In a detailed conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Mimoh shared how the industry's criticism at times crossed professional boundaries and became deeply personal, especially when directed at his mother.
Mimoh explained that while he was prepared for criticism due to being the son of a film legend, it was particularly distressing when individuals began mocking his mother. According to him, those criticizing him were not just attacking his work but using him as a medium to demean his father's legacy. He stated that because Mithun Chakraborty's career left little room for direct criticism, people found a way to insult him indirectly through his son.
Targeting of Yogeeta Bali by Industry Insiders
What hurt Mimoh the most was the treatment of his mother, Yogeeta Bali. He revealed that the situation escalated to a point where members of the film fraternity—some of them well-known actors—began openly mocking her. While Mimoh accepted criticism aimed at himself and even his father as part of the celebrity experience, he drew the line when it involved his mother. He recalled how, unlike anonymous public trolling, these remarks came from people within the industry, making the experience more painful and unacceptable.
He shared that many did not mention him by name in their comments, instead referring to him as 'Mithun Chakraborty's son' or 'Mithun da ka beta.' This, he said, revealed a deeper intention—using him as a tool to bring down his father's stature indirectly.
Mimoh's Path Away from Comparison
Reflecting on the expectations of living up to Mithun Chakraborty's image, Mimoh admitted that he once felt burdened by the legacy. However, his perspective has evolved over time. He no longer attempts to match his father's work or live in his shadow. Instead, he focuses on developing his own identity and selecting roles that resonate with him personally.
Mimoh emphasized that there can only be one Mithun Chakraborty, and any attempt to replicate his success would be futile. He acknowledged that even if he tried to imitate his father, he would never be able to match his stature. His goal now is to be remembered for his own performances—citing his role in Haunted and his recent appearance in Khakee: The Bengal Chapter as examples of the legacy he hopes to build independently.
