Can Fin Homes targets 20% disbursement growth in FY26 on rate relief

Can Fin Homes Ltd plans to grow disbursements by 20 per cent year-on-year (YoY) in the current financial year (FY26), up from five per cent in FY25, on the back of softening interest rates and improved business conditions in Karnataka and Telangana. It disbursed loans worth ₹8,568 crore in FY25, compared to ₹8,178 crore in FY24.
Suresh Iyer, Managing Director and Chief Executive, Can Fin Homes, told Business Standard, 'The housing sector is looking up. The lower policy rates mean lower equated monthly instalments (EMIs), and that is definitely a positive.' Internally, the company is targeting 20 per cent disbursement growth, which should result in 13–15 per cent growth in assets under management (AUM) in FY26. Its outstanding loan assets grew by 9 per cent YoY to ₹38,217 crore as of end-March 2025.
The housing finance company faced challenges in two of its major markets — Karnataka and Telangana — in FY25. Business in Karnataka was affected by delays in the registration of property sale transactions. The issue with e-Khata, a digitised version of certificates providing property owners with a secure online platform, has since been resolved. In Telangana, where the issue was more sentiment-driven and the base was already lower, Iyer said, 'While we may not go back to the old numbers, there will definitely be growth.'
Referring to the easing interest rate cycle, Iyer said liquidity is ample and the Reserve Bank of India has already cut the policy repo rate by 50 basis points. Another 50-basis-point cut is anticipated. Once the company sees a reduction in its cost of funds, it expects to pass on 35–50 basis points of benefit to customers, subject to market conditions.
On the liabilities side, the company sources 55 per cent of its funds from the banking sector and another seven per cent through commercial papers. 'So whenever rates come down, over 60 per cent of our liabilities get repriced, creating room for passing on benefits,' Iyer added.

There is no declining trend in Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) into India, though periodic fluctuations may occur sometimes due to global interest rate changes, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said. He added India is seeing renewed overseas inflows and the government is open to suggestions and will adopt new measures to promote FDI in the country. Over the last eleven financial years (2014-25), India attracted FDI worth $748.78 billion, an increase of 143 per cent over the previous eleven years (2003-14), which saw $308.38 billion in inflows. Additionally, the number of source countries for FDI increased from 89 in 2013-14 to 112 in 2024-25, underscoring India's growing global appeal as an investment destination. Given these figures, "I don't think that there is any declining trend, periodically there may be some changes, and that happens more due to changes in interest rate cycles in other countries, so if the bond yields in some countries become exorbitantly high, money tends to flow into those countries. we have once again seen money flowing back into India," Goyal told reporters here. In 2024-25, India received a total FDI of $81 billion, which is the highest in the last three years, he said. With $81 billion, India is back into the FDI growth trajectory, he said, adding, "We are a listening government. We are open to suggestions and we are always ready to adopt newer measures". The highest was $84.83 billion in 2021-22. The minister is here on an official visit to hold meetings with Swiss leaders and companies to boost trade and investments between the two countries. Foreign direct investment in India fell 24.5 per cent year-on-year to $9.34 billion in the January-March quarter of 2024-25 but grew 13 per cent to $50 billion during the entire previous financial year. Total FDI, which includes equity inflows, reinvested earnings and other capital, grew by 14 per cent to $81.04 billion during the last financial year. The same stood at $71.3 billion in 2023-24. During 2024-25, Singapore emerged as the largest source of FDI with $14.94 billion inflows. It was followed by Mauritius ($3.73 billion against $8.34 billion), the US ($5.45 billion), the Netherlands ($4.62 billion), the UAE ($3.12 billion), Japan ($2.47 billion), Cyprus ($1.2 billion), UK ($795 million), Germany ($469 million), and Cayman Islands ($371 million). Sectorally, inflows rose in services, trading, telecommunication, automobile, construction development, non-conventional energy and chemicals. Indian auto industry may face disruption amid China's stricter Rare Earth export controls: Report

New Delhi [India], June 10 (ANI): The Indian automobile industry is expected to face disruptions following China's decision to tighten export controls on rare earth elements (REEs), which are critical in manufacturing chips used in automobiles, according to a report by Emkay Research. The report mentioned that China, which accounts for over 70 per cent of global REE production and controls more than 90 per cent of refining capacity, imposed stricter export regulations on several REEs from April 2025, citing national security and non-proliferation concerns. The report said 'The licensing for exports has become significantly longer. These delays have led to supply uncertainty across sectors reliant on these critical inputs'. It pointed out that electric passenger vehicles (E-PVs) and internal combustion engine passenger vehicles (ICE-PVs) are the most vulnerable within the Indian auto industry. Electric vehicles (EVs), passenger vehicles (PVs), two-wheelers (2Ws), and commercial vehicles (CVs), in that order, are likely to face the maximum disruption. High-performance EV motors, teh report said, require heavy rare earth elements (HREEs) such as dysprosium and terbium to maintain efficiency at high operating temperatures. For electric two-wheelers (E-2Ws), magnets used in motors cost around Rs 150, while in PVs the cost varies from Rs 2,000 to Rs 24,000 depending on the features. However, the issue is not just about cost but the availability of these critical components and the limited options for alternative sourcing. While ICE 2Ws and 3Ws remain relatively unaffected in the short term, E-2Ws that use permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) are more vulnerable because of their limited design flexibility. As per report, while E-2Ws may undergo design changes in a short time (2-3 months), PVs and buses may require 6-12 months for complete motor redesigns due to stricter performance and space requirements. According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), ICE-PV production could face cuts starting July 2025, while existing E-2W inventories may last only another 1 to 1.5 months unless alternative sourcing arrangements are made. Although countries like Brazil and Australia hold substantial REE reserves, with Brazil alone having 20 per cent of global reserves, China continues to exert significant financial and operational control over many of these resources. Chinese companies also hold stakes in Brazilian mines. In addition, while Vietnam and Malaysia host some refining capacity, they largely lack access to primary raw materials and remain dependent on China. The tightening of export controls by China is likely to create ripple effects across the global supply chain, with India's auto sector bracing for a challenging period ahead. (ANI)
