Sarah Michelle Gellar reunites with her Buffy The Vampire Slayer co-star Alyson Hannigan as they attend the screening of hard-hitting new Lifetime movie Pretty Hurts

Daily Mail21-05-2025
Buffy The Vampire Slayer fans were treated to a surprise reunion on Tuesday night, as Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alyson Hannigan attended the screening of the new Lifetime movie Pretty Hurts.
The pair have joined forces with GSK and Ask2BSure to raise awareness of the impact of meningitis with the new film, which focuses on a mother whose daughter is diagnosed with the disease.
And 28 years after making their debut in the iconic series, Sarah and Alyson were in high spirits as they posed for snaps together at the film's premiere, ahead of its broadcast on Lifetime on June 28.
Sarah, who played the titular vampire slayer, cut a stylish figure in a black strapless velvet jumpsuit, while Alyson, who played Willow Rosenberg, opted for a burgundy printed floral dress.
The film is alongside a partnership with Ask2BSure campaign, which encourages parents of teens and young adults ages 16-23 to start a conversation with their teen's doctor about meningitis and vaccination.

Joining the pair was the film's star Haylie Duff, who cut a chic figure in a white blazer, loose-fitting jeans and cream heels.
As the newest spokesperson for the larger Ask2BSure campaign, Alyson shared she was moved to fron the campaign after hearing real stories of families impacted by meningitis.
She said: 'As a mom, I know how hard it can be to stay on top of everything, especially when it comes to my teen's health, and it is so important to ask the right questions about meningitis risk and vaccination.
'I'm proud to have joined the Ask2BSure campaign so that I can empower other parents to speak up and ask their teen's doctor for more information.'
It comes after it was revealed that the hotly-anticipated Buffy reboot has cast its new slayer with Sarah herself breaking the news to her new co-star.
The acclaimed actress revealed Ryan Kiera Armstrong, 15, been cast as the titular character in the reboot of the WB hit, that was originally the air from 1997 to 2003.
The casting decision came via a Zoom call in which Gellar asked Armstrong one very important question.
'Do you want to stand beside me and save the world?,' Gellar asked and Armstrong replied, 'I'm so honored, thank you for trusting me,' an elated Armstrong said through a mixture of tears and laughter.
'From the moment I saw Ryan's audition, I knew there was only one girl that I wanted by my side,' Gellar said.
'To have that kind of emotional intelligence, and talent, at such a young age is truly a gift. The bonus is that her smile lights up even the darkest room.'
And it was Armstrong's elated and charming reaction to the news that captured the hearts of the Buffy fan universe who are largely on the new Slayer's side.
Sarah Michelle was 18 when she stepped into the Slayer's shoes.
Armstrong's breakthrough role came at the age of eight in 2019's The Art of Racing in the Rain opposite Amanda Seyfried.
Armstrong has also been busy in TV with a recurring role in Anne with an E on Netflix as well as FX's American Horror Story: Red Tide, Disney+'s Star Wars: Skeleton Crew with Jude Law and in a recurring role on Ethan Hawke's The Lowdown.
Ryan also stepped into the role Drew Barrymore once held in the remake of Firestarter in 2022.
Fans were divided over the casting of Armstrong - with some delighted at the new slayer and others citing Buffy lore, and wondering why all the Slayers were activated in season seven of Buffy the Vampire Slayer if they aren't going to be used now.
The new Buffy is a reboot of the popular WB series set in the present day. All those reactivated Slayers would be 22 years older than they were in the final season of the series in 2003.

Iconic '90s TV star, 98, sparks fears with tribute post as concerned fans go into meltdown

Fans of the popular 1990s sitcom Boy Meets World were in shock on Thursday after they misinterpreted a social media post from one of the series' most popular stars. William Daniels, who is beloved for his role as the high school teacher Mr. Feeny on the show, nearly gave his fans a heart attack after he shared an Instagram post featuring a stock photo of himself from his Boy Meets World days. Some fans who briefly glimpsed the photo of the 98-year-old entertainer instantly feared for the worst, worrying that it might be an announcement that the star had died. But many sheepishly admitted that they had jumped to conclusions when they read the accompanying caption, which hilariously contrasted with their initial fears. Rather than announcing somber news, Daniels — who is alive and well — was advertising that he was selling signed photos of himself at a discounted price for Boy Meets World superfans. 'Something about this time of year always takes me back to one of my favorite roles as Mr. Feeny,' the post read. 'Let's celebrate this back-to-school season with 10% off all signed Feeny photos from our shop, now through September 15th!' The photo resembled the kind of image of an actor in their glory days that might accompany an announcement that they had died, with Daniels looking smart in a dark sport coat and a purple patterned tie as he crossed his arms and grinned faintly at the camera. In the comments on Daniels' photo, fans admitted they were fooled by his photo in their haste. 'Every f****n time a picture gets posted, I fear he passed,' one user admitted. Another fan posted a gif of Denzel Washington looking shocked and then relieved, while one fan admitted, 'My heart skipped a beat.' 'I hate the fact that every time I see these posts my heart drops 😂😂,' another person wrote. 'Dang we all really thought the same thing here didn't we 💀,' one poster joked. Others jokingly took Daniels to task for giving them a fright. 'You can't keep scaring me like this,' wrote one concerned fan. 'BILL STOP DOING THAT!!' wrote one user, while another added, 'MR. FEENY!!! Don't do that I thought you departed from us!' In the comments on Daniels' photo, fans admitted they were fooled by his photo in their haste 'No, you can't be posting things like this. Damn near gave me a heart attack,' wrote a formerly distraught fan. Some fans even suggested that Daniels was fooling them for a laugh, including one user who wrote, 'atp you do this on purpose.' Daniels is best known today for Boy Meets World, which ran for seven seasons on ABC, from 1993 to 2000. Ben Savage starred as Cory Matthews, whose awkward growing pains were followed from middle school through high school and college, while Will Friedle and Rider Strong played his close friends and Danielle Fishel appeared as his longtime love interest Topanga. Daniels had a major supporting part as Cory's neighbor and teacher George Feeny, who later became his high school principal and eventually took a job as a college professor. He wasn't just a teacher to Cory and his pals, but also a mentor at a time of rapid change for them. Later in the series, Daniels' real-life wife, the 96-year-old actress Bonnie Barlett, joined the series to play Mr. Feeny's new wife. Daniels returned to the franchise beginning in 2014 for several guest appearances on the 2014 sequel series Girl Meets World, which lasted for three seasons on the Disney Channel and starred Rowan Blanchard as Cory and Topanga's daughter. Prior to his late-career stardom on Boy Meets World, Daniels was known for his Emmy-winning role as Mark Craig on the medical drama St. Elsewhere. On film, he played Dustin Hoffman's father in The Graduate (1969), despite Hoffman only being 10 years his junior. Daniels also had a major comedic supporting part in the Audrey Hepburn and Albert Finney–starring Two For The Road (1967). One of his lead roles was as John Adams in the 1972 film adaptation of the popular historical musical 1776.

Margot Robbie talks motherhood for the first time nine months after welcoming son with husband Tom Ackerley

Margot Robbie has shared her first comments about motherhood, nine months after welcoming her first child with husband Tom Ackerley. The Barbie star, 35, gave birth to her son in October 2024, and on Wednesday, she described being a mom as 'the best' in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. The blonde beauty was promoting her new movie, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, when she opened up about becoming a mom for the first time. 'It's like, [when] you try to explain to someone who has kids, you don't need to because they get it, and if they don't, it's probably just really boring to hear,' she said. 'So, it's kind of like, "It's the best," you know?' the actress added. The two new parents are said to be over the moon with their son. 'They waited a long time to get pregnant, so it was almost unbelievable when the baby actually arrived,' an insider told People in November. 'They've both been settling into being parents. They're homebodies so it's been lovely to spend the time just them, at home with him,' the insider added. 'They're so happy.' Margot's pregnancy was made public in July, and the couple enjoyed a romantic 'babymoon' to Sardinia, Italy, at the end of August. The couple welcomed their son in October, and have yet to reveal their child's name. They got married in 2016 and are co-producers on a number of projects, including Hulu's Dollface, through their production company LuckyChap Entertainment. On Wednesday, Margot looked stunning as she joined her co-star Colin Farrell at a photocall for A Big Bold Beautiful Journey in Los Angeles. The actress wore a semi-sheer mini dress, that featured a corset top, for the event which took place at Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills. Romantic fantasy flick A Big Bold Beautiful Journey is set for release in the US and UK on September 19. The movie tells the story of Sarah (Robbie) and David (Farrell), who meet at a mutual friend's wedding and are soon swept up in an otherworldly adventure to relive their past milestone moments together. Sony Pictures has released the first trailer in June for the film, that follows the two strangers on a bizarre journey through their own pasts. They discover a strange door in the woods that is somehow a portal to their pasts, as they relive their core memories together, like David's unrequited love and Sarah's mother dying. The film also stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Hamish Linklater, Lily Rabe, Billy Magnussen and Jodie Turner-Smith, and hits cinemas on September 19. Fans are already showering praise on the movie after the first footage was released, with some even calling it the 'movie of the year'. Margot has been very busy despite sensationally announcing in 2023 that she would be stepping back from acting for a stint. As well as appearing in A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, the actress has been filming Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights adaptation alongside fellow Aussie Jacob Elordi. Margot is also producing the classic via her production company LuckyChap Entertainment. The Suicide Squad alum previously said she was planning on hitting the breaks following the success of her lead role in Barbie. The movie tells the story of Sarah (Robbie) and David (Farrell), who meet at a mutual friend's wedding and are soon swept up in an otherworldly adventure to relive their past milestone moments together Speaking to Deadline, she said she intended to work off-screen after years of building her acting portfolio. She added that she wanted to take a break from starring in movies as she thinks everyone is 'sick' of seeing her after her role in Greta Gerwig's blockbuster. 'I also think everyone's probably sick of the sight of me for now. I should probably disappear from screens for a while,' she said. 'Honestly, if I did another movie too soon, people would say, "Her again? We just did a whole summer with her. We're over it." I don't know what I'll do next, but I hope it's a little while away.'

Giants QB Jameis Winston goes viral for whacky warm up before Patriots game

Jameis Winston sent NFL fans into hysterics on Thursday night as he performed an unconventional pregame routine. Winston and the Giants were preparing to face the Patriots in their final preseason game at MetLife Stadium when the veteran quarterback was captured by doing a wacky warmup on the field. The passer practiced his throwing motion while swinging a towel in his hand as he traveled the length of the endzone. And fans had a range of humorous reactions to the moment, which was posted by the NFL's official X account. 'Funniest guy in the NFL,' one wrote. 'Here he go with the shenanigans,' another said with laughing-crying emojis. no context Jameis Watch NEvsNYG— 8pm ET on Prime Video Also streaming on @NFLPlus — NFL (@NFL) August 21, 2025 'Me when a fly gets in the house and my Yorkie goes nuts,' a third cracked. And a fourth said: 'Some nights you watch football, some nights football watches Jameis.' The video has garnered over 174k views on X at the time of writing. The whimsical Winston, who has become known for his epic pregame speeches in the past, has become a locker room favorite in New York after the team signed him this offseason. However, there's been suggestions that the Giants could elect to trade him amid rookie Jaxson Dart's impressive preseason, which could see him overtake Winston as the team's No. 2 passer behind Russell Wilson. However, assistant GM Brandon Brown recently made it clear that the team had no intentions of moving the veteran. 'I appreciate people that are interested, but Jameis is a New York Giant,' Brown told reporters this week. 'With the way that he's gone about his business from day one, he's made it very intentional with the fact that he wants to be here and he wants to be here for the long haul.' Dart got the start against the Patriots on Thursday night, exiting with 81 passing yards and a touchdowns before Winston added a score in the first quarter as well. Winston found Jalin Hyatt for a 27-yard touchdown along the sideline to give the Giants a 14-0 lead at the time. The Giants open their regular season at the Commanders on September 7.
