Can Fin Homes targets 20% disbursement growth in FY26 on rate relief
Suresh Iyer, Managing Director and Chief Executive, Can Fin Homes, told Business Standard, 'The housing sector is looking up. The lower policy rates mean lower equated monthly instalments (EMIs), and that is definitely a positive.' Internally, the company is targeting 20 per cent disbursement growth, which should result in 13–15 per cent growth in assets under management (AUM) in FY26. Its outstanding loan assets grew by 9 per cent YoY to ₹38,217 crore as of end-March 2025.
The housing finance company faced challenges in two of its major markets — Karnataka and Telangana — in FY25. Business in Karnataka was affected by delays in the registration of property sale transactions. The issue with e-Khata, a digitised version of certificates providing property owners with a secure online platform, has since been resolved. In Telangana, where the issue was more sentiment-driven and the base was already lower, Iyer said, 'While we may not go back to the old numbers, there will definitely be growth.'
Referring to the easing interest rate cycle, Iyer said liquidity is ample and the Reserve Bank of India has already cut the policy repo rate by 50 basis points. Another 50-basis-point cut is anticipated. Once the company sees a reduction in its cost of funds, it expects to pass on 35–50 basis points of benefit to customers, subject to market conditions.
On the liabilities side, the company sources 55 per cent of its funds from the banking sector and another seven per cent through commercial papers. 'So whenever rates come down, over 60 per cent of our liabilities get repriced, creating room for passing on benefits,' Iyer added.

BS Samriddhi: Rajasthan's solar sector doesn't need incentives to grow
The sunrise solar sector in Rajasthan does not need incentives to survive and grow, on the contrary, incentives and subsidies breed bureaucratic bottlenecks and delay execution, said panelists at a panel discussion on 'Energy: The Surging Renewables Sector'. The discussion was held as part of Business Standard Samriddhi-Rajasthan 2025. Business Standard launched its 14th English and 7th Hindi edition from Jaipur on Wednesday. The panel discussion was attended by Sunil Bansal, president of Rajasthan Solar Association; its CEO Nitin Agarwal; and Rahul Gupta, founder managing director and chief executive officer (MD&CEO) of Rays Power Experts Ltd. 'The structure of the incentives and their disbursement also need to be transparent, quick, and smooth,' Bansal said. He said that today Rajasthan has become a preferred destination for solar projects, and is now known as the 'Solar capital of India'. 'But beyond the hype, we should also understand that the full potential of the sector is not being harnessed to the hilt,' he added. This is because though Rajasthan is leading in terms of production of solar energy at 32 Gw, yet when it comes to manufacturing of equipment that go into making a solar project, it lags far behind states like Gujarat. 'Rajasthan today has just two major solar equipment manufacturing companies while Surat has more than 50. When Rajasthan had just one, Surat too had one unit. So, in short, other states have come a long way when it comes to setting up a base for solar equipment manufacturing but we in Rajasthan are lagging in this,' Bansal said. Gupta said that the reason why manufacturing for the solar sector has not picked up in Rajasthan in the same way as it has done in Gujarat is that the state started open access way back in 2012-13 while in Rajasthan it was started in 2017 onwards. 'Overall, the industrial scenario in Gujarat was ahead of Rajasthan by five-seven years, and their producers were able to price the power themselves which is now starting in Rajasthan,' Gupta said. He said though solar equipment manufacturing in Rajasthan has been lower than states such as Gujarat, yet it is picking up in sectors such as battery storage. With power prices going down in the state, a lot of investment will come in manufacturing as well, he added. Agarwal said India has a total solar target of 500 Gw by 2030, of which Rajasthan's share is 125 Gw (that is around 25 per cent). The state at present has installed solar capacity of 38 Gw, which means that by 2030, this installed capacity needs to be tripled. All the 125 Gw solar projects to come on stream would mean a cumulative investment of almost ₹5 trillion in the state, he added. Agarwal said of the ₹30 trillion of investments signed in recent 'Investors Meet' in the state, almost ₹28 trillion has come in the renewables sector alone. 'Rajasthan alone has the potential to generate 300 Gw of solar energy. This potential is huge and it needs to be tapped fully,' Agarwal said. He said battery storage is challenging for the solar sector but here too Rajasthan is leading the way, with the central government allocating 10,000 Mw of battery storage capacity, which is the highest in the country. Of the 10,000 Mw, tenders have been floated for 2,000 Mw. Bansal said that tariff is a big issue in the solar sector. The government needs to understand tariff fixation has to be transparent and industry-friendly. It should not think of recovering its incidental costs through tariffs. Gupta said that from the producers' side, tariffs are not a problem, and due to certainty in policy, disputes between distribution companies (discoms) and power producers have come down. Agarwal said that one big factor that stops the growth of the household solar sector is that 'we give lots of free power to consumers' but don't want to incentivise the sector. 'We conducted a study and found that Rajasthan has 11 million power connections, of which almost 8 million pay zero bill. This needs to stop. We can use the money saved through this for incentivising solar power, which is clean and green as well,' he said.

Mission ₹30 trillion: Push for startups, thrust on AI, EVs need of the hour
Rajasthan's main attraction for investors is not the incentives that it gives, nor the infrastructure it has built but the peace, harmony and relationship it provides to them, said Subodh Agarwal, chairman and managing director of Rajasthan Financial Corporation. He added that each one of Rajasthan's Investment Promotion Scheme is an improvement over the other starting from Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme (RIPS) 2014 but what is more important is that people come to Rajasthan for investment for the value system it provides. The panel discussion was held as part of Business Standard Samriddhi-Rajasthan 2025. Business Standard launched its 14th English and 7th Hindi edition from Jaipur on Thursday. Business Standard's Ashok Kumar Bhattacharya moderated the panel discussion. Ajay Data, managing director of Data Group of Industries, and Digvijay Dhabriya, chairman of PHDCCI (Rajasthan chapter), were other panelists in the discussion. 'Rajasthan is growing with every step and one of its main strengths is its natural resources,' Agarwal said. Data said the state needs to move more aggressively in promoting startups and foster innovation. 'For Rajasthan to become a ₹30 trillion economy over the next three years from almost ₹15 trillion, it has to move towards setting up more startups,' Data said. He said presently, the state has around 5,000 startups, which is just 5 per cent of the total startups in the country. This needs to scale up to at least 100,000 over the next three years. 'One startup employs a minimum of 15 people, which means that once 100,000 start-ups come into operation, it will create around 1.5 million new jobs for the youths of the state,' Data said. He said there are few more areas where the Rajasthan government should immediately focus on a part of the startup ecosystem. These are attracting top technological talent in artificial intelligence (AI) and in electric vehicles (EVs). 'We need to aggressively look into these sectors to become big and leading players in all over the country,' Data said. He said the state also needs to remove the friction that occurs at all levels or else it creates hurdles in growth. Digvijay Dhabriya, chairman of PHDCCI (Rajasthan chapter) said that Rajasthan needs to focus more on ease of doing business and reducing the cost of doing business. He said for ease of doing business, the state needs to reduce the cost of land acquisition. On whether the new system of land acquisition launched by the state government of fixed price payment and offering land from a pool is a more viable method than the previous system of auctioning of land, Dhabriya said both the systems have their pluses and minuses. 'To me, the best method is the China model where the industry gets the opportunity to purchase land and then change its usage as per its needs,' Dhabriya said. He said whether the present system of land acquisition developed by the state is fruitful or not will be known once industries, which have entered into pacts with the state government, get their land. Dhabriya also said the state needs to develop more satellite townships on the lines of Gurugram. 'Rajasthan has lots of opportunities but several challenges as well which need to be ironed out,' Dhabriya said.

JeM uses E-wallets to bypass FATF, mini camps to evade Indian military strikes

This includes setting up 313 new camps to make it more difficult for Indian agencies to track terror operations. The money is being raised using digital wallets that are linked to the family members of JeM leader Masood Azar and agencies have identified at least five such wallets with direct links to the proscribed organisation. This approach is being used to avoid scrutiny from international terror watchers like the FATF that has access only to bank records and would not be able to act on contributions made to an elaborate network of family members. Sources said digital wallets like 'EasyPaisa' and 'SadaPay' are being used to collect the funds and these function outside banking networks by allowing wallet-to-wallet and wallet-to-cash transfers. This would make FATF monitoring difficult. Sources added that Azhar's family uses 7 to 8 mobile wallets at any given time and replaces them every four months. After large amounts of money accumulate in the wallets, they are spilt into smaller amounts or are withdrawn as cash. At least 30 new wallets are activated every month. A collection drive for the PKR 3.9 billion plan is currently on, under the garb of creating the Markaz network. Sources however pointed out that by even generous estimates, the total cost of setting up the network would not surpass PKR 1.23 billion. The remaining money is likely to be used for weapon purchases and equipping terrorists aimed at India, with the estimate that this would sustain operations for the next decade.
