Odilon Kossounou joins Atalanta

Atalanta have announced the signing of Odilon Kossounou from Bayer Leverkusen on a permanent basis. The Ivorian defender joins the Serie A side for a reported €23m following a successful loan spell which included 23 appearances across all competitions. Kossounou – who had one year remaining on his contract at Leverkusen – was praised by B04 sporting director Simon Rolfes upon his departure: 'Odilon was an important factor in our team in the most successful year in the club's history. We are happy he has settled in so well at Atalanta and we wish him all the best for the future.' Advertisement After winning the Africa Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast, Kossounou went on to win the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal titles in what was an unbeaten domestic campaign for Bayer Leverkusen, who also went on to the Europa League final, losing in Dublin against Atalanta. During his time at Bayer Leverkusen, Kossounou played 102 games across all competitions. GGFN | Daniel Pinder

U.S. Open projected cut line: Rory McIlroy, other big names, in danger of missing the weekend

He's got work to do to get there. The top 60 players and ties will make the cut at Oakmont. Currently, that's at +5 ... and McIlroy is at +6. Advertisement The number — +5 — is likely to move. Currently, there are 59 players at +4, meaning if one player from the +5 group birdies, the cut is back to +4. But if history is an indicator, the number is going to rise, not go lower. The last time the U.S. Open was played at Oakmont (2016), the cut line fell at +6. Others in danger of missing the cut: Jordan Spieth, Tony Finau, Dustin Johnson, Patrick Cantlay, Shane Lowry and Justin Thomas. Scheffler has not missed a cut at a major since the 2022 PGA Championship. To follow the cut line, click here for the complete live leaderboard. This story will be updated.
