Infosys collaborates with Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools
Infosys has announced a collaboration with Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) to drive an ambitious digital transformation initiative. This engagement showcases Infosys' strong capabilities in implementing managed services in the education sector.
As part of the initiative, Infosys will deploy a suite of enterprise platforms, including SAP S/4HANA Cloud, SAP SuccessFactors, and other advanced solutions like identity and access management and master data management. These integrations aim to move MACS' core ERP systems to the cloud and streamline its operations across its network of about 300 schools, enhancing efficiency, user experience, and scalability for future innovations.
The program offers a unified digital workspace with personalized, role-based access, enabling enhanced collaboration through team-based communities and streamlined communication. It improves master data management for accurate, real-time access and provides scalable infrastructure to support future generative AI applications aligned with MACS' strategic vision.
This collaboration sets a new standard for large-scale, AI-driven ERP modernization in education. By managing end-to-end digital services, Infosys enables MACS to prioritize educational outcomes while ensuring operational excellence and future-ready platform capabilities.

Emergency vehicles no longer stuck at signals: EVPS trial succeeds on NH 66
T'puram: Emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire engines will no longer have to wait at traffic signals on the busy Thiruvananthapuram–Kazhakkoottam NH 66. Thanks to the successful trial of the Emergency Vehicle Priority System (EVPS), developed jointly by NATPAC and Keltron, crucial response times during life-saving missions are now set to improve significantly. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The system was tested at the Infosys junction and allows real-time communication between emergency vehicles and traffic signals using wave-based technology. This ensures priority passage for emergency responders while also minimising disruptions to regular traffic flow. According to trial data, EVPS resulted in considerable travel time reductions. For instance, the travel time from Kazhakkoottam to Venpalavattom (2km) dropped from 54 seconds to 40 seconds, a 14-second improvement. In some cases, up to 24 seconds were saved on recorded 40 seconds. On average, each signal saved over 10 seconds. Authorities highlight that the system will enable emergency vehicles to reach their destinations faster and safer, potentially saving more lives. The trials compared travel durations with and without EVPS, clearly demonstrating the system's effectiveness under all conditions. Efforts are now underway to enhance the system further. Upgraded sensors capable of detecting vehicles from greater distances are being developed to improve accuracy and response time. Officials noted that this upgrade could be a game-changer in critical rescue operations by significantly reducing delays.

Skill devpt programme for blind launched
Mysuru: Infosys and EquiBeing Foundation launched Swabhimaan, a transformative skill development and livelihood programme for persons with visual impairment in Mysuru district. The launch event, which was held at the Wadiyar Centre for Architecture here brought together key stakeholders, and community members committed to disability inclusion. The programme was inaugurated by Mysore MP Yaduveer Wadiyar. He said, "Mysuru will and should be a model inclusive city—one that leads the way in empowering every individual, regardless of ability, with dignity and opportunity." Swabhimaan aims to equip blind with the skills and tools needed to thrive in the workforce and participate in society. Dr Ananthalakshmi, founder-CEO of EquiBeing Foundation, said, "We believe that Mysuru offers fertile ground for pioneering models of inclusion. This collaboration reaffirms our belief that when institutions and communities come together, real change becomes possible."
