Doddridge County Elementary Students sell sweet treats to learn about money
WEST UNION, W.Va. (WBOY) — Third grade students at Doddridge County Elementary School got to put their lessons about money to good use by running a Hot Chocolate and Cookie stand.
The idea came from their teacher, Staclyn White, who wanted the kids to practice using real money, not just play coins. The students had different jobs, like taking orders, mixing hot chocolate and adding toppings. They were excited to learn while having fun!

'We wanted to do something where the kids could work with real money,' White said. 'It's also a good way to raise money for the third grade class.'
Third grader Jaelynn Metcger shared, 'My job is to take order forms,' while Audra Leopardi added, 'It teaches us how to count money and do a lot of stuff.'
The money earned from the stand will go back into the third grade class for things like classroom parties, fun learning activities, and supplies.

AeroVironment, Inc. (AVAV) Overcame Worries About ‘Drone Shortage,' Says Jim Cramer
AeroVironment, Inc. (NASDAQ:AVAV) is one of the . AeroVironment, Inc. (NASDAQ:AVAV) is an American defense contractor that provides a variety of products such as drones, communications technologies, and software products. The firm's shares have gained 63% year-to-date primarily on the back of a 32% gain in June. AeroVironment, Inc. (NASDAQ:AVAV)'s stock soared after the firm's fiscal fourth-quarter earnings saw it post $1.61 in EPS and $275 million in revenue. Both these metrics beat analyst estimates of $1.39 and $242 million. In his previous remarks about the company, Cramer defended the pre-earnings weak share price performance and attributed it to market noise. This time around, he delved into a little more detail regarding the weak sentiment: 'Okay, AeroVironmnent, I think a lot people were worried about how much, you know, do they have drones, are they out of drones, who's got the drones, the cost of drones.' A rocket on its way to the sky, representing the power of the company's unmanned aircraft systems. Cramer was quite optimistic about AeroVironment, Inc. (NASDAQ:AVAV) in January as well. Here is what he said: 'Oh boy, I really like it. It really is the solution, I think, in a lot of ways to a Pentagon budget that may be too bloated but needs to be more effective. I like AVAV and I gotta tell you, Wahid Nawabi, he's been on the show and every time he's been a star.' Trump says parliamentarian being a ‘little difficult'
President Trump said Friday the Senate parliamentarian has been problematic, as Republicans scramble to save his 'big, beautiful bill' that was stalled after a ruling that rejected some major cost-cutting provisions. Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough ruled Thursday against including in the megabill a GOP proposal to slash hundreds of billions of dollars in federal Medicaid spending to help pay for Trump's tax agenda. 'The parliamentarian's been a little difficult, and I would say I disagree with the parliamentarian on some things, in other ways he's been fine,' Trump said at a press conference, referring to MacDonough. The White House has not gone as far as calling for MacDonough to be removed by Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.C.), which Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R) pushed for after her Medicaid ruling. When asked about MacDonough on Thursday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump 'knows this is part of the process and the inner workings of the Senate and he wants to see this bill done.' Trump has been pushing Republicans to pass the bill by July 4, but on Friday he suggested the deadline could have some wiggle room. 'It's important. It's not the end all. But we'd like to get it done in that time, if possible,' he said. Trump was also asked Friday what he has been doing to personally push his top legislative priority forward in the Senate as the upper chamber's leadership works to resurrect the bill. 'It's a great bill; it's a massive tax cut,' Trump said. 'It will be interesting to see if we get any Democrat votes, we should … maybe Fetterman because he seems to be the most sensible one recently,' he added, suggesting that Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) could vote for the bill. The parliamentarian has been ruling on which provisions pass muster under the Byrd Rule, a multipart test for budget reconciliation packages that looks at several things, including whether a provision is primarily budgetary in nature. If something does not pass the Byrd requirement, it cannot be part of a bill passed under budget reconciliation rules. This is important because the rules allow legislation to circumvent a filibuster. Thune has said his leadership team has 'contingency plans' to keep the bill moving forward but losing the proposal means leaders will need to come up with hundreds of billions in new savings to pay for the cost of making several corporate tax cuts permanent. Texas Supreme Court Reverses $90 Million Judgment Against Werner Enterprises
OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Werner Enterprises, Inc. ('Werner') (Nasdaq: WERN), a premier transportation and logistics provider, today announced the Texas Supreme Court has ruled in Werner's favor in reversing and dismissing the landmark $90 million truck accident verdict from 2018. The case centered on a tragic 2014 accident in Texas, where a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction on a divided interstate highway lost control, crossed a median and struck a Werner tractor-trailer. Plaintiffs alleged Werner and its driver were at fault, despite the fact that Werner's driver was traveling well below the posted speed limit, remained in his lane of traffic for the entirety of the incident and was braking before impact, but without sufficient time to avoid collision. The company has asserted from the beginning that the accident was non-preventable and that its driver acted appropriately. Werner appealed the original 2018 verdict and, after more than seven years of appeals, the Texas Supreme Court has now reversed the decision and fully dismissed the lawsuit. The Texas Supreme Court ruled that Werner and its driver were " a mere happenstance of place and time," and that " the sole proximate cause of this accident and these injuries (the sole substantial factor to which the law permits assignment of liability) was the sudden, unexpected hurtling of the victims' vehicle into oncoming highway traffic, for which Werner and its driver bore no responsibility." 'This is a long-awaited win for Werner,' said Werner's President and Chief Legal Officer, Nathan Meisgeier. 'After seven years navigating the appellate process, we are thankful the Texas Supreme Court reached the same conclusion as law enforcement – that the Werner drivers and our company did nothing wrong. A different outcome would have had far-reaching implications beyond the transportation industry.' Meisgeier emphasized, 'We have not and will not lose sight of the tragic loss the Blake family suffered because of this accident. Our continued thoughts and prayers are with the Blake family.'
