Dodgers Make Teoscar Hernandez Decision Before White Sox Game
Outfielder Teoscar Hernandez is in his tenth major-league season and his second with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Originally signed by the Houston Astros as an international free agent in February 2011, he made his MLB debut in 2016. In July 2017, Houston traded him to the Toronto Blue Jays, where Hernandez established himself as an offensive threat and earned his first All-Star selection in 2021.
Prior to the 2023 season after six seasons in Toronto, the Blue Jays sent him to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for reliever Erik Swanson and another pitching prospect.
After an up-and-down year in Seattle, Hernandez agreed to a one-year, $23.5 million deal with the Dodgers in 2024. He responded by winning the Home Run Derby, earning a second All-Star appearance and playing a key role in Los Angeles's postseason run that culminated in a World Series title. Last offseason, he secured his long-term future in L.A. with a three-year, $66 million contract.

In 2025, Hernandez has struggled since coming off of the injured list in late May, yet to find his stride after a hot start to begin the year.

Ahead of Wednesday's game against the Chicago White Sox, the Dodgers decided to give him the day off, with the club hopeful a day off will spark a turnaround.
Through 78 games this year, he is batting .263 with 14 home runs, 54 RBIs and a .779 OPS—numbers that underscore a still-productive season. At 32, Hernandez remains an important contributor in a lineup built for October baseball.
Los Angeles sits at 54–32, leading the NL West by 7.5 games over the San Diego Padres as they chase back-to-back World Series championships.

What Xabi Alonso instructs his Real Madrid players during cooling break at Club World Cup
Like the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, the current Club World Cup in the United States has introduced cooling breaks during matches. Players get one break per half where they can head to the touchline, cool down, and drink water. These short pauses are not only great for the players' health but also offer a golden chance for coaches to talk strategy. Advertisement Just like a basketball timeout, managers use this moment to make quick tactical changes that can swing the match in their favour. Alonso's tactical changes Xabi Alonso has become one of the best at using these breaks. During these brief moments, he calls every player to the sideline and gives clear, simple instructions about what he wants from them. He tells each player exactly what to do at every point in the game, helping them stay organised and focused. Thanks to these mini team talks, Real Madrid often look like a different team after the cooling break. They come back sharper, more united, and better prepared for the rest of the game. Real Madrid are unbeaten at the Club World Cup under his guidance. They started the tournament with a disappointing 1-1 draw against Al-Hilal, but then bounced back strongly. They went on to beat Pachuca, RB Leipzig, and most recently, Juventus. In each of these matches, Alonso's precise instructions during the cooling breaks have helped Madrid regain control and find their rhythm. Won't last long However, this advantage won't last forever. Once the temperatures drop and the weather cools down, the rules will no longer allow these mid-half breaks. Advertisement That means Alonso will lose this chance to reset his team during games. But for now, he's using every opportunity to show his quality as a coach and get the best out of his players. Next up, Real Madrid face Borussia Dortmund in a huge quarter-final clash. Fans will be eager to see if Alonso's tactical talks during cooling breaks can keep their unbeaten run alive and help them move one step closer to lifting the trophy.

Long-serving German coach Magath: Club World Cup just a 'money grab'
German soccer coach and patron Felix Magath speaks during a press conference on the inclusive "Doppelpass" coach training program in soccer. Sebastian Gollnow/dpa Long-serving German coach Felix Magath sees no sporting value in the Club World Cup in the United States and believes the revamped tournament is just a "money grab." He thinks the only reason why a club should be crowned world champion is because "clubs from different continents play against each other. Advertisement "But the differences in performance are just too great for someone like me, who has been in football all his life, to enjoy watching it," Magath told broadcasters Sky. As a coach, he sees a "catastrophe" coming for the teams due to the lack of recovery for the players. "Bayern Munich can be happy that the competition in the league is not so fierce at the moment," he said, adding that otherwise Bayern would struggle to win the Bundesliga title in the upcoming season. "When should the players recover? The players, I think, will have difficulties to reach the necessary level of fitness in the upcoming season," Magath said. The winner is expected to be awarded up to $125 million.
