SEREMBAN: A 41-year-old woman pleaded guilty at the Sessions Court here to a charge of trespassing into the home of actress Zarina Anjoulie.
Nurul Nur Ariani Muhammad Zahari did not contest the charge after it was read to her before judge Mohamad Kamil Nizam on Monday (May 19).
The accused, a social media influencer, was charged under Section 447 of the Penal Code for criminal trespass.
She was charged with committing the offence around 5pm on May 7 at a house in Kg Chelet in Nilai.
Offenders can be jailed up to six months or fined up to RM3,000 or both upon conviction.
The court set June 19 for sentencing.
Deputy public prosecutor Nadia Ezzati Mohd Zainal told the court her team was offering the accused bail of RM8,00 pending sentencing.
However, lawyer K. Gejalaxmi from the Legal Aid Department pleaded for a lower amount as the accused was self-employed and had to provide for her children, ailing father and siblings.
The court then set bail at RM2,500 with one surety.

Rider charged with physical sexual assault on six-year-old
KUALA LUMPUR: A despatch rider pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to physically sexually assaulting his six-year-old daughter last year. The 37-year-old father of two is accused of committing the offence against his daughter at a house in Kampung Datuk Keramat here, between June 28 and July 10, 2024. The charge is framed under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, read together with Section 16(1) of the same law. If convicted, Section 14(a) provides for a maximum prison sentence of 20 years and whipping, while Section 16(1) carries a jail term of up to five years and a maximum of two strokes of the cane. Deputy public prosecutor M. Saravanan requested bail be set at RM20,000 in one surety, along with an additional condition that the accused must report to the nearest police station once a month. 'In addition, the accused must surrender his passport to the court and is prohibited from contacting or disturbing the victim, as he is the child's biological father and has visitation rights,' said the prosecutor. Meanwhile, the accused, who was unrepresented, appealed for a lower bail on the grounds of his RM2,000 monthly income and the fact that the victim is currently living with his ex-wife, who has since remarried. Judge Azrul Darus set July 16 for mention and granted the accused bail of RM5,000 in one surety, along with the condition that he must report to the nearest police station once a month until the disposal of the case.

Yusoff Rawther gives cops seven days to provide update over report lodged in 2024
KUALA LUMPUR: Former research assistant Muhammed Yusoff Rawther is giving the police seven days to provide an update on a police report he lodged almost a year ago. In a letter addressed to Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razaruddin Husain, his solicitor Law Practice of Rafique demanded a response to the report lodged on Sept 12, 2024. In the report, Muhammed Yusoff claimed that he was a victim of entrapment by two individuals. His lawyers wanted to know if the two individuals named in the report, both politicians, had been called for investigation or to have their statements recorded. "We await an answer from Tan Sri in seven days. Should there be no reply, we reserve our client's right to pursue further legal action," it said in the letter Friday (June 13). On Thursday (June 12), the High Court acquitted Muhammed Yusoff from two charges of drug trafficking and possession of two imitation firearms. Justice Muhammad Jamil Hussin, in his decision at the end of the prosecution's case, said the prosecution had failed to prove a prima facie against Muhammed Yusoff. He had been accused of having control, custody and possession of two imitation pistols and 305g of cannabis. Muhammed Yusoff claimed that he was a victim and had been framed. The court said the police did not carry out any investigation to verify the claim. Justice Muhammad Jamil said this failure to investigate denied the accused's right to a fair trial and therefore it was not safe to call for his defence. On Sept 12, 2024, Muhammed Yusoff was accused of trafficking 305g of cannabis, found in his vehicle near the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters at 10.15am on Sept 6, 2024. He was charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a sentence of life imprisonment and at least 12 strokes of the cane, upon conviction. Muhammed Yusoff was also charged with possessing two imitation firearms by the roadside near a condominium on Jalan Bukit Kiara at 9.25am the same day. The charge was framed under Section 36(1) of the Arms Act 1960, which provides for a maximum penalty of one year in prison, a fine of up to RM5,000, or both, upon conviction.
