Hundreds enjoy free Easter fun day event in Mold
Heavy rain prior to the event meant organisers had to move the event to the Daniel Owen Square and reduce the activities it was due to provide, despite all this, families turned up in their hundreds to enjoy the day.
Around 800 attendees enjoyed the event which included visits from Peter Rabbit and Bugs Bunny, who along with volunteers, issued over 600 free Easter eggs, within the first 90 minutes of the event.
Character visits also included Stitch, Skye (Paw Patrol), The Hulk and Spiderman. Children enjoyed the free Easter craft table which was incredibly busy throughout the event, the free prize draw to name the giant unicorn and the Easter trail around the square, plus the very popular Mega Tombola.
Spider, man and the Hulk were among those in attendance (Image: Jane Evans) Jane Evans, Mold Town Council events and community engagement officer, said: "It was touch and go as to whether we were going to have to cancel the event due to the weather and also the forecast sites for the Saturday were all predicting rain, but thankfully we decided to proceed with a smaller event and Flintshire Markets Team where able to accommodate us on the square at last minute.
"I am so glad we didn't have to cancel as it was fantastic to see so many families at the event and lots of happy faces.'
"I would also like to say a big thank you to our local businesses and residents who contributed to the event; Mega Electrical NW Ltd, Celtic Financial Planning Ltd, Barnard Engineering Ltd, Beaufort Park Hotel, Chainstore Outlet, Formulas Elite Travel, Swayne Johnson Charitable Trust, Williams Estates, Academy of Design, KMA Tool Hire & Sales, Tesco, All About You, Tate & Lyle, Mark Isherwood MS, Rachael Drew and also those who wish for their donation to be kept anonymous."
(Image: Jane Evans) MORE NEWS:
She added: "Events in Mold rely very much on volunteers, without our amazing volunteers, events such as this one just wouldn't happen and Mold Town Council would like to thank all the volunteers who helped at the Easter Fun Day."
Mold Town Council is currently appealing for new volunteers. Anyone interested in volunteering at Mold Town Council forthcoming events: Live on the Square (May 4), 80th Anniversary of VE Day (May 11) and Mold Carnival (July 6) can email events@moldtowncouncil.org.uk or telephone 01352 758532.

Royal Mint most valuable 50p coins as 10 rarest 50p revealed
We are all being urged to check our change for these valuable coins which, in some cases, are being sold for more than 400 times their face value on online auction sites such as eBay. The famous Kew Gardens 50p was recently knocked off the top spot of rarest 50p coins in the UK when the Royal Mint released the Atlantic Salmon coin. This coin was released with a mintage of just 200,000, the Royal Mint said, narrowly beating the Kew Gardens 50p which had a mintage of 210,000. Other rare designs include Olympic-themed 50ps minted in 2011. Since moving to pounds and pence in 1971, more than 70 variations of the 50p coin have been minted, including several rare designs which could be worth a lot more than 50p. Rarest 50p coins in circulation the UK? The Royal Mint recently named the Atlantic Salmon 50p as the coin as the rarest currently in circulation in the UK, with just 200,000 copies minted. The coin knocked the 'highly collectable' 2009 Kew Gardens 50p off the top spot for the first time in 15 years, the official maker of British coins said. The Kew Gardens 50p sells for £156.25 on average, but one seller received over £700 for one when they sold it on eBay. The other rarest coins stem predominantly from the 2011 Olympics, with the wrestling, football and judo coins among the most valuable. Only 1.1million of each of these coins were produced. Flopsy bunny and Peter Rabbit designs which were produced in 2018 are also highly valuable. Recommend Reading These coins - 1.4 million of which were minted - depict the characters from Beatrix Potter's novels and celebrate the life of the English writer and these sell for around £5. In 2019, 500 million coins were produced, with three new 50p designs. These included one of Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes, Paddington Bear at St Paul's Cathedral and the Tower of London. What makes a coin valuable? The 50 pence piece has become the most valued and collected coin in the UK, with many collectable designs appearing on its heptagonal canvas. Its 27.5mm diameter makes it the largest of any British coin, and allows space for decorative pictures. It has often been used to celebrate big events over the past 50 years of British history. The rarest coins tend to be of the greatest value, with the mintage (number of coins with each design made) being the fundamental attraction for collectors. Along with the design, other aspects of the coin which increase value are the condition of the coin and whether it has an error in its design. The way in which it is sold can also determine the coin's value - while some coin collectors will bid vast amounts of money on eBay or at auction, others opt for more robust valuations by selling via a coin dealer. Top 10 most valuable 50p coins, according to Royal Mint Here is a list of the top 10 most valuable coins, when they were made and how many were minted:

I took my family to the new Nickelodeon Land in Turkey with rides and character meets – here's how to get free entry
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) WHO lives in a pineapple under the sea? Not SpongeBob SquarePants any more. The yellow cartoon character has a new home on Turkey's southern coast at the impressive Land Of Legends theme park. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 5 The fab new Nickelodeon Land in Turkey 5 Have endless fun at Antalya's Nickelodeon Hotel Credit: Supplied 5 Unwind in style at the Rixos Premium Belek Credit: Supplied He's brought along all his pals to its new Nickelodeon Land — and I was one of the first there to check them out. The themed area neighbours Adventure Land and the exotic Aqua Land in the vast entertainment complex in Antalya. Nickelodeon Land consists of three areas — the underwater Bikini Bottom from SpongeBob SquarePants; intergalactic Star Trek: Wild Galaxy, based on Star Trek: Prodigy; and the open-air Adventure Bay from PAW Patrol. And just steps away is a plush new Nickelodeon hotel, featuring 238 themed bedrooms and its own waterpark-like outdoor pool where you can get 'slimed' for real, Nickelodeon style. Sounds totally retro, right? There's a definite nod to the nostalgia of 90s Nickelodeon. Think Rugrats and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as well as little ones' modern favourites, such as Chase from Paw Patrol, Dora The Explorer and Nickelodeon's cartoon reboot of Star Trek. I got stuck into the action at Bikini Bottom, my favourite area, which transports visitors to a neon, SpongeBob-themed underwater landscape. The standout attraction is the Fiery Fist O'Fun, a reference to a classic SpongeBob episode. The ride is like a ferris wheel on steroids, fast-paced enough to make your stomach drop — in the best way. But if that is not your style, take a spin on the Jellyfish Jam swings. New Nickelodeon land to open in Brit-loved holiday hotspot next year - with Paw Patrol rides and Spongebob attractions Or you can pootle around the land in overhead blimps, dubbed Sandy's Rockets. Plankton's Plunge is another must for thrill-seekers. As the name suggests, it drops you from a squeamishly scary height. Then there's the Crazy Carnival Ride, where you can battle against your family in a virtual shoot-out. Aside from the rides, my highlight had to be meeting the chipper yellow sponge himself. At various points in the day, each of the characters pop up for meet-and-greet sessions, so you can snap a picture with Squidward or pose with Patrick. Giant pineapple Meanwhile, Chase and the gang from Paw Patrol can be found hanging out at Adventure Bay, where rides are aimed at the littlest of adventurers. It's not just about the kids, though. There's plenty of spaces that even Mum and Dad will enjoy. The Snick Lounge, a games room and sports bar, hosts live music where you can bop away while enjoying a tasty cocktail. For a proper place to unwind, head to the luscious Anjana Spa which is worlds away from the neon orange and splat motifs that adorn the rest of the hotel floors above. Although, you may spot SpongeBob in subtle murals dotted around the space, donning his very own robe and head towel, or striking a yoga pose. There are even more character nods across the main Nickelodeon Hotel, where the rooms are as comfortable as they are vibrant. 5 Wild Galaxy is out of this world 5 Emily Downes meets SpongeBob at the new theme park Each floor is themed around a character — think jungle motifs for Dora The Explorer and industrial pipes for the adventures of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. If all the Nickelodeon colours get too much, though, hotel guests can enjoy free transfers to Rixos Premium Belek, a sister hotel down the road that has its own private beach as well as pools, restaurants and bars. Likewise, any guests staying at a Rixos property in Antalya can enjoy free and unlimited access to The Land Of Legends, including the new Nickelodeon Land, during their stay. I was staying in a SpongeBob suite where a giant pineapple housed all the drinks and snacks I could dream of. After a tiring day on the roller-coasters, I would sink into the plush bedding and unwind with the TV (which, of course, has access to all your favourite Nick shows). Even SpongeBob would be impressed with this place.
