Claiming that he was targeted in a tyre puncture scam, Pranay Kapoor, who shared his ordeal in an Instagram post, said he noticed his car's dashboard warning light indicating a flat tyre. He drove to the nearest petrol station, where a staff member examined the tyre and said it needed to be removed for a proper check.
Once the car was lifted, the worker sprayed soapy water over the tyre, brushed it across the surface, and removed a visible screw. He then claimed there were four punctures in total, each requiring a 'mushroom patch' costing Rs 300, bringing the total repair cost to Rs 1,200.
The real damage
Sceptical, Kapoor skipped the repair and visited a trusted tyre shop. There, a qualified technician found only one genuine puncture. The other holes, he alleged, were likely created using a sharp, thorn-like tool.
Kapoor's tyre ultimately had to be replaced, costing him Rs 8,000. 'Don't make the expensive mistake I made,' he said in his video, urging viewers to share his experience.
How the trick works?
Such frauds often follow a set pattern:
· The worker draws attention to a visible object, like a nail or screw.
· While 'checking' the tyre, they discreetly poke additional holes.
· Multiple repairs are suggested, each charged individually.
The added 'repairs' can make a damaged tyre irreparable, forcing the customer to make an expensive replacement.

New Delhi: Ina significant crackdown, the Delhi Police have achieved two breakthroughs, including the busting of a gambling racket and the arrest of a notorious criminal in possession of an illegal firearm. Both operations were carried out by the Operations Cell and Kishangarh police station staff, demonstrating intensified efforts by Delhi Police to curb organised and street-level crime in the district. According to a press release issued by the South West District Police on Monday, a team from the Operations Cell apprehended six individuals involved in illegal gambling from the Kishangarh area. The accused, identified as Akil Khan (28), Rajeev Singh (44), Subham Kumar Chaurasiya (30), Chanderpal (50), Mahender Singh (60), and Washim (38), were caught red-handed during a raid conducted at a private dwelling based on specific intelligence input. 'With their arrest, stake money amounting to Rs 66,000 and a total of 104 playing cards were recovered from the spot,' the release stated. Acting on a tip-off received on August 8, the team conducted a swift raid under the leadership of Inspector Hari Singh and the supervision of ACP Vijay Singh. A case under the Delhi Public Gambling Act has been registered, and further investigation is underway. In a separate operation, the staff of the Kishangarh police station arrested a repeat offender identified as Sanjay, a 28-year-old resident of R.K. Puram. The arrest took place near Jhod, Pahadi Park in Munirka Village during routine patrolling on August 10. Upon noticing suspicious movement, police officers chased and apprehended the suspect, recovering a country-made pistol and two live cartridges from his possession. 'Sanjay is previously involved in seven cases of robbery, snatching, theft, and Arms Act violations registered at RK Puram and Kishangarh,' the press release stated. The accused, who is also reportedly a drug addict, confessed to using the illegal firearm in various crimes. An FIR under the Arms Act has been registered, and the weapon has been seized.

Bhopal: Ina shocking incident, which exposed the picture of law and order in the state, a gang of five to six armed men looted a branch of ESAF Small Finance Bank in the Khitola area of Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur district on Monday. Masked men arrived on separate bikes, entered the bank premises and, brandishing pistols, executed the robbery in broad daylight. The incident unfolded between 9:30 to 10 am at a branch of the Isaaf Small Finance Bank located near the National Highway in Sihora and Khitauli crossing. Initial reports suggested the robbers stole approximately 10 kg of gold and Rs. 6 lakh cash. However, police said that the assessment of gold and cash can be more as the investigations are underway. Following the incident, Khitauli and Sihora police teams arrived at the scene and commenced investigations. An official said that the CCTV footage from the bank and the surrounding areas is being examined. However, the direction of the robbers' escape remains unknown. This sensational robbery has raised serious questions about law and order in the city. Sources said that miscreants decamped with nearly 10 kg of gold and around Rs 6 lakh in cash, though police have not confirmed the exact figures. 'A probe is being carried out, and CCTV cameras are being scanned. The exact amount of gold or cash that was robbed is not clear yet,' CSP Sihora, Aditya Singh said. Singh added that the initial investigation is underway, adding that an extensive search has been initiated and all police stations have been alerted. 'Multiple teams have been deployed, and the accused persons will be arrested as soon as possible,' Singh added.

Man gets life in prison for rape-murder of 8-year-old girl
Puttaparthi: In a landmark verdict, the Anantapur Special POCSO Court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for rape and murderof an eight-year-old girl in Thoomukunta village. The accused, identified as Gangadhar, was also ordered to pay a fine of Rs 10,000. In a separate charge, the court also sentenced him to an additional five-year jail term and another Rs 10,000 fine for attempting to hide the crime by burying the victim's body. The case, which was registered at Hindupur Rural (upgraded) police station, was thoroughly investigated by a team led by DSPs Kanjeshan and KV Mahesh. They were supported by CIs Srinivasulu and Anjaneyulu, who filed a detailed charge sheet. The prosecution, spearheaded by Special APPs Eeshwaramma, Sujana, and Lakshminarayana, built a strong case by examining 17 witnesses. Their efforts, combined with the hard work of the police team and court staff, led to the swift conviction. District SP V Ratna praised the teams for their diligence, noting that the verdict sends a strong message that crimes against children will be met with swift and decisive justice under the POCSO Act.
