Heron flies free after release from fishing wire
A heron has been released back into the wild after being freed from a tangle of fishing wire.
Brinsley Animal Rescue in Nottinghamshire said the bird had "beaten the odds" after it was found trapped and wounded near the Ilkeston canal.
Centre co-founder Jon Beresford, who nursed the heron back to health, said he was concerned the bird might struggle but was relieved when it "flew and flew".
"It was amazing and made all the hard work worthwhile," Mr Beresford said.

Fortune Feimster and Jacquelyn 'Jax' Smith are heading for divorce after 5-year marriage
Fortune Feimster and her wife of five years, Jacquelyn "Jax" Smith, are divorcing, the former couple posted Monday on social media. "Together, we have made the difficult decision to end our marriage," they wrote in a statement posted on their Instagram accounts. "We've been separated for a little bit, both of us dealing with tough health situations in our families, so it wasn't something we were ready to talk about." We've had 10 years together, and there's so much to celebrate about that and so much we will look back on fondly." "The Mindy Project" actor, a Groundlings veteran, requested privacy in the wake of the news. Smith was a kindergarten teacher and later joined Feimster's creative team, executive producing three of her comedy specials, "Sweet & Salty" in 2020, "Good Fortune" in 2022 and "Crushing It" in 2024. The two met at a 2015 Pride event in Chicago, dated long distance for a few years, got engaged in 2018 and married in a small ceremony during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic. The women's families attended the wedding via Zoom. Read more: Fortune Feimster used her relatable voice in comedy to write her own success story "I want people to know me and Jax are like everybody else," the 44-year-old comedian told People in October 2022. "We happen to be gay but our story is not much different from other people's. ... You don't have to be gay to relate to an engagement story." Divorce? Definitely — albeit unfortunately — relatable. Feimster credits Chelsea Handler with launching her career as a writer-performer-standup comedian. She is credited as a writer on almost 600 episodes of "Chelsea Lately" between 2011 and 2014. 'She was putting people on TV that no one else was putting on TV,' Feimster told The Times in 2023, 'and not really caring if you fit the mold of who should be on TV. ... She was the first person who gave me the 'yes' when everyone was telling me 'no.'' Get notified when the biggest stories in Hollywood, culture and entertainment go live. Sign up for L.A. Bills' Shane Buechele drops Josh Allen wedding photos
The post Bills' Shane Buechele drops Josh Allen wedding photos appeared first on ClutchPoints. Buffalo Bills quarterback and former Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl winner Shane Buechele shared photos from the wedding of Bills quarterback Josh Allen and singer-actress Hailee Steinfeld. The reigning NFL MVP tied the knot with the Pitch Perfect 2 star in an intimate ceremony at the picturesque San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California, on May 31, 2025. Many of Allen's teammates attended, including Dawson Knox, Spencer Brown, Mitch Trubisky, and Buechele himself. Buechele arrived with his wife, Paige, and their newborn daughter. On Instagram, Paige posted photos of their elegant wedding outfits, joining the celebration of Allen and Steinfeld's special day. Buechele's football journey has taken many turns. After going undrafted in the 2021 NFL Draft, he signed with the Kansas City Chiefs that May. The Chiefs initially waived him and placed him on the practice squad. Later, they promoted him to the active roster in November, though he remained inactive for games. In the 2022 season, Buechele stayed on the roster but still didn't see action. Still, as a member of the Chiefs, he earned a Super Bowl LVII ring after Kansas City's win over the Philadelphia Eagles. In August 2023, Buechele signed with the Bills and joined their practice squad. The Chiefs brought him back on a reserve/future contract in January 2024. Unfortunately, a neck injury sidelined him for the entire season. Determined to return, Buechele re-signed with Buffalo on a one-year deal. He now hopes to secure a spot in the Bills' quarterback room. Allen and Steinfeld began dating in May 2023 but kept the relationship secret until going public in July 2024. A few months later, Allen proposed in November, and the couple announced their engagement a week afterward. Teammate Dion Dawkins, an offensive lineman, accidentally spoiled some wedding details. Realizing his slip, Dawkins quickly backtracked whenever asked about it again. Despite staying silent on social media, several wedding photos of Allen and Steinfeld surfaced online. Even New York Governor Kathy Hochul extended congratulations, celebrating the NFL's newest 'power couple.' As they embark on this exciting new chapter, fans and teammates alike cheer them on, both on the field and in life.
