Pop Star Responds To ‘Boomers' Criticizing Her for Using AutoTune Live
The beloved U.K. music festival showcased a diverse range of music and acts-from classic rock to punk, hip-hop, and EDM-but apparently, some fans took offense at Charli's lack of a backing band and her extensive use of AutoTune during her set on June 28.
"Really enjoying these boomer vibe comments on my Glastonbury performance," tweeted Charli on Sunday. "It's super fascinating to me. Like the idea that singing with deliberate autotune makes you a fraud or that not having a traditional band suddenly means you must not be a 'real artist' is like, the most boring take ever."
"Yawn sorry just fell asleep xx," she added, exaggerating how she was over it.
The 32-year-old singer-whose album, brat, elevated her to a new level of fame and became a part of the pop culture landscape last year-said she honestly "enjoys the discourse" surrounding her work. "[In my opinion]," tweeted Charli, "the best art is divisive and confrontational and often evolves into truly interesting culture rather than being like kind of ok, easily understood and sort of forgettable."
Charli appeared to close the book on her brat era at the end of her Glastonbury set, as her signature lime-green curtain went up in flames while she danced. Later, she was spotted watching Gracie Abrams' set.
Stereogum notes that Charli still has a few more European festival appearances lined up over the summer (including an appearance at South Korea's One Universe Festival in mid-August), so fans can still feel very brat a few more times before it's all over.
Along with Charli's AutoTune, Glastonbury had something for everyone. The massive festival featured an appearance by Sir Ian McKellen during the Scissor Sisters' set, the return of The 1975, and a surprise collaboration between Olivia Rodrigo and goth rock icon Robert Smith of The Cure.

Zelensky gives Trump a golf putter
President Trump is putting a new flat stick in his golf bag, courtesy of a Ukrainian soldier who shares his love for the game and delivered by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Zelensky presented Trump with a new blade-style putter during his visit to The White House on Monday. The Ukrainian leader told the president that the club was given to him by Kostiantyn Kartavtsev, a junior sergeant in Ukraine's Armed Forces. The solider lost a leg in the first months of Russia's full-scale invasion, according to the Ukrainian government, noting golf became part of Kartavtsev's rehabilitation and helped him regain balance 'both physically and mentally.' Trump recorded a video for the Ukrainian fighter thanking him for the gift. 'I just watched you swing, I know a lot about golf, and your swing is great. You're going to be a very good golfer soon,' he told the soldier in the clip making the rounds online with Ukrainian subtitles. 'I want to thank you for this putter … is made with real love from you.' The president encouraged the Ukrainian soldier to keep playing golf and said he and Zelensky are working 'very, very hard to bring your country back to health.' 'The putter is beautiful, thank you. Every time I sink a putt I'll be thinking about you,' he quipped. Zelensky traveled to Washington to meet with Trump and European leaders as the U.S. helps to facilitate a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia amid the ongoing war in Eastern Europe. Cavs forward Larry Nance Jr. will debut a digital show on the ties between the NBA and soccer
CLEVELAND -- Larry Nance Jr. is going to shed some light on why so many NBA players have become big fans of international soccer. The Cleveland Cavaliers forward has teamed up with the Men in Blazers Media Network to launch a digital show called 'Switch the Play,' a weekly program that will feature those NBA players who are soccer aficionados and discuss happenings in the game. The first episode, featuring Alex Caruso of the NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder, debuts Thursday. 'I entered the NBA in 2015, and I was probably one of only a couple of guys in the league that could tell you who won the Premier League the previous season,' Nance said. 'Now, soccer is a constant conversation starter in the locker room. Soccer's popularity has grown so much over the past 10 years, as has the international influence on the NBA creating more and more players that follow the game consistently." The ties between soccer and the NBA have never seemed to run so deep. Many of basketball's top stars — Victor Wembanyama, Giannis Antetokounmpo, LeBron James, Jimmy Butler, Luka Doncic, James Harden, Joel Embiid and more — make no secret of their fascination with soccer. Wembanyama was on the field for a Paris Saint Germain-Manchester City game in Paris last winter when he and the San Antonio Spurs were there for a pair of games against the Indiana Pacers.
