Osmania Hospital doctor's painless haemorrhoid treatment technique gets int'l recognition
The 'Pallam's Painless Hybrid Laser Sandwich Procedure for Grade III and Grade IV Haemorrhoids' is the treatment devised by Dr Pallam Praveen and is accepted by the International Journal of Surgery. The conventional procedure is complicated by incontinence, prolonged pain and recurrence. With the procedure devised by Dr Praveen, there is superfast reduction in pain, recurrence is almost zero and since it is sphincter sparing, there is no incontinence. Patients undergoing this procedure can walk home on the same day. He has performed this new procedure in more than 500 surgeries in the last 4 years. This research is accepted by the reputed International Journal of Surgery for publication.
The procedure merges the benefits of the conventional surgery and laser surgery and assures faster relief to the patient with minimal invasion.
All the faculty of Osmania Medical College and Osmania General Hospital appreciated the work of Dr P Praveen. After sugar boards, Hyderabad CBSE schools set up ‘Oil boards'
HYDERABAD: After launching 'Sugar Boards' last year, CBSE-affiliated schools are now introducing 'Oil Boards' to raise awareness about unhealthy fat consumption among students. The initiative aims to combat rising childhood obesity by encouraging healthier food choices. Several CBSE schools in Hyderabad have begun implementing the campaign, while some are planning to roll it out by the second week of August. The awareness drive includes poster-making competitions, health tip displays, and sessions focused on reducing oil intake. All posters and charts will be created by students, with schools also organising seminars on healthy living. A staff member at Kendriya Vidyalaya Picket said, 'Following CBSE guidelines, we plan to install Oil Boards and will involve students in making posters on the ill effects of excessive oil consumption.' At Kendriya Vidyalaya, Trimulgherry, the campaign includes bulletin board posters, placards in dining areas, and monthly orientation sessions for parents. Suchitra Academy correspondent Praveen said, 'We're conducting awareness sessions and speaking to our school cook about the brand and quantity of oil used. Through project-based learning, students are being educated on nutrition and food choices.'

Sadar hosp starts liver, pancreas and biliary treatment services
Ranchi: Sadar hospital in the state capital launched its new liver, pancreas, and biliary system OPD on Sunday. Liver specialist Dr Praveen Kumar from Kolkata conducted his first outpatient service, advising three patients on issues related to fatty liver and other hepatic ailments. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now According to experts, the initiative is part of a health campaign titled Fatty Liver Free Ranchi, which aims to raise awareness and ensure early detection and treatment of liver-related diseases, particularly fatty liver, which is increasingly being diagnosed even in children. During the consultations, Dr Praveen advised patients to undergo specific diagnostic tests and adopt dietary changes as preventive measures. "Early detection and timely lifestyle correction can prevent liver disease from escalating," said Dr Praveen. His consultation is completely free, with only a Rs 10 registration fee. Civil surgeon Dr Prabhat Kumar emphasised the importance of such specialist services at the district level. He said, "Dr Praveen is an expert in treating diseases of the liver, pancreas, and biliary system. Most liver conditions, if diagnosed early, can be managed at home through appropriate treatment. Around 10 to 20 percent of patients, however, reach the stage of acute or chronic liver failure and may require ICU-level care. We are preparing to offer such advanced support at Sadar hospital itself," he said. "Children are becoming increasingly vulnerable due to sedentary lifestyles. This condition, earlier seen only in adults, is now being detected in school-age kids," added Dr Prabhat. The hospital is also working in collaboration with schools to spread awareness. Dr Prabhat said, "We recently held discussions with school principals to educate students about liver health. The goal is to promote healthier habits early in life. "
