
Kuwait School Sports Federation gears up for ‘Kuwait Sports Day celebrations
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 19: Faisal Al-Maqseed, Chairman of the Kuwait School Sports Federation and Higher Education, confirmed the full readiness of all Federation committees to participate in the upcoming Kuwait Sports Day celebrations on February 22. The event will feature the Promising Festival, bringing together approximately 150 talented athletes from the Federation's gifted academies, along with 50 coaches, supervisors, and administrators.
The Promising Festival set to take place at the subsidiary stadium of Jaber International Stadium, will consist of eight activity stations, with the participation of parents. Al-Maqseed emphasized that the festival's organizing committee has completed all necessary rehearsals, ensuring a smooth and successful event in line with the directives of Kuwait's political leadership.
Highlighting the significance of the occasion, Al-Maqseed stated that Kuwait Sports Day aims to engage people of all ages and social groups in a collective sporting activity, reinforcing efforts by various state sectors to promote sports culture and encourage an active lifestyle.
He also extended his deep appreciation to the Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, for his continuous support of the School Sports Federation. Since the launch of the Federation's 'Our Talents in Our Schools' strategy in 2021, the Minister has provided extensive backing, ensuring the initiative's success. Al-Maqseed reaffirmed that the School Sports Federation remains committed to implementing the Minister's vision, as school sports serve as the foundation for Kuwait's sporting future, with the ultimate goal of restoring Kuwaiti sports to their former glory.

Kuwait adds four medal in Asian shooting contest

Al-Otaibi said in a statement that the medals came after the brilliance of shooters in the (trap) competitions , where shooters Abdulrahman Al-Faihan, Talal Al-Rashidi and Nasser Al-Muqlid won the gold medal in the men's team competition. Al-Otaibi pointed out that the Kuwait shooters Shahd Al-Hawal, Sarah Al-Hawal and Reem Al-Zamanan won the silver medal in the women's team competition, while Abdulrahman Al-Faihan won the bronze medal for the singles competition, as Nasser Al-Muqlid and Sarah Al-Hawal won the bronze medal in the mixed doubles competition. Al-Otaibi dedicated this outstanding achievement in his name and on behalf of the members of the Board of Directors and shooters to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al- Hamad Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister, and the honorable Kuwaiti people. President of the Kuwait Shooting Sports Club and head of the delegation, Duaij Al-Otaibi, told KUNA that Abdulrahman Al-Faihan, Talal Al-Rashidi, and Nasser Al-Muqallid secured gold in the men's team competition. In the women's team event, shooters Shahd Al-Hawwal, Sara Al-Hawwal, and Reem Al-Zamanan captured silver, while Abdulrahman Al-Faihan claimed bronze in the individual competition. A bronze medal was also earned in the mixed doubles, with Nasser Al-Muqallid and Sara Al-Hawwal teaming up for the podium finish. This success follows their earlier achievement last Thursday, where Kuwait earned three medals—two gold and one bronze. Kuwait U-16 basketball team gears up for Championship with an intensive training camp
KUWAIT CITY, June 11: The Kuwaiti Under-16 basketball team launched its internal training camp as part of its preparations for the upcoming Gulf Championship, set to take place in the Kingdom of Bahrain from July 7 to 12. The tournament will feature six teams: Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain (the host), and Kuwait. Mishal Mohammed, Member of the Board of Directors at the Kuwait Basketball Association and Director of National Teams, emphasized the significance of the tournament, noting that it serves as a qualifier for the Asian Championship, scheduled to begin in late August in Mongolia. 'This tournament is crucial as it brings together strong competition and paves the way to Asia,' he stated. The training camp includes 14 players and features two daily sessions—morning and evening. From this group, 12 players will be selected to represent Kuwait in the tournament. Kuwait will compete in Group A alongside Qatar and the UAE, while Group B comprises Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. Mohammed explained that this camp marks the second phase of the team's preparation. The first stage took place in Istanbul, Turkey, last January, where the squad played six friendly matches against Turkish clubs. He praised the players for their strong commitment during that phase. The third and final stage of preparation will begin on June 21 with an external training camp in Cairo, Egypt. There, the team will play six friendly matches against top-level Egyptian teams before traveling to Bahrain for the start of the tournament. Expressing his confidence in the squad, Mohammed described the players as ambitious and hardworking. He voiced hope that the Kuwaiti team would deliver a strong performance in the Gulf Championship and secure a top-two finish, earning qualification for the Asian Championship.
