Arab-Islamic ministerial committee condemns Israel's Gaza occupation plan as crimes against humanity
RIYADH — The ministerial committee mandated by the Joint Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit on developments in Gaza has condemned Israel's announcement of its intention to impose full military control over the Gaza Strip, describing it as crimes against humanity, a flagrant violation of international law, and an attempt to entrench the illegal occupation.
Comprising Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Nigeria, Palestine, Qatar, Türkiye, the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and several other member states, the committee stressed that such actions obliterate any opportunity for peace, undermine regional and international efforts toward de-escalation, and exacerbate severe humanitarian conditions in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem.
In a joint statement issued in Riyadh on Saturday, the committee called for an immediate and comprehensive cessation of Israeli aggression, the lifting of the siege on Gaza, and the unconditional delivery of humanitarian assistance including food, medicine, and fuel.
It urged the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure in accordance with international humanitarian law, while supporting mediation efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States to achieve a ceasefire, exchange of prisoners and hostages, and end the ongoing suffering.
The statement reaffirmed the committee's support for establishing an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with United Nations resolutions.It also underscored the urgency of implementing the outcomes of the recent High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, including halting the war in Gaza and advancing a political path toward a comprehensive two-state solution.

Netanyahu announces plan to allow foreign reporters into Gaza
JERUSALEM: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Sunday a plan to allow more foreign journalists to report inside Gaza with the military, as he laid out his vision for victory in the territory during a rare press conference. Access to Gaza has been tightly controlled over the course of 22 months of war against Hamas. Israel has blocked most foreign correspondents from independently accessing the territory since it launched its campaign there following the Palestinian militant group's unprecedented October 7, 2023 attack, with officials often citing security as a reason.
