Tornado warning in effect for Kemptville, Merrickville

A tornado warning has been issued for parts of eastern Ontario, including the communities Kemptville, Merrickville and Oxford Station.
Environment Canada says meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm moving east that is 'possibly producing a tornado' with damaging winds, large hail and intense rainfall.
Wind gusts could reach 90 km/h, the forecaster said in a bulletin at 3:20 p.m.
'This is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation,' Environment Canada says.
The warning also includes the communities of Jasper, Wolford Centre, Newmanville and McReynolds.
The forecaster says to take shelter immediately if you hear a roaring sound or see a funnel cloud, swirling debris near the ground, flying debris, or any threatening weather approaching.
Tornado warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing tornadoes.
Severe thunderstorm watches, warnings for eastern Ontario
A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for a wide swath of eastern Ontario Monday afternoon, with a severe thunderstorm warning for areas south of Ottawa.
Environment Canada says conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts of up to 90 km/h and heavy rain.
In the Perth and Smiths Falls areas, a severe thunderstorm warning is in effect.
'At 2:56 PM EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts and heavy rain,' the warning says.
'This line of severe thunderstorms is located from Westport to Drummond Centre, moving east at 70 km/h.'
Locations impacted include: Perth, Smiths Falls, Murphys Point Provincial Park, Merrickville, Rideau River Provincial Park and Kemptville.

The city of Ottawa was drenched by rainshowers Monday morning as a system of unsettled weather moved across the region.
Environment Canada says 25.1 millimetres of rain fell at the Ottawa Airport between Sunday afternoon and late Monday morning. The Gatineau airport saw 33 mm over the same 24-hour period.

Environment Canada's weather outlook for Monday calls for a high of 22 C with a humidex of 30. Showers are expected to end in the afternoon.
The UV index for Monday is 4, or moderate.
There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms into the evening, with a low of 16 C overnight.
Tuesday's forecast has a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 25 C and a humidex of 30. The expected UV index is 9, or very high.
Wednesday's outlook is partly cloudy with a high of 27 C and a 30 per cent chance of showers.
The average high this time of year is around 26 C.
