To facilitate residents of Mohali district, Municipal Council offices will remain open on Saturday and Sunday for the collection of property tax. The government has extended the rebate period on property tax payments until July 31. Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal appealed to the residents of Kharar, Kurali, Zirakpur, Dera Bassi, Naya Gaon, Banur, Lalru, and Gharuan to clear their outstanding property tax dues by July 31, 2025, and take full advantage of the ongoing rebate. The DC said that under the special rebate drive, the district has collected ₹12.59 crore in outstanding dues since July 1. She added that this initiative is part of the one-time settlement (OTS) scheme launched by the Punjab government, which provides relief on penalties and interest for long-pending or partially paid property taxes. As per the scheme, taxpayers can pay their entire principal outstanding amount up to March 31, 2025, by July 31, 2025, and receive 100% waiver on penalties and interest. She stated, 'If dues are paid between August 1 and October 31, 2025, a 50% waiver on penalty and interest will be applicable. However, from November 1, 2025, full penalties and interest will be levied on outstanding tax amounts.' The DC urged all property owners with pending dues to make the most of this opportunity and support the government's efforts to improve civic infrastructure and services. Providing a breakdown of tax collections since July 1, she mentioned that Zirakpur led the list with recoveries of ₹814.94 lakh, followed by Kharar with ₹227 lakh, Dera Bassi with ₹125.62 lakh, Naya Gaon with ₹32.90 lakh, Kurali with ₹26.95 lakh, and Banur with ₹18.51 lakh.

Ludhiana: With just a week to go for residents to pay the pending property tax without any interest and penalty, MC commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal has appealed to them to avail themselves of the benefits of the one-time settlement (OTS) scheme by submitting their dues by July 31. The MC chief has asked zonal commissioners and superintendents, and other officials to expedite the recovery of dues from residents and crack the whip on defaulters. He held a meeting with them at the zone 'D' office of the civic body in Sarabha Nagar Thursday. MC additional commissioner Paramdeep Singh, assistant commissioner (UT) Pragati Rani, zonal commissioners Abhishek Sharma (zone A), Neeraj Jain (zone B), Gurpal Singh (zone C), and Jasdev Singh Sekhon (zone D), among other officials, were in attendance at the meeting. Similar directions have also been issued to officials of the operations and maintenance (O&M) cell for the recovery of water/sewer bills from the residents.
