Saudi FM: Israel's blocking of Ramallah meeting proof of ‘extremism'
Saudi Gazette report AMMAN — Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan said on Sunday that the Israeli government's refusal to allow a delegation of Arab ministers to Ramallah in the occupied West Bank showed its 'extremism and rejection of peace.' Addressing a press conference in Amman after attending the extraordinary meeting of the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee on Gaza Strip, Prince Faisal also underscored that the creation of an independent Palestinian state is the only viable solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict. Prince Faisal said: "The committee praised the reform agenda that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is working on." He stressed that the Palestinian Authority is facing a party that does not want any solutions. "The Palestinian Authority continues to fulfill its duties, and is committed to the agreements. The authority is considered the rational party in the crisis," he said. Prince Faisal emphasized the importance of the international community's understanding of the true nature of Palestinian positions, which adopt a reformist approach to internal affairs, even in the most difficult circumstances. "This is aimed to fulfill their responsibilities toward the Palestinian people first, and then toward their neighbors and the international community," he said. The Saudi minister criticized Israel's negative approach toward protecting Palestinian rights. "We see nothing but violence, and in Gaza we see nothing but a war of extermination, and in the West Bank there are successive steps clearly aimed at weakening the Palestinian cause." He reiterated the Kingdom's position that those who adopt the approach of "no solution except through a two-state solution" must adopt positions that support this approach, including recognition of Palestine. Prince Faisal emphasized that Israel's actions, such as the refusal of the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee's entry to the Palestinian city of Ramallah, clearly demonstrate the extent of Israel's understanding of the international position on the importance of alternative solutions. In the same context, he presented a viewpoint on the rumors, emphasizing the importance of countries that adopt a public policy stating that there is no solution to the Arab-Palestinian-Israeli conflict except through a viable two-state solution, underlining this position and allowing for the recognition of Palestine. This would send a clear message to Israel about the need to move forward in finding a path to establishing this state, reconciling and coexisting with it. Saudi foreign minister also stressed that European positions on Israel are not sufficient, saying: "As Arabs and Muslims, we will not accept any solution other than the establishment of a Palestinian state." It is noteworthy that the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee on Gaza announced the postponement of its planned visit to Ramallah, scheduled for Sunday, due to Israel's obstruction of its mission by refusing the delegation's entry into the airspace of the occupied West Bank, which is controlled by Israel, according to a statement issued by the Jordanian Foreign Ministry. Prince Faisal bin Farhan arrived in Jordan to attend the meeting of the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee and supporting efforts to end the war and blockade on Gaza, as part of the committee's ongoing world tours. The Saudi minister said that the Palestine issue figured highly during his meeting with Jordanian King Abdullah.

Saudi FM Arrives in Jordan for Gaza Meeting
The Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, has arrived in Amman, the capital of Jordan, to participate in a meeting on Gaza, according to the Saudi Foreign Ministry. On Saturday, Prince Faisal bin Farhan landed in Amman to take part in a meeting of the Ministerial Committee assigned by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit on the developments in the Gaza Strip. The meeting will explore ways to support efforts to end the war and blockade on Gaza. The meeting originally aimed to coordinate a visit to Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, scheduled on Sunday. However, the visit was postponed due to Israel's decision to prevent the Arab delegation from meeting the President of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, according to Jordan's Foreign Ministry. The delegation, which include the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, Jordan and the UAE, condemned the Israeli ban as a 'blatant violation' of Israel's obligations as an occupying power. The Saudi Foreign Minister traveled to Jordan right after an official visit to Syria, where he met with the Syrian Transitional President, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, in Damascus. Prince Faisal was accompanied by a high-level economic delegation to discuss avenues for joint cooperation aimed at supporting Syria's economy, enhancing the development of its governmental institutions, and fulfilling the aspirations of the Syrian people, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement. The discussions led to the announcement of a Saudi-Qatari joint financial support package for Syrian public sector employees for three months, according to Saudi Gazette. 'This support aims to contribute to economic and social stability, improve living conditions, and reinforce development efforts in Syria,' Saudi Arabia and Qatar said in a joint statement. Arab Ministers Condemn Israel's Ban on West Bank Visit
Jordan's Foreign Affairs Ministry has condemned Israel's decision to ban an Arab delegation from visiting Ramallah and meeting with Palestinian officials, according to Arab News. The ministry described the decision as 'a blatant violation of Israel's obligations as the occupying power.' Consequently, members of the ministerial committee decided to postpone their visit to Ramallah due to Israel's rejection of the delegation's entry through the airspace of the occupied West Bank. Planned Ramallah Visit The delegation consisted of ministers from Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and as well as United Arab Emirates. Importantly, the ministers were set to participate in 'a provocative meeting' to explore the establishment of a Palestinian state. 'Such a state would undoubtedly become a terrorist state in the heart of the land of Israel,' an Israeli official said. The source also added that Israel will not cooperate with such moves that seek to harm Israel and its security. The meeting proceeds an international conference, co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, that will take place in New York on June 17-20 to consider the issue of Palestinian statehood. Mounting Pressure on Israel Recently, Israel has been experiencing mounting pressure from the United Nations and European countries which made serious steps to recognize a two-state solution in ordered to end the Israeli Palestinian conflict. On Friday, French President Emmanuel Macron said that recognizing a Palestinian state was not only a 'moral duty but a political necessity.' Meanwhile, Defense Minister Israel Katz said that Israel was planning to build a 'Jewish Israeli state' in the occupied West Bank, according to Al-Arabiya. Katz's remarks follow Israel's announcement of the creation of 22 new settlements in the West Bank. 'This is a decisive response to the terrorist organizations that are trying to harm and weaken our hold on this land,' Katz said. Katz also noted that the new settlements would be a clear message to French President Emmanuel Macron and his associates: they will recognize a Palestinian state on paper – but Israel will build the Jewish Israeli state here on the ground.
