Jomboy producer under fire for ‘kill yourself' comment at George Springer
'F–k you Springer, kill yourself,' Rourke said on his 'Yankees Avenue' livestream after Springer scored to give Toronto a 4-2 lead over the Yankees in the fifth inning of the 8-4 win. 'Piece of s–t.'

The clip went viral on X and Reddit, with fans up in arms at the comments, particularly given Rourke's affiliation with Jomboy Media, which has become a major component of MLB's media ecosystem in recent years.
'I can't stress how much of a pathetic piece of garbage loser you are @DanAlanRourke,' wrote a Blue Jays fan account on X. 'This guy is employed by jomboy telling players to kill themselves. F–k you.'
Jomboy founder Jimmy O'Brien addressed the situation in a video Thursday night.

'Dan Rourke does his livestream for Yanks Ave … and said some stuff you can't say,' O'Brien said. 'I talked with Dan today. Everyone at the company has been talking and he came up to us … and he was feeling awful, and I think he's going to apologize and all of that.'
Yankees Avenue is Rourke's personal livestream, which is unaffiliated with Jomboy Media, but Rourke is employed by Jomboy and is a well-known member of the company.

'He grew up in gaming culture, young kid culture, you talk s–t during livestreams,' O'Brien added. 'That's no excuse to tell a player to go kill yourself. Joking, not joking, obviously you can't say that and it's terrible, and there might be ramifications from it.'
O'Brien said those ramifications could be determined by MLB, which agreed to a strategic partnership with Jomboy in June.

'The league might call us and say, 'Hey, he's not allowed here,'' O'Brien said.
For now, though, none of that has taken place.
O'Brien added that he's learned to tone down his language since he's become a public figure with Jomboy, even if he never meant any of his comments in a malicious way.
'Anyone that's my age used a lot of words in the early 2000s, very freely, that you can't say anymore …used a lot of phrases, not with ill-intent behind them,' O'Brien said. 'Obviously [Rourke] didn't have any ill-intent behind them, but obviously that doesn't excuse anything.'

With moves made and rosters bolstered, it's time to predict how the postseason picture will look when October rolls around. Exact records will not be predicted, but instead it will just be the top six teams in American League with their positions in the playoff picture. Outside of the three names mentioned, none of the acquisitions move the needle much, resulting in a third place finish for the Tigers. Wild Card 1: Seattle Mariners -- A.L. West Key Additions: INF Josh Naylor, INF Eugenio Suárez, RP Caleb Ferguson Seattle grabbed two of the best bats on the market at the deadline in two separate deals, and very few teams had a better deadline than the Mariners. This was a pitching-heavy roster, and Jerry Dipoto went out and got strong bats. If the lineup gets hot, the Mariners could challenge the Astros for the A.L. West crown. Wild Card 2: New York Yankees -- A.L. East Key Additions: RP David Bednar, INF Ryan McMahon, RP Camilo Doval This is the first year the Yankees had multiple needs at the trade deadline, and the Bronx Bombers brought in multiple relievers. However, they took the quantity over quality approach aside from David Bednar, and it's tough to be sold on McMahon over at third base. The glove plays well, but the bat is questionable. Wild Card 3: Boston Red Sox -- A.L. East Key Additions: SP Dustin May, LHP Steven Matz The Red Sox sneak into the playoffs in this scenario for one reason and one reason only: starting pitching. A front three of Garrett Crochet, Brayan Bello and Dustin May will put the team in position to win almost every time they take the hill. Who is Shane Bieber? Blue Jays' trade for former Cy Young winner not without risk
The frenzied final hours before the MLB trade deadline have brought a fresh face to the Blue Jays : former American League Cy Young Award winner Shane Bieber. Bieber, 30, will bolster the Jays rotation as they hope to continue their run as one of the best teams in baseball . But the trade with the Cleveland Guardians is not without risk — Bieber has not made a major league start since April 2024 and is expected to make his return from Tommy John surgery over the next few weeks. Here's what fans should know about him. Bieber has been one of the best pitchers in baseball since his major-league debut with the Guardians in 2018. Between 2018 and 2023, he was 20.7 wins above replacement (WAR), according to Fangraphs, ranked seventh in baseball among starting pitchers. His best stretch came in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, when he led baseball with a 1.63 ERA and 122 strikeouts. He won the AL Cy Young Award, beating out Minnesota's Kenta Maeda and Toronto's Hyun Jin Ryu. Bieber started another 31 games in 2022, posting a 2.88 ERA, and had a 3.80 ERA across 21 starts in 2023. Bieber made only two starts in 2024 before being shut down with elbow pain and undergoing Tommy John surgery. He made his first rehab appearance on May 31 this year and, after a brief setback, worked his way up to a four-inning appearance in Double-A earlier this week. Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt said Bieber felt 'great' after the start and his velocity 'looked good.' Bieber was expected to rejoin Cleveland's rotation in August. While recovering from Tommy John surgery, Bieber signed a one-year, $10 million (U.S.) deal with the Guardians last winter. It includes a $16-million player option for 2026, with a $4-million buyout. The Blue Jays will owe Bieber roughly $3 million for the rest of the season, and he is expected to decline his player option, which ups his price tag to around $7 million for two months of the regular season, plus the post-season. The Jays sent right-handed pitching prospect Khal Stephen to Cleveland. The Jays drafted him in the second round in last year's draft out of Mississippi State University and he was considered the team's fifth-best prospect. Fangraphs also lists Stephen as the 80th-best prospect in baseball. With pitching depth in the organization — including right-hander Trey Yesavage, ranked 61st in baseball by Fangraphs, and lefty Ricky Tiedemann, ranked 94th — the Jays may have been more willing to part with one of their top prospects. Toronto's starting rotation is more stable now than it was a month ago. Max Scherzer is back from the injured list — his thumb injury is no longer a pressing concern — and Eric Lauer has demonstrated he is a viable starter , averaging more than five innings and fewer than two runs across his last eight appearances. But the team is still in need of pitching help, both as depth and in the bullpen. The Blue Jays rotation ranks 24th in baseball in ERA, 20th in innings pitched and 25th in Fangraphs WAR. Bieber comes with risk, but his upside would help Toronto.
