35 medical emergencies handled by MoH at the Jaber Bridge Marathon

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 22:The Medical Emergency Department at the Ministry of Health announced that it responded to 35 cases (23 males and 12 females) during the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Bridge Marathon on Saturday, which saw the participation of around 21,000 runners as part of the Kuwait Sports Day festivities. Dr. Ahmad Al-Shatti, Director of the Department, told KUNA that the Ministry was fully prepared to support the event, which featured a variety of sports activities across five different locations. A well-thought-out plan was implemented, which included the deployment of 30 ambulances and 160 emergency medical technicians. Dr. Al-Shatti further explained that for the Jaber Bridge Marathon specifically, 16 ambulances were stationed along the route, with one ambulance every 500 meters. Additionally, two fixed clinics and two golf carts were on hand to assist, with 76 emergency medical technicians participating in the efforts. He emphasized the importance of Sports Day in promoting health and considered it a positive step forward, as sports play a crucial role in strengthening immunity, preventing chronic diseases, improving heart and artery health, and enhancing mental well-being.

Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, officially signaled the start of the race. Mahmoud Abel, president of the Kuwait Sports for All Federation, also attended the event and was a member of the Supreme Organizing Committee for Kuwait Sports Day. Former Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem participated in the cycling race for the second consecutive year, alongside former Minister Dawood Marafi. The event features a 20-kilometer cycling race, followed by a 5-kilometer walk, allowing participants to engage in a day of fitness and celebration. This year's race saw an impressive turnout, with approximately 20,000 male and female participants, including athletes with special needs, emphasizing inclusivity and community engagement in Kuwait's sports initiatives.

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 21: The Ministry of Interior has announced that, in coordination with the Public Authority for Sports, the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Bridge will be temporarily closed due to Kuwait Sports Day events. The closure will take effect as follows: - The bridge towards Subiya will be closed from Friday 21st Feb at 11:00 PM. - The bridge towards Shuwaikh will be closed from Saturday 22nd at 4:00 AM until the event concludes. The General Department of Public Relations and Security Media has urged road users to follow the instructions of the General Traffic Department and use alternative routes during this period.

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 19: Faisal Al-Maqseed, Chairman of the Kuwait School Sports Federation and Higher Education, confirmed the full readiness of all Federation committees to participate in the upcoming Kuwait Sports Day celebrations on February 22. The event will feature the Promising Festival, bringing together approximately 150 talented athletes from the Federation's gifted academies, along with 50 coaches, supervisors, and administrators. The Promising Festival set to take place at the subsidiary stadium of Jaber International Stadium, will consist of eight activity stations, with the participation of parents. Al-Maqseed emphasized that the festival's organizing committee has completed all necessary rehearsals, ensuring a smooth and successful event in line with the directives of Kuwait's political leadership. Highlighting the significance of the occasion, Al-Maqseed stated that Kuwait Sports Day aims to engage people of all ages and social groups in a collective sporting activity, reinforcing efforts by various state sectors to promote sports culture and encourage an active lifestyle. He also extended his deep appreciation to the Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, for his continuous support of the School Sports Federation. Since the launch of the Federation's 'Our Talents in Our Schools' strategy in 2021, the Minister has provided extensive backing, ensuring the initiative's success. Al-Maqseed reaffirmed that the School Sports Federation remains committed to implementing the Minister's vision, as school sports serve as the foundation for Kuwait's sporting future, with the ultimate goal of restoring Kuwaiti sports to their former glory.

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 11: The Public Authority for Sports announced that the Supreme Organizing Committee for Kuwait Sports Day has set February 22 as the official date for the event. The day will feature a diverse program of sports activities catering to all age groups and segments of society. In a press statement following a meeting chaired by Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, the Sports Authority highlighted that one of the main events will be a large-scale sports marathon on Jaber Bridge, which is expected to attract widespread participation. The statement also noted that the event will include the opening ceremony of the Gulf Football Legends Championship, featuring eight teams, as well as the Youth Football League, aimed at supporting youth sports. Additionally, the Kuwait Olympic Committee will organize various activities across multiple locations. The committee discussed the Jaber Bridge Marathon, approving its implementation plan to ensure a well-organized and successful event. Registration for the marathon opens today via the "Hayakom" platform. Regarding the Gulf Football Legends Championship, the Authority stated that the Kuwait Football Association, the event organizer, provided an overview of the tournament scheduled from February 20 to 24. The championship will bring together former Gulf football stars, reflecting the spirit of unity and sportsmanship among Gulf nations.
