Shiv Sena (UBT) stages unique protest in Dombivli against ‘boxer minister' and ‘online card-playing minister'

Time of India3 hours ago
KALYAN: As part of the state-wide Jan Aakrosh protest organised by the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) against certain ministers in the Maharashtra government, a unique demonstration was held in Dombivli.
During the protest, participants staged symbolic boxing to target the so-called 'boxer minister' accused of assaulting a waiter, and enacted a mock card game to ridicule the minister who was caught playing online cards during the Assembly session. These symbolic acts were aimed at exposing alleged misconduct and embarrassing the government.
The protest was led by Shiv Sena (UBT) Kalyan District President Dipesh Mhatre. Addressing the gathering, party workers alleged that the actions of these ministers had tarnished Maharashtra's image. They demanded strict action against such ministers to restore public trust.

Uddhav proposes ‘Bhrashtachar Pe Charcha' as he trains his guns on MVA ministers, attacks Fadnavis for protecting them

Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena (UBT) Monday launched a sharp attack on the ruling BJP-led Mahayuti government in Maharashtra, staging a protest at Mumbai's Shivaji Park against what it called the 'brazen protection' of tainted ministers. It also launched a statewide protest at all the district collector's offices, marked by sloganeering and pointed references to specific leaders of the ruling alliance. Party workers called out various names, including ministers Manikrao Kokate, who was accused of playing rummy during the Assembly session; Bharat Gogawale, who was alleged to have engaged in black magic; and Sanjay Shirsat, who faced accusations of possessing a bag of cash in a hotel room. Shiv Sena (UBT) announced that the agitation will continue across districts until the 'corruption Cabinet' is dismantled. Addressing the gathering at Shivaji Park after the demonstration, Thackeray instructed his party cadre to take the fight beyond rallies and into everyday conversations. Drawing a parallel with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 2014 campaign, he said, 'Modi had 'Chai Pe Charcha'.' 'Now, wherever you go — at tea stalls, in salons — start 'Bhrashtachar Pe Charcha'. Avoid only the shady bars, like Savali, owned by Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam. This protest should be continued till the corrupt ministers are removed,' he said. Thackeray also launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, saying that he feels pity for him since he cannot muster the courage to take action against 'corrupt' ministers. 'He has a brute majority, and his bosses sit in Delhi, yet he cannot muster the courage to sack the corrupt ministers. Even if we assume that he has not indulged in corruption himself, why is he covering up for others? We know that the BJP has no candidate who can be its national party president, but don't you also have anyone to replace these tainted ministers?' he questioned. Accusing the BJP of being the 'Bhrashtachari Janata Party', Thackeray mocked Fadnavis, saying 'He is not a chief minister, but a 'thief minister'. The Congress has given him a good name.' He challenged Fadnavis to 'throw off the pressure from Delhi' or risk being 'swept away' by public anger. 'In China, if someone says something against the government, they disappear. Here, too, similar things have happened; the Vice President was removed and he is now missing — show us where he is,' Thackeray said, referring to Jagdeep Dhankhar, who suddenly resigned as Vice President last month. Thackeray inquired about Dhankhar's disappearance and urged the BJP to disclose his whereabouts. He accused the Mahayuti alliance of pushing Maharashtra to 'the front row of corruption' while relegating it 'to the back row in development'. 'They have time to run dance bars and carry cash bags, but not to address farmers' problems,' he said.

Stampede tragedy: BJP, JD(S) protest against Congress govt in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: BJP and JD(S) MLAs and MLCs on Monday staged a protest in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Vidhana Soudha premises, ahead of the Monsoon Session, condemning the Congress-led Karnataka government over the June 4 stampede at Chinnaswamy Stadium that claimed 11 lives. The legislators held placards and raised slogans against the government. The placards bore the slogans accusing the government of mishandling the event. The placards carried messages such as 'why the event was held with just a day's notice, knowing that lakhs will gather'? 'Is it fair to punish police officers for the blunder of the government'? 'Is it right for the CM to go to taste Dosa, even after knowing that people died in the stampede tragedy'? 'Innocents killed for the Congress leaders' photo-ops with cricketers' and 'government directly responsible for the deaths of 11 young men and women'. Addressing the protesters, BJP State President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra criticised the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, cabinet ministers, and the government for acting irresponsibly. "Yesterday, the leaders of both the BJP and the JD (S) met and discussed issues to be addressed in the House. Today, BJP as well as JD (S) MLAs are protesting against the state government's attitude and its irresponsible behaviour because 11 persons lost their lives during the stampede." "The state government, instead of taking responsibility, blamed officials, police officers and suspended them. Now, their suspension has been revoked. 'The CM, Deputy CM, and Home Minister should have taken moral responsibility. Instead, they targeted innocent officers,' he said. "Farmers in the state are protesting on the streets due to a shortage of fertilizers. No solutions are being provided for irrigation projects in North Karnataka. There is no discussion on these issues. We have resolved to raise these matters in the Assembly. Symbolically, legislators from both parties have staged a protest," he stated. "All these issues will be raised inside the Assembly. We demand that the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and the irresponsible government take responsibility," Vijayendra asserted. The Leader of the Opposition, R. Ashoka, Legislative Council Opposition Leader, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, and JD(S) Opposition Leader Suresh Babu were present on the occasion. Opposition Deputy Leader Aravind Bellad, Legislative Council Opposition Chief Whip N. Ravikumar, former ministers of BJP and JD (S), MLAs, and members of the Legislative Council were also present during the protest.
