UK's biggest holiday park is right on the beach with thousands of caravans, indoor pools and cheap stays

WITH over 2,000 caravans and lodges, the UK's largest holiday park even "gives Butlin's a run for its money". Trecco Bay in Porthcawl, Wales, is one of the largest holiday parks in Europe, and as a result, has a wealth of things to do. 6 6 Upon entering the Parkdean site, there a number of different accommodations to choose from, including lodges and caravans. The lodges can sleep up to eight people and some are pet friendly or have large sunbeds. You can even purchase a caravan from £22,995 if you want to keep on returning. In the centre of the park, you will find the entertainment plaza. When the sun is shining, head to Pirate Crazy Golf for some family fun or bounce on the trampolines. And with the park being so big, you could grab one of the pedal powered karts to get around. For little ones who love an adventure, there is a high ropes course with bridges and swinging ropes and a splash pad as well. Parts of the course even hover above a path where parents can spectate below. Other outdoor activities include archery, hoover boards and bumper zorbs. This holiday park has Maldives-like overwater bungalows If the rain has decided to appear though, there is also loads of things to do inside. The park also puts on shows, and there are Paw Patrol Mighty Missions for little ones. There is also the pool in case you fancy a splash about or you could use the Aqua Jets to dive to the bottom of the pool. For classic family fun, there is a bowling alley as well. And for older kids and gamers, head to the Next Level Gaming Arena where there are over 25 consoles including PS5 and Xbox, to test out. On the practical side, the holiday park also has all the facilities that you would need for a trip away, such as a launderette and supermarket. Rather oddly, the park also has its own roundabout and chapel. 6 6 The park boasts a wealth of eating and drinking options too, so no one in the family can complain there is no food they like. Options include Papa Johns, Burger King and a fish and chippy. For tipples, there are some choices to, including the themed Aloha surf bar complete with totem pole decor and tiki cocktails. And the entire park has a sprawling sandy Blue Flag beach on its doorstep. One visitor said: "We never ran out of things to do. Definitely recommend and I'm planning on going couple times a year." Another visitor said: "I would also say it definitely gives Butlin's a run for its money as we were there only a few weeks ago…" The park underwent a huge £3.5million makeover, where it added the Coast Bar and Kitchen and new caravans. And an arts and crafts den also keeps fidgety children busy. Prices for breaks vary, but can be found as low as £109. Affordable UK holiday park that mums say is like Center Parcs WHILE Center Parcs often proves too costly, Mill Rythe Holiday Park on Hayling Island offers a similar family-friendly experience at a more accessible price point. Many TikTok users have praised this Hampshire park for its value. One family's break, featuring a hot tub, marina views, two pools, soft play, and a splash pad, came in at under £500. Visitors consistently highlight the free swimming, soft play, playgrounds, and splash areas, along with the park's quality entertainment. Mill Rythe provides a range of activities, from mini-archery and crafts to bike rentals, and includes access to both indoor and outdoor pools, plus a splash park and soft play area. Entertainment options include stage shows, live acts, an outdoor cinema, and daily games. Dining choices include The Missing Squirrel and The Green Room restaurants, along with a Catch 22 fish and chip shop. The park offers 85 dog-friendly caravans and lodges. A Luxury Caravan, complete with decking and optional hot tub, can be booked for as little as £273 for a four-night stay in May, equating to £11.38 per person per night. For a more premium experience, the TriBeCa caravan boasts stylish decor and an in-bedroom bath, with seven-night stays starting from £542. There is also a lesser-known UK holiday park which has been named the best in the country. Plus, the five friendliest holiday parks in England – with one even likened to a five-star hotel. 6

Parents Share Biggest Lies They Tell Kids

Sometimes a parent's got to do what a parent's got to do. Whether their kiddo is throwing a seemingly endless temper tantrum or refusing to eat their veggies, parents have to occasionally get a little creative with their version of the "truth..." That's why when TikTok user (and former NFL quarterback) @mattleinartqb said, "I'm bored. Tell me the biggest lies you tell your kids. I'm not talking about Santa or the Easter Bunny. I want the ones that you're taking to the grave," thousands of parents took to the comment section to share the weirdly useful and wildly creative "mistruths" they tell their children. Without further ado, here are 23 of their best stories: "When my daughters were six and three, they both slept with my partner and me, so I had them start sleeping on the floor instead. A couple of days in, they got the flu, so I told them they were allergic to carpet and they started sleeping in their own beds!" "I forgot all about it until my oldest was 21 and called to let me know she was not allergic to the kind of carpet in her boyfriend's house.I finally told her the truth. I didn't mean for them to believe it that long — I just forgot. I then got a call from my other daughter telling me that she couldn't believe I lied to them like that!"—tori_jones_ "I used to tell my son that oil or chewing gum spots in the parking lot were kids who didn't hold their mommy's hand when they were walking in traffic." "Whenever I don't want to watch one of my daughters' shows, I tell her the characters are sleeping: 'Sorry, Paw Patrol are sleeping!'" "My son was a picky eater and would never eat homemade pizza. When he was about three, I made a pizza and told him it was Batman's special recipe. He ate that sh*t up. He still asks me for Batman pizza today and he's SEVENTEEN." —eunice38350 "I told my kids that the hazard button in the car was an ejection button for the passenger seat and that it would shoot them straight through the roof! They never touched anything around it and believed me until they were around 10." "For every bite of vegetables they ate during dinner, they could stay up five minutes later. They didn't know how to tell time, so it worked." "I told my niece that if you break a pinky promise, your pinky will fall off. When she eventually lied, she went wild trying to hold her pinky on because she thought she was going to lose it." —cass_a_bration "My parents told my sister the ice cream man was actually the music man. He plays music to make people happy, and he only has his music on when he's out of ice cream." "I told my daughter when new teeth grow in, they create new tastes. Now she tries to figure out which new foods she will like every time a new tooth comes in." "I told my kids that all mommies have eyes in the back of their heads. We were at a rest stop once, and I asked the woman ahead of us in line if it was true, and she said, 'Yes, it's true.' ALL of the moms around us agreed." "It was an unspoken support group and my daughter wholeheartedly believed it!"—npe2021 "My husband used to tell our kids that if they picked their noses, the boogers would bite their fingers and make them crooked. Then he would show them his old broken finger and say, 'See!'" "I made up a fictional character called Mr. Bugs, and when my son is behaving badly, I always tell him, 'I'm calling Mr. Bugs to deliver bugs to your bedroom, so when you wake up, you'll have them all over your room.' He shapes up real quick." "My son choked on bacon when he was six and refused to eat after that. When we were going on day four, I decided I had to do something to get him to eat, so I introduced him to anti-choking medication (watered-down syrup) in a medicine bottle with a legitimate-looking label that had his name on it." "He is 15 now and still reminisces about how that medicine saved him."—ffdh509 "We live in a semi-rural area, so there are wild rabbits all around the house. I told my son they're all Easter Bunny spies who report back daily, all year." "I'm not a parent, but when I was learning the difference between left and right, my parents told me if I put my shoe on the wrong foot, I'd grow an extra toe." "I told my daughter the only man she could trust was her daddy because he graduated from 'man school' and got a diploma (a homemade wallet-size 'man card'). Only certain men can get such a prestigious award, and he's legit because he has the card in his wallet to prove it." — "If we go somewhere that has a playground or a bounce house and we don't have time to play, I tell my kids that we didn't buy tickets like the other children, and they're definitely sold out by now." "I text 'Santa' with pictures of toys my kids like; that way, we don't have to fight about toys at every single store. Closer to Christmas, we text Santa again with the top two or three toys they wanted all year. It helps with Christmas shopping too!" "Our family went to Disney parks often when we were kids. My dad told us that he knew Mickey Mouse personally and if we went to sleep early, he would take our autograph books to him before he went to bed and get them signed, so we never had to wait in long lines." "It took 25 years for us to realize that my dad just used his left hand to sign 'Mickey's' name."—carlymathes12 "When you pee in a pool, you have to raise your hand to let others know what you are doing, so they know to stay away." "We have a family gnome. He lives in the kitchen or pantry. We even have a house just for him. If my kids don't clean up their things, he'll take them away and give them to kids who will take care of them." "He also magically fixes/replaces things when they get broken if you ask him really nicely and do good deeds. When you're extra good, he'll randomly leave trinkets, candy, etc."—sapphirecailleach "They think the car doesn't start unless their seatbelt is fastened. Facts." "My son has a scar on his arm, and I told him that is where I put a tracking device in him so I always know where he is." "He will be 15 this year, and I still tell him that — he still doesn't know if it's true or not.—lmt8310 Which one of these lies was your favorite? Everything new in Aldi's middle aisle on Sunday, July 27

Shoppers might want to keep their kids at home when Aldi launches it's middle aisle toy event this weekend The supermarket only recently introduced a batch of new products a few days ago, but now it's time for a refresh. Every Thursday and Sunday, staff replenish the infamous middle aisle with new and interesting goodies for people to pick up alongside their usual food shopping. ‌ Known by some as the 'random aisle', Aldi is actually far from it. Every time there is a refresh, Aldi follows a selection of themes with its products. This weekend, the Aldi website has chosen toys as the main theme, which will make the kids excited (and maybe a few parents wince). ‌ The new items aren't from Aldi's popular toy range but bring a range of popular characters and franchises together under one roof. Some standouts include Gabby's Dollhouse, Paw Patrol, Pokémon, and Bluey. ‌ Parents might want to take a look (without the little ones begging) and stash a few of their favourite things away for special occasions. Some might even hold out until Christmas. It can be somewhat overwhelming to browse what's in stock during your weekly shop, and you might end up missing something. So, look ahead of time at what to expect with this roundup of new items coming into stores. ‌ Back in the middle aisle, Bluey is a sensation with toddlers and adults alike. The Heelers are no strangers to the middle aisle, as Aldi previously ran toy events with the character and even let the Aussie dog have her own event not too long ago. One standout item that once had parents scrambling was the popular Plush Bluey Chair (£24.99). It's now coming back again, with designs for Bluey, her sister Bingo, and their wild cousin Muffin. Aldi claims it will "make a great addition to any child's playroom or bedroom"—especially if they're big Bluey fans. Sticking with Bluey, fans can also grab smaller Soft Toys (£6.49) in a wide range of characters, including Bluey, Bingo, Muffin's sister Socks, Bingo's best friend Lila, and two new plush characters - Baby Bluey and Chef Bingo. Sure to stand out in the middle aisle due to their giant size, Pokémon fans can snap up 14-inch (35.5cm) tall Squishmallows that look like fan favourites Dragonite and Fuecoco (both £12.99 each). Pikachu also appears on a Travel Flask and Lunchbox (both £3.99). ‌ Paw Patrol fans can get their hands on all their favourite pups with special vehicles (£9.99 each) equipped for "exciting dino rescues". Gabby's Dollhouse is also a featured programme, with fans able to choose from different mini room playsets (£7.99 each), complete with authentic accessories and figures. There will also be a range of fun Play-Doh sets (£5.99). Kids can choose from a variety of jobs, including hairdresser, dog groomer, dentist, and an incredible 'ice cream' dispenser. Ideal for long car rides or just keeping kids busy at home, Aldi will also stock a range of Character Activity Sticker Book (£1.99), Story Board Books (£2.99), and a collection of 89p colouring books featuring characters like Peter Rabbit, The Dinosaur That Pooped, and The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Aldi Specialbuys are limited-time offers on unique items that appear in stores. The theme is refreshed every Thursday and Sunday, meaning shoppers tend to have a limited amount of time to get particular products. You can find details about upcoming Specialbuys by checking the Aldi website, picking up a leaflet in-store, or signing up for email alerts.

Wrexham toddler's brave cancer fight ends, aged 16 months

Earlier this year, Callie Shaw was tragically diagnosed, aged just 10 months, with a rhabdoid tumour - a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer. Callie's cancer tragically spread to her lungs - and was terminal. Despite getting a prognosis in May of 4-6 weeks to live, she bravely fought on until July 18. Last month, a birthday party was held for her - with her first birthday having been spent at Alder Hey Children's Hospital. She was also visited by Peppa Pig and her other favourite characters. Callie Shaw (pictured left) was visited by characters from Peppa Pig and Paw Patrol. (Image: Sarah Shaw) Callie sadly passed away on the morning of July 18 - aged 16 months. A GoFundMe page was set up to support Callie's mum, Sarah, and help give Callie a "send off fit for a princess". It has raised nearly £7,500 so far, and can be accessed here Callie Shaw and mum, Sarah. (Image: Sarah Shaw) Announcing news of Callie's passing on Facebook, Sarah Shaw said: "With a heavy heart I would like to let everyone know my beautiful princess Callie Reign Shaw passed away peacefully this morning next to mummy. "The strongest little girl I have ever met and you'll never ever be forgotten, you really did put [up] a fight until the very end. I love you always and forever my beautiful angel." She has thanked everyone who cared for Callie, and donated to the GoFundMe page. On Friday, July 25 at 5pm at the Maesgwyn Community Centre, a balloon release will be held in memory of Callie. Anyone who knew Callie, or a shared a bond with her, is warmly welcomed to attend.

‘I managed to get tickets for the big show in Manchester this weekend'

This is the moment we've all dreamed of. If you were in Manchester this weekend you surely felt the anticipation. Bars and restaurants are packed, the Metrolink was rammed, everyone is wearing the merch, young and old all scrambling to get their hands on a ticket. And that's because a very special group have reunited to put on a legendary set of shows that will be talked about for generations. Finally, they've placed their differences aside and are putting on a united front to showcase what they do best and give the people who have adored them for years what they want. There's been no media in the build up. No public 'falling out' to generate hype. This is a show where the group's raw talent simply speaks for itself. I am, of course, talking about Paw Patrol Live: The Great Pirate Adventure, at Manchester's AO Arena. There is a local Burnage act also performing this weekend - but staff around Victoria Station manage to juggle their fans en route to Bury alongside a minor army of parents and kids queueing for the AO Arena brilliantly. It's all very well organised and the atmosphere is quite celebratory and joyous from both parties. The show brings together the key cast of the beloved programme, led by Ryder, to go on a heroic mission to find hidden pirate treasure. And within moments of them marching onto the stage, there is cheering, screaming, furious mopping by staff over spilt drinks from an accident that happened the second the lights went down, and smatterings of tears too from slightly overwhelmed kids. It's a lot. As someone said to us before the show: "this is Oasis for kids". Once the mayhem all settles down though it's a really fun show: panto-on-speed, some very catchy songs and lots of very happy children in the crowd. The biggest cheers are reserved for when the pups come out on their vehicles - we love a vehicle - and the live production manages to have a flavour of the high-octane action scenes that characterise the Nickelodeon TV show which are obviously not easy to reproduce on stage. Many parents upon reaching the interval decide they're going to need a beer to get through this - even if it is almost £10 for a pint - but our three-year-old is utterly mesmerised throughout, so entranced that even his beloved Fruit Shoot doesn't interest him. At times some of the audience-participation segments don't really quite work for an arena the size of the AO, however the cast are really giving it 110%. It's a sugar-rush of an afternoon, lasting just over an hour-and-a-half plus a 20-minute break in the middle, and a great treat for kids over the summer. PAW Patrol Live! is on a roll – and coming to cities all across the UK this summer. Tickets are available now from
