs near 90°. Tuesday through Thursday, the chance for showers and storms decreases as we only see isolated storms and highs in the low 90s. Humidity levels will remain quite highs, so heat index levels could easily approach 100°. By the weekend, the rain chances continue to decrease, although with the humidity levels still fairly high, there will be continued chances for stray afternoon an evening showers and storms. Highs will be in the low to mid 90s. Thanks for watching WRBL News 3 and have a great Saturday! – Meteorologist Brian Thomas Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
