1 dies, 3 injured in Saran clash
Chhapra: A 52-year-old man died and three others sustained serious injuries during a clash between two communities at Karah-Dargahi Tola village under Baniapur block in Saran district on Friday evening.
The deceased was identified as Ramashankar Prasad (52) of Dargahi Tola. The police have detained three persons from both communities for interrogation, and deployed forces at the village to maintain peace.
Saran DM Aman Samir, along with SSP Kumar Ashish and other officials, visited the spot late Friday night, and took stock of the situation.
Saran SSP Kumar Ashish said the incident of clash between the two communities was being examined from different angles. "The situation at the village is peaceful and under control. The clash broke out after one community objected to the playing of an orchestra. Four injured men were admitted to the primary health center, Baniapur. However, one of them was sent to Chhapra sadar hospital for treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries," the SSP said.

Air India To Insure Passengers On All Flights For Next Few Months After Ahmedabad Tragedy

Following the devastating Air India accident that killed more than 260 people, Air India has decided to insure every passenger on all its flights as a precautionary measure, according to a source in the airline. As per the source, each passenger will be covered for approximately Rs 30 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. This move will remain in effect for at least the next few months. Three days after the tragic crash of Air India flight AI-171 in Ahmedabad, which has so far claimed over 270 lives, hospital authorities on Sunday confirmed the identification of 47 victims through DNA matching, including that of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. Rupani was among the 242 passengers and crew members on board the London-bound Air India flight AI-171 that crashed on Thursday. Only one passengers managed to miraculously survive the crash on that day, while more than 30 people were killed on the ground. Due to the severe condition of many bodies, as they are burnt or disfigured, authorities are relying on DNA matching for identification. '"A total of 47 plane crash victims have been identified so far through DNA matching. Of these, the bodies of 24 victims have been handed over to their respective families. These deceased were from Rajasthan and different parts of Gujarat," Additional Civil Superintendent Dr. Rajnish Patel told reporters. Meanwhile, Air India on Sunday said it is working closely with other Tata group companies to provide every possible assistance to the families and loved ones of the plane crash victims. The airline in a statement also said that over 400 family members have reached Ahmedabad and are being assisted by its teams on the ground. It had earlier promised complete transparency in the investigation into establishing the cause of the accident. PK Mishra, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, visited the crash site to assess the situation on Sunday. He was briefed on the sequence of events and interacted with the injured at the Civil Hospital. 'I am very pained by the enormity of the tragedy. Everybody is sad. It is our duty to share grief and express our feelings for the victims," Mishra told reporters. Authorities announced Sunday that the second black box, the cockpit voice recorder, had been recovered. This may offer investigators more clues about what went wrong. There were 169 Indian passengers, 53 British, seven Portuguese and a Canadian on board the flight, as well as 12 crew members.

Three days after an Air India flight bound for London crashed in Ahmedabad, authorities have identified 47 victims through DNA testing. Of these, 24 bodies have been handed over to their families, according to an official statement issued on Sunday. 'We have established contact with the next of kin/relatives of all passengers and crew members, expressing our condolences and helping them with the next steps. Over 400 family members have reached Ahmedabad and are being assisted by our teams on the ground,' Air India said in a statement on social media site X. 'Every affected family in Ahmedabad has been assigned at least one caregiver by Air India. Air India is working closely with other Tata Group companies to provide every possible assistance to the families and loved ones of those deceased, which remains our number one priority,' the airline added. Authorities are conducting DNA tests to confirm the identities of the deceased, as several bodies were either burned or damaged. Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi on Sunday stated that former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was among the individuals who died in the Air India Flight AI171 crash in Ahmedabad. His identity was verified through DNA matching. All but one of the 242 passengers and crew on board the Boeing 787-8 (AI171), along with 29 people on the ground, including five MBBS students, died in the crash on Thursday. The aircraft crashed into a medical college campus in Meghaninagar shortly after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 1:39 p.m. The crash site was sealed on Saturday following the conclusion of rescue operations. Investigations are ongoing, with teams from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, Boeing and other civil aviation authorities inspecting the area. One of the plane's black boxes has been recovered. As of 14 June, Air India reported that it had completed safety checks on nine of its Boeing 787 aircraft and aimed to finish inspections on the remaining 24 within the timeline set by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. Air India also announced an interim payment of ₹25 lakh, approximately £21,000, to each family of the deceased and the lone survivor. This is in addition to the ₹1 crore (approximately £85,000) support announced earlier by Tata Sons.
