Police report lodged over AI scam video using King's fake images
The video, found on the account @DATUKZULKARNAIN77, is suspected to be part of a fraudulent scheme.
Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa stated that the clip falsely portrays Sultan Ibrahim announcing financial aid for Malaysians in distress.
The video directs viewers to contact an individual named 'Datuk Zulkarnain,' raising immediate red flags.
'The content is fabricated and likely created using AI technology,' Rusdi clarified in an official statement.
Authorities are actively investigating the case under Section 419 of the Penal Code (cheating by impersonation) and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (misuse of network facilities).
The public is urged to remain vigilant against such scams, especially those involving manipulated media.

Miri police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the Commercial Crime Investigation Division here received a police report on the fraud case yesterday. He said the victim in his 50s, who works as an assistant executive at a government agency, received a call from an unknown individual, who introduced himself as a police officer from the Penang police headquarters. The suspect accused the victim of being involved in money laundering and claimed he was on the police's wanted list. 'The victim was instructed to withdraw funds from his EPF and hand it over to the police for investigation purposes. 'He only realised he had been deceived in an online scam involving impersonation of a police officer when he was asked to make another payment. He suffered a financial loss of RM385,000,' Mohd Farhan said in a statement today. The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of between one year and 10 years in prison, caning, and a fine. Mohd Farhan advised the public to remain vigilant and to never disclose or provide any financial information to unknown callers. He said the public must always be cautious and take necessary precautions online, especially if the caller claims to be a friend, acquaintance, courier, law enforcement officer, or court official. 'If you have recently transferred funds to any bank account or e-wallet belonging to a suspect, you are advised to contact the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) on 997 immediately to report non-existent loans, love scams, e-commerce scams phone scams, and others,' he added. KUALA LUMPUR, July 29 (Bernama) -- The High Court here today awarded RM1.1 million in damages to the mother of Dutch model Ivana Esther Robert Smit, whose nude body was found on the sixth-floor balcony of a condominium here eight years ago. Christina Carolina Gerarda Johanna Verstappen had sued the Inspector-General of Police, Dang Wangi investigating officer ASP Faizal Abdullah, the Home Minister, and the Malaysian government for alleged breach of statutory duties and negligence in the investigation into the cause of her daughter's death. In her judgment, Judge Roz Mawar Rozain ordered the defendants to pay RM500,000 in general damages, RM300,000 in aggravated damages, and RM300,000 in exemplary damages to Verstappen.

Man arrested after allegedly attacking 12-year-old girl with hammer
JOHOR BARU: A 12-year-old girl suffered head injuries after she was allegedly bludgeoned by a hammer-wielding man at the lift landing of a flat in Ungku Tun Aminah here on Saturday. Police arrested a 39-year-old man at his home in the area about two hours later. Johor Baru North police chief Assistant Commissioner Balveer Singh said the victim's parent lodged a police report regarding the assault at 5.19pm on the same day. The suspect tested positive for methamphetamine and has a history of criminal offences, including drug-related cases. Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of the alleged assault has been widely shared online. In the viral clips, the girl is seen screaming and entering the lift with a bloodied head wound. While the actual moment of the assault was not captured, her cries can be clearly heard in the recording. Balveer said the victim sustained a torn scalp and swelling on her right hand. She was rushed to Sultanah Aminah Hospital and is currently in stable condition. The suspect has been remanded for seven days until Aug 2. The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon. The offence carries a punishment of up to 10 years in prison, a fine, whipping, or any combination of the three. Balveer also urged the public not to take matters into their own hands or circulate unverified information.
