Coronation Street fans shocked as they spot star's ‘fuming' face as he loses out to rival at British Soap Awards

The Sun05-06-2025
CORONATION Street fans were shocked as they spotted one star's reaction to losing at The British Soap Awards 2025.
ITV Viewers were quick to comment on actor Luca Toolan's disappointed expression after rival EastEnders scooped the award for Best Single Episode.

The soap star played Mason Radcliffe on the soap before his character was tragically killed off.
The actor's chances of picking up an award tonight was dashed when it was announced that EastEnders' special flashback episode about Phil Mitchell's Psychosis had won.
Those watching at home claimed Luca looked "furious" with the result.
One wrote: "The Mason actor didn't look too happy there."
"Oh no! Luca Toolan looked gutted," a second said.
While some fans said Luca was "robbed".
This person said: "Sorry but that award should have gone to Luca for the knife crime story for Mason."
A second posted: "Corrie robbed, should've won for that Mason storyline."
Another fumed: "Excuse my language but how the F*** did Mason's death not win anything? Diabolical results."
Shocking scenes saw Mason attacked by his brothers and flee - but the thugs chased him down.
And when Dylan tried to intervene - bringing Mason's knife - it was taken from him and used to stab Mason.
He stumbled into the playground and hallucinated a future where he reunited with Betsy and planned for his new life in Germany.
But as the truth was revealed about Dylan's involvement, the reality was shown as Abi Webster found Mason bleeding out.
She screamed for an ambulance and tried to apply pressure to his wounds, desperate to save him.
Mason told her: 'I'm going to die, aren't I? I'm going to die.'
Abi said: 'You're not going to die. Mason, listen to me, an ambulance is on the way and you're not going to die.'
However the ambulance was distracted by a hoax call and delayed in getting to Mason so he was in a bad way by the time it arrived.
Rushed to hospital with a weeping Betsy and Abi with him, the doctors battled to save his life.
But sadly there was nothing they could do and Mason died in the hospital leaving Betsy devastated.
BBC rival EastEnders swept the board after collecting a total of eight gongs in its 40th anniversary year - more than double its nearest rival, Channel 4's Hollyoaks who got three awards.
EastEnders was awarded Best Soap after its huge live episode and anniversary week which saw Anita Dobson return as Angie Watts and Martin Fowler killed off in the arms of his love, Stacey.
It was certainly not the only award that they picked up with actress Lacey Turner receiving the trophy for Best Leading Performer ahead of her impending exit from the show.
The 40th anniversary also managed to clutch the Scene of the Year thanks to Angie's shock return.
Steve McFadden a won a trophy for Best Dramatic Performance as Phil Mitchell but did not attend the ceremony with Angela Wynter and Rudolph Walker also receiving prizes as Patrick and Yolande - beating Corrie fan favourites Lisa Swain and Carla Connor, affectionately known as Swarla, to the Best On-Screen Partnership award.
The Walford based soap also collected the Comedy Performance gongs and Villain of the Year.
In a major blow to Coronation Street, only David Neilson picked up the Outstanding Achievement Award as Roy Cropper which was presented to him by by his on-screen wife Julie Hesmondhalgh.

Good Morning Britain star's future 'sealed' amid ITV's major reshuffle

Good Morning Britain star's future 'sealed' amid ITV's major reshuffle it has been claimed that a Good Morning Britain star has signed 'a short-term deal' to remain on the ITV breakfast show GMB star has reportedly signed "a short-term deal" to stay on the ITV breakfast show. (Image: ITV) Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Madeley has reportedly put pen to paper on "a short-term deal" to remain with the ITV breakfast programme. ‌ The 69-year-old television personality first became part of the show in 2021 after Piers Morgan's exit. MailOnline has reported that Madeley has committed to a "six-month contract that is to begin in September." ‌ The publication also stated that this forms part of a "temporary arrangement while ITV reviews its presenter line-up". ‌ They further revealed that main presenter Susanna Reid remains the sole anchor "guaranteed a longer-term deal", reports the Express. This development comes amid news that ITV plans a major shake-up in January 2026 aimed at cutting costs by millions, with executives reducing programmes like Lorraine to a mere 30 minutes. Richard joined Good Morning Britain in 2021 following Piers Morgan's exit (Image: ITV) ‌ A source revealed to The Sun: "Richard is one of the biggest names on the show, but even he hasn't been offered a long-term deal. He's signed for six more months and will then re-consider how the show looks. As things stand, almost every prominent face on the show is in talks. "Some are going to go in the reshuffle, so it will depend on who rates well with focus groups and how much money each of them is insisting on." Richard Madeley's representatives have been contacted for comment. ‌ This follows the earlier announcement this year that Lorraine and Loose Women have seen their regular broadcasting slots dramatically cut in a harsh decision by ITV, taking effect from January 2026. Under the revised daytime programming, Lorraine will no longer occupy its traditional hour-long 9am time slot, instead broadcasting from 9.30am to 10am on a seasonal basis for 30 weeks annually. ITV will undergo a drastic reshuffle in January 2026 (Image: ITV) ‌ Additionally, Loose Women will maintain its one-hour duration from 12.30pm, though this too will operate seasonally for 30 weeks each year. Reports from MailOnline suggest that Loose Women is preparing to eliminate its live studio audience as part of cost-cutting measures. When sought clarification regarding these programme alterations, a spokesperson responded: "While there is a proposal to not have a studio audience for Loose Women from 2026, that doesn't necessarily mean that we'll never have a studio audience again; it just won't be in the same way as it is now. "At this stage, we are still exploring new ways of working and producing the show when we move to a new studio next year."
