Regina Spektor show interrupted by anti-Israel protesters screaming, ‘Free f------ Palestine!'
Singer Regina Spektor had to pause her concert on Saturday thanks to raucous anti-Israel protesters in the crowd. During Spektor's performance in Portland, Oregon, multiple people in the audience began yelling "Free Palestine," prompting the musician to pause her set and get security to escort them out. "You're just yelling at a Jew," she told the hecklers before they were directed to leave the premises. Video footage captured by a fan, and reshared on TikTok by music outlet Stereogum, showed the moment one member of the audience began yelling, "Free f------ Palestine!" at the singer inside Portland's Revolution Hall. The protesters' outburst was met by cries from fed-up concertgoers, one of whom chanted, "Am Yisrael Chai" – or "The people of Israel live" – in response. The footage showed Spektor, a Jewish woman who immigrated to New York from the Soviet Union when she was a child, appearing to communicate with someone offstage to get security involved. "I don't know what he thinks he's doing," the singer told the crowd, referencing the outburst. Some in the crowd responded by applauding Spektor, and apologizing for the interruption. "I really appreciate the security," she added in a soft tone, prompting laughter from the crowd. Some yelled, "We love you!" Still, the outbursts weren't over. Another individual started screaming, "Free, free Palestine! Say it! Say it!" Again, someone responded, "Am Yisrael Chai!" By the time the lights turned on in the venue, revealing the crowd, Spektor quipped, "I thought this was different than the internet. This is real life." The crowd applauded again. Still another protester spoke up, saying, "There's a genocide happening." Spektor addressed the heckler, saying, "You can leave the show if you want. This is not an internet comment section. I know that you are mistaking my show for a YouTube video––" "I'm not," the heckler replied. "You are," Spektor shot back. "I'm watching children dying. That hurts," the anti-Israel agitator added. "Yeah, I think you should go because this is not the place for that conversation," the singer said. Elsewhere, Spektor told the crowd, "The only reason I even speak English is because I came here to escape this s---. I only speak English because I came from a country where people treated Jews as othered, and I'm being othered here, and it sucks." Spektor has publicly spoken out about the Israel-Hamas conflict in the past. Just days after the October 7 Hamas massacre, she mourned for Israelis and Palestinians alike in an Instagram post. "My tears are endless but my heart has enough room… Room for murdered, raped, and kidnapped innocent Jews. Room for bombed innocent Palestinians suffering and dying in Gaza. Fury at Hamas whose mission is exterminating Jews while hiding behind Palestinian human shields." As the post went on, Spektor criticized Israel's government, but defended the nation and its people. "Israeli government is NOT its people, like any other government on earth. Netanyahu does NOT speak for all Israelis, or all Jews living across the world. In the Middle East – Israel is the ONLY democracy with a chance to vote/protest/change its government. The ONLY land where LGBTQ people are able to live safely. The ONLY land which doesn't mandate women's dress or behavior." Reps for Spektor and Revolution Hall did not immediately reply to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Regina Spektor Confronts Pro-Palestine Protesters at Concert: ‘You're Just Yelling at a Jew'
As the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza continues to rage and claim lives, protests in support of Palestine have been growing around the world — including at concerts. On Saturday, Regina Spektor's concert in Portland at Revolution Hall was disrupted after a handful of attendees yelled 'Free Palestine!' and caught the attention of the singer, according to Stereogum. Spektor, who is Jewish and emigrated from Russia when she was a child, has been public in her support of Israel. In October, on the anniversary of the day when Hamas led an attack from Gaza into Israel, including at Israel's Nova Festival, Spektor performed at a pro-Israel gathering in New York. In 2023, she rebuked Björk for her pro-Palestine post. More from Rolling Stone Kneecap Banned From Hungary for Posing 'National Security Threat' Police End Investigation Into Kneecap's Glastonbury Performance BBC Dropping All 'High Risk' Performances After Bob Vylan's Glastonbury Performance As fan footage captured from the concert showed and posted by Stereogum, Spektor was onstage performing when someone yelled 'Free fucking Palestine!' which disrupted the show, forcing the singer to stop performing and address the situation. 'You're just yelling at a Jew,' she said. 'I don't know what he thinks he's doing. I really appreciate the security.' Many in the audience applauded and cheered in support of Spektor. 'We had a really hard time last night, when I said, 'Shalom aleichem,'' a Hebrew phrase meaning 'peace be upon you.' Audience members responded with, 'Am Yisrael Chai,' which translates to 'the people of Israel live.' Spektor attempted to locate the protestors in the crowd, asking, 'Where are you?' But another audience member told her they were 'on his way out,' per the footage. Spektor commented, 'I thought this was different than the internet. This is real life.' The crowd shouted support for Spektor as another protester exclaimed, per Stereogum, 'I'm watching dying children. That hurts.' Spektor said, 'I think you should go because this is not the place for that conversation. I'm a real person who came here to play music. If anybody wants to walk out, this is your chance. Does anybody else want to take a walk? You can.' A few audience members could then be seen leaving. Spektor continued: 'The only reason I even speak English is because I came here to escape this shit. I only speak English because I came from a country where people were treating Jews as others, and now I'm being othered here, and it sucks. It'll be nice if one of my family's generation didn't have to go to a new country and learn a new language, just stay put, have nice lives, you guys.' Footage of the whole exchange can be seen here. Protests have also come from the stage, with bands such as Kneecap vocalizing their support for Palestine. Their comments have led to them being investigated and recently being banned from a festival in Hungary. Kneecap's Mo Chara faced a terror charge in the U.K. for allegedly displaying the Hezbollah flag and yelling, 'Up, Hamas, up Hezbollah,' and 'The only good Tory is a dead Tory' at a November 2024 concert. Also, the U.S. Department of State revoked British punk-rap duo Bob Vylan's visa after they performed at Glastonbury, where they encouraged the crowd to chant 'free Palestine' and 'Death, death to the IDF [Israel Defense Forces].' On Monday, the Associated Press reported that Israeli strikes killed at least 36 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, as dozens of children and adults have starved to death in just the month of July. Last week, the United Nations' World Food Program said the famine in Gaza has reached 'new and astonishing levels of desperation, with a third of the population not eating for multiple days in a row.' According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, there have been 40 hunger-related deaths this month. Folk Bitch Trio Present New Single/Video, 'Hotel TV'
'Hotel TV' follows last month's ' Moth Song,' described by Stereogum as 'lush' and hailed by Hearing Things as 'a gorgeous soundscape.' In keeping with Now Would Be A Good Time's chronicling of the brutally familiar moments at the end of relationships, 'Hotel TV' is a hypnotic, late-night reverie about 'having a sex dream about somebody else while next to your partner, and your partner being a liar,' explains Pilkington. At the song's conclusion Pilkington sings: 'Cause I lay beside him / In the night / And I had a filthy dream / To the noise of the hotel TV.' Of the song's video, Pilkington says, 'Our vibe check for the music video was dire country town, bored and cheeky, loosely inspired by both our childhoods and what we've had to do for fun touring regional Australia." Now Would Be A Good Time tells vivid, visceral stories. Folk Bitch Trio's music sounds familiar, built on a foundation of the music they've loved throughout their lives–gnarled Americana, classic rock, piquant, and clear-eyed balladry. Yet the songs are modern and youthful, with the trio singing acutely through dissociative daydreams, galling breakups, sexual fantasies and media overload— all the petty resentments and minor humiliations of being in your early twenties in the 2020s. The songs on Now Would Be A Good Time were workshopped on tour and written specifically with their shared connection in mind. Recording in Auckland with Tom Healy (Tiny Ruins, Marlon Williams) during winter 2024, the band built out these songs with minimalist, idiosyncratic arrangements, and, with voices and guitar taking center stage, recorded to tape as the final missing thread in bringing the album to life. The strongest link between the trio, aside from friendship, is music. 'We all talked about loving music when we were growing up, and knowing we wanted music to be a big part of our lives,' says Pilkington. 'But for me at least, when I looked into the future, it was this relatively mysterious thing.' Joining forces as a group demystified that future. That feeling—of music as an innate calling, as opposed to hobby or folly—was justified. Folk Bitch Trio have already toured across Australia, Europe and the US, supporting bands as disparate as King Gizzard, Alex G and Julia Jacklin. They've signed with Jagjaguwar, a home for singular icons and iconoclasts, and found their first fans with their dazzling harmonies and acerbic lyricism that transcend genre expectations and audience lines. Folk Bitch Trio announce their debut album release tour of New Zealand, playing headline shows in Auckland, Wellington & Christchurch.

Justin Bieber features Druski on SWAG album track inspired by viral standing on business moment
Justin Bieber made a surprise return to the music scene with the release of his seventh studio album, SWAG, at midnight on July 11, just hours after unveiling the project and its tracklist on Instagram. The 21-track album includes collaborations with Gunna, Lil B, Sexyy Red, and notably, comedian Druski, who appears on three tracks: 'Soulful,' 'Therapy Session,' and the internet's current obsession, 'Standing on Business.' Among the most talked-about songs is 'Standing on Business,' which draws directly from a viral moment earlier this year when Bieber clashed with paparazzi outside Soho House in Miami. Frustrated by their persistence, he declared, 'It's not clocking to you that I'm standing on business, is it?' Many online now believe the encounter was part of a calculated lead-up to this release. According to Stereogum, Bieber co-produced the album with Carter Lang, Dylan Wiggins, and others. Reactions to the album and the viral tie-in have been mixed. Some users called Bieber a 'marketing genius,' while others said the meme lost its appeal once it became part of a celebrity brand. Druski's inclusion also drew attention, with fans calling it both 'hilarious' and 'unserious.' Promotion for SWAG featured billboard campaigns across New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Reykjavík. Some included a photo of Bieber with wife Hailey and their 11-month-old son, Jack Blues. Hailey also joined the marketing push, reposting an image to her Instagram Story with a cheeky nod to her husband's quote: 'Is it finally clocking to you f**king losers?' The release of SWAG also follows a turbulent few years for Bieber, including the cancellation of his Justice World Tour due to health issues and a reported $20 million debt settled by former manager Scooter Braun. Since then, Bieber has released music sporadically while starting a family and quietly building anticipation for a return. As SWAG dominates streaming platforms, it's clear that Bieber's mix of controversy, family focus, and meme-savvy marketing is keeping fans—and critics—talking.

Lauryn Hill plays to near-empty stadium at Essence Festival in New Orleans
Lauryn Hill performed to a near-empty Caesars Superdome during the Essence Festival of Culture in New Orleans after her set was delayed by hours due to scheduling issues. The eight-time Grammy winner was scheduled to perform on Friday, July 4, but did not take the stage until 2:30 a.m local time on Saturday, July 5, according to and Stereogum. By the time Hill began her set, only several hundred people remained in the stadium, which could accommodate up to 83,000 attendees. Despite the sparse crowd and late hour, Hill engaged with the audience, bantering and taking requests during her performance. She was also joined on stage by her sons, Zion Marley and Joshua 'YG' Marley for parts of her set, which concluded at 3:37 a.m. Hill, who has previously been known for late arrivals, appeared to handle the situation calmly, with reports indicating that the festival's schedule had run behind throughout the evening. Some performances finished almost an hour later than planned. Videos shared on TikTok showed the near-empty venue, prompting many fans to defend Hill on social media, stating the delays were beyond her control and expressing support for the singer of 'Doo-Wop (That Thing).' The Essence Festival 2025 is set to conclude on Sunday, July 6, with a lineup including Jill Scott, Boyz II Men, Summer Walker, and Jazmine Sullivan.
