City can move into the top four with a win ahead of Chelsea's clash with Arsenal on Sunday but Brighton, who are just a point behind, can also leapfrog both with a victory.

Alexander Isak ignored $101M Liverpool transfer lesson as star breaks silence

Anthony Gordon was called upon to fill the void in Newcastle's first match of the new season - a space left by the unsettled striker Alexander Isak, and he did so with complete dedication to the club. Meanwhile, Isak continues to train solo and is no closer to rejoining Newcastle's squad as he seeks to engineer a move to Liverpool. A year ago, Liverpool was pursuing Gordon - and the winger, understandably intrigued by the prospect of joining his boyhood club, became sidetracked by the saga. However, the England international never caused any trouble - he continued to train and was prepared to play for the club that pays his wages - a stark contrast to Isak. READ MORE: Alexander Isak finally breaks silence on Newcastle fallout as Liverpool transfer hangs in the balance READ MORE: Alexander Isak could use little-known FIFA rule to force Newcastle transfer exit The Swedish striker took to social media on Tuesday to publicly express his wish to leave, while also accusing the club of "broken promises." Much like with Isak, it's not the desire to move to Liverpool that irks Newcastle's fans, but rather the manner in which an exit - or the desire for one - is handled, particularly if a player goes on strike. Gordon remained loyal to Newcastle throughout last summer and is now leading the line in a position where he may not be at his best, but is giving everything for the Magpies. Speaking on The Everything is Black and White Podcast, host Andrew Musgrove believes Isak could have learned from Gordon's handling of a summer filled with speculation, which reportedly culminated in a £75 million ($101.2 million) bid being considered. "The point on Anthony Gordon is that he's the prime example that Alexander Isak should have followed when it comes to a speculative summer - you know, will he or won't he be a Newcastle United player?" said Musgrove. "That was what we had to deal with last summer. Of course, Gordon would have been interested in a move to Liverpool. "Not only can you win things, he's from the area, and reportedly a boyhood fan. "Yes, he was distracted and yes, he took a little while to get back to his best, but he never downed tools. "Who is to say the interest was as far along as it is with Alexander Isak, but the point being is he could have forced something, but he didn't, and look at him now. "He's the shining example of how to be the ultimate professional. "The bottom line is that while he's got that shirt on his heart, he's giving his all, and that's more than can be said for Alexander Isak." MASSIVE Marc Guehi update after crunch Liverpool talks

Liverpool have held talks with Crystal Palace about Marc Guehi. Now Oliver Glasner has dropped an update on his captain. Liverpool want to sign Marc Guehi this summer - but not for any price. In fact, the Reds feel they should get something of a bargain for the centre-back. That's because Guehi is now in the final year of his contract with Crystal Palace. The Eagles' captain isn't going to sign a new one, either, meaning they're now faced with a choice. Shop the LFC Store LFC x adidas Shop the away range TODAY LFC x adidas Shop the home range today! Palace could hold onto Guehi for the rest of the season, get what he brings for another year, and then lose him for free. Or they could get something for him now, cashing in on a fantastic player. Liverpool are the club who will sign Guehi if he leaves Palace this summer. They're on the brink of finding some sort of deal for the player, but there's a difference in valuation. And that's understandable. Guehi is a very important player for Palace and they'll almost certainly be worse when he's gone - there isn't much time to find a replacement, after all. Liverpool would like to have Guehi but they don't necessarily need him for this campaign. Not when they've already got four top centre-backs in the squad. The BBC are one of those reporting that the two clubs held talks about Guehi to try and get a deal done. Now, we can't be sure what those talks have exactly led to but we do have a major update, courtesy of Oliver Glasner. 🔴 Oliver Glasner on Marc Guehi Glasner has essentially confirmed a deal isn't particularly close with Liverpool. He's done that by telling journalists on Wednesday that Guehi will play in Palace's Europa Conference League qualifier Fredrikstad on Thursday. The Palace boss has said the same thing about Eberechi Eze, who is expected to sign for Tottenham Hotspur before long. The Eagles aren't going to let their players leave quickly, then. Now, it's entirely possible that deals are all but agreed with both clubs here. Palace may just want to make sure they go through after crunch European ties.

Galatasaray negotiates the signing of Manuel Akanji

If the deal goes through, it would be a huge transfer coup in Turkey. Galatasaray negotiates the signing of Manuel Akanji According to L'Équipe, Galatasaray has opened talks to sign Manuel Akanji (30), the Manchester City centre-back. The Istanbul club's management has already submitted a contract offer to the Swiss international. His agent is expected to travel to Istanbul soon to continue negotiations. Should a personal agreement be reached, the Turkish side will then need to negotiate directly with the Cityzens to finalize the terms of the transfer. Under contract until 2027, Akanji has played 136 official matches for City, but was not included in the squad for the opening Premier League fixture this season.
