Neil Young, 79, performs his favourite song live for the first time in 42 years. But his concert sparks outrage

One of the most important figures both culturally and musically in the rock scene is Neil Young. Neil Young played his first full show of the year Friday night at a special benefit for Ontario's Lakefield College School on the campus grounds. About halfway through the show, he played "My Boy," a song from his 1985 album, Old Ways. It's a song Neil hasn't performed since 1983, according to Stereogum. The mid-1980s country album yielded three singles—but "My Boy" wasn't one of them. A deep cut, the song remains largely unknown outside of Neil Young's most devoted fanbase. Springstreen Slams 'Corrupt, Incompetent, and Treasonous' Trump Administration

Bruce Springsteen has lost of his none of edge or his willingness to speak truth to power. In just the latest example, the rock icon excoriated Donald Trump from the stage throughout a Springsteen and E Street Band concert in Manchester, U.K. on Wednesday, describing the U.S. as being 'currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration.' 'The mighty E Street Band is here tonight to call upon the righteous power of art, of music, of rock 'n roll in dangerous times,' a passionate Springsteen said speaking from the stage in before playing the 'Land of Hope and Dreams.' Tonight we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experiment to rise with us, raise your voices against authoritarianism and let freedom ring!' Later on in the concert, according to local reports, Springsteen returned to bashing Trump. Stereogum reported that before a solo rendition of 'House Of A Thousand Guitars,' Springsteen said, 'The last check on power after the checks and balances of government have failed are the people, you and me. It's in the union of people around a common set of values now that's all that stands between a democracy and authoritarianism. At the end of the day, all we've got is each other.' And still later in the set, Stereogum reported that Springsteen gave a lengthy speech before playing his song 'My City Of Ruins.' 'There's some very weird, strange, and dangerous shit going on out there right now. In America, they are persecuting people for using their right to free speech and voicing their dissent. This is happening now. 'In America, the richest men are taking satisfaction in abandoning the world's poorest children to sickness and death. This is happening now. In my country, they're taking sadistic pleasure in the pain they inflict on loyal American workers. They're rolling back historic civil rights legislation that has led to a more just and plural society. They are abandoning our great allies and siding with dictators against those struggling for their freedom. They are defunding American universities that won't bow down to their ideological demands. They are removing residents off American streets and, without due process of law, are deporting them to foreign detention centers and prisons. This is all happening now.' Springsteen conclude, 'A majority of our elected representatives have failed to protect the American people from the abuses of an unfit president and a rogue government. They have no concern or idea for what it means to be deeply American. The America l've sung to you about for 50 years is real and regardless of its faults is a great country with a great people. So we'll survive this moment. Now, I have hope, because I believe in the truth of what the great American writer James Baldwin said, he said 'in this world there isn't as much humanity as one would like, but there's enough.' Let's pray.' Springsteen, who is currently on the global The Land of Hope and Dreams Tour, is no stranger to fierce criticism of Trump and has been a staunch critic of Donald Trump throughout his first term as president. In October 2019, Springsteen said in an interview with CBS This Morning that Trump 'doesn't have a grasp of the deep meaning of what it means to be an American.' Did Bon Iver's Justin Vernon and Cristin Milioti have a baby? Truth about photo that has fans confused

A photo of Bon Iver's Justin Vernon and actress Cristin Milioti holding a baby has led to fan speculation about a possible personal connection or hidden meaning in the band's new visual material. The image, styled like a family portrait, features Vernon seated with a baby on his lap, while Milioti stands behind him with her hands on his shoulders. It was first seen in the behind-the-scenes book for Bon Iver's 2025 album SABLE, fABLE. Despite the intimate composition, there has been no confirmation of a relationship or shared parenthood between the two. Milioti, known for How I Met Your Mother and The Penguin, has made several public appearances this year with no signs of pregnancy. Neither she nor Vernon has addressed the image directly. The image's inclusion in SABLE, fABLE materials appears to align with the album's artistic themes rather than reveal personal developments. Music site Stereogum and discussions on the Bon Iver subreddit suggest the photo may be conceptual, contributing to the emotional storytelling behind the project. In a recent interview with the New York Times Popcast, Vernon reflected on personal milestones and unmet expectations, stating, 'Boohoo, I thought I'd have kids, a wife, and that kind of love in my life. But I'm healthy, I'm happy. I have love in my life everywhere I look.' Milioti's previous collaboration with Bon Iver includes a 2021 cover of '715 Creeks,' reflecting her long-standing admiration for the band. Her appearance in the new album's visuals may be a creative continuation of that connection.

Elton John And Brandi Carlile Team Up For New Album ‘Who Believes In Angels?'

Elton John and Brandi Carlile He might have completed his final tour in 2023, but legendary musician Elton John isn't stepping back from the spotlight any time soon. For his latest project, the 'I'm Still Standing' singer has teamed up with country star Brandi Carlile for the new collaborative album Who Believes in Angels? out now. The album musically represents an amalgamation of both John's and Carlile's sounds, blending Carlile's folk and country sensibilities with John's signature brand of pop. It paid off in spades for both artists, but it didn't come without its share of difficulties throughout the process. 'This record was one of the toughest I've ever made, but it was also one of the greatest musical experiences of my life. It has given me a place where I know I can move forward,' John said of the LP, per Stereogum. 'Who Believes In Angels? feels like going into another era and I'm pushing the door open to come into the future. I have everything I've done behind me, and it's been brilliant, amazing. But this is the new start for me. As far as I'm concerned, this is the start of my career Mark 2.' He expanded further on that identity crisis in an interview with Billboard earlier this week. 'Nobody wants another Elton John album like the other 35 [I've made] He also extended that mindset to Carlile's creative tendencies in the studio. 'I know she can write those beautiful Americana songs like she's done on all her albums,' he said. 'I love those things, but I wanted to push her to say, 'Hey, you're capable of doing so much more and varying stuff, because there's nothing you cannot do.'' Carlile, for her part, counts the experience of working with John as one of the most valuable experiences of her life. 'I'm still reeling from the fact that I got to do it,' she confessed. 'I think all ships rise with Elton John's standards for songwriting, and it was an incredibly challenging and inspiring environment to work in, everybody throwing in ideas, everybody listening to everybody else's ideas. It felt like a family.'

Kali Uchis Kicks Off ‘Sincerely' Era With ‘Sunshine & Rain'

Kali Uchis FilmMagic The past two years have arguably been the most eventful in Kali Uchis' life and career. The Grammy-winning singer returned in 2023 with her third studio album Red Moon in Venus, and she kicked off 2024 in a big way with her fourth album Orquídeas and the birth of her first child two months later. Now, Uchis is laying the groundwork for her next album Sincerely, marking a third straight year where the 'Telepatía' singer will be releasing a full-length project. To give fans a taste of the upcoming LP, she's released 'Sunshine & Rain…' as the lead single from the album. The song is a tender ode to a loved one in her life, presumably a lover like her partner Don Toliver, though her love has also been overflowing for her baby son over the past year. The heartfelt track opens with a home video audio snippet of Uchis' mother wishing her a good morning as the Colombian crooner serenades someone close to her in her life. 'Through sunshine and rain, as seasons change / We all need somebody that makes the Earth feel heavenly / Maybe I'll be that somebody 'cause you're that someone to me,' she sings on the chorus. With Sincerely being her first album as a mother and her debut with Capitol Records, the project in many ways marks the beginning of a new chapter for Uchis. 'I have boundless gratitude for my silent ascent throughout the years and am very much looking forward to what's next," she remarked of the label move earlier this month, per Stereogum. She went on to hint at the album's focus on her personal world and home life in a social media video announcing the album's release. 'I dream of a home that even time will lie down and be still for; a place where everything works out the way it should,' she mused. Sincerely is set for release May 9.
