VIDEO: Hezbollah rejects timeline to disarm

Hezbollah's Secretary-General, Naim Qassem, declared on Tuesday that the group would not agree to any timetable for disarmament while "Israeli aggression" against Lebanon continues, as he stated.
His remarks came during a televised speech at a memorial event held by Hezbollah for an Iranian commander. Qassem rejected any proposal to disarm under current conditions, stating:
'Any proposed timeline to be implemented under the shadow of Israeli aggression is unacceptable to us.'
He further urged the Lebanese state to focus on protecting the country rather than weakening the resistance.
'The state should create plans to confront pressure and threats, and ensure protection, not strip the resistance of its power and capabilities,' he said.

'Israeli' smear campaign aims to justify murdering journalist Anas al-Sharif

Seven Palestinian journalists, including Al Jazeera reporters Anas al-Sharif and Mohammad Qureiqa, as well as photographers Ibrahim Zaher and Mohammad Nofal, were confirmed killed in an 'Israeli' airstrike targeting Gaza City. This tragic loss has drawn international condemnation amid an escalating humanitarian crisis. Since the onset of the 'Israeli' assault on Gaza, 'Israeli' military spokesperson Avichay Adraee and affiliated social media accounts have launched a sustained and systematic campaign to demonize Anas al-Sharif, who has become a very prominent and credible journalist. 'Israeli' army claimed that al-Sharif held a senior role in Hamas's military wing and accused him of orchestrating rocket attacks against civilians. These allegations have been widely discredited by press freedom organizations and human rights advocates. The incitement against al-Sharif intensified markedly starting July 2025, with Adraee posting provocative videos and inflammatory messages targeting the journalist. This smear campaign extended beyond Adraee himself to a network of social media accounts which amplify these false accusations alongside defamatory language designed to tarnish al-Sharif's reputation and provoke public hostility. In a recent in-depth interview, al-Sharif revealed that this orchestrated incitement is intended to hold him responsible for any harm he might encounter, effectively justifying potential violence against him. This tactic fits a broader pattern employed by the Israeli military, which has in the past labeled Palestinian journalists as 'terrorists' prior to lethal strikes, most notably seen in the killing of Al Jazeera Mubasher journalist Hossam Shabat in 2025 following similar accusations. The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) had described the threat to al-Sharif as 'acute,' warning that such baseless allegations are often precursors to targeted killings. The campaign against him had already had devastating personal consequences: in December 2023, an 'Israeli' airstrike killed his elderly father weeks after al-Sharif had received threats from 'Israeli' officials demanding he halt his reporting. International voices have strongly condemned the smear campaign. UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Opinion and Expression Irene Khan denounced the accusations as 'baseless' and a direct threat to the journalist's life. She warned that 'Israel's' strategy aims to silence critical reporting by systematically obstructing and targeting journalists in Gaza, creating a near-total information blackout amid ongoing hostilities. The killing of these journalists marks a grave escalation in the dangers faced by media professionals in Gaza, underscoring the urgent need for international protection of press freedom and accountability for attacks on journalists reporting from conflict zones.

Jazeera condemns 'Israeli' killing of Gaza reporters Anas Sharif, Mohammed Qraiqea

Al Jazeera has issued a strong statement following the assassination of its journalists Anas Sharif and Mohammed Qraiqea by the Israeli Occupation Forces in Gaza. The network described the killing of its reporters as a blatant and deliberate attack on press freedom. It held the 'Israeli' military and government responsible for targeting and murdering members of its journalistic team. The 'Israeli' army explicitly acknowledged targeting the Al Jazeera press tent near the Al-Shifa Hospital complex. This attack occurred amid a horrific humanitarian crisis caused by the ongoing 'Israeli' aggression, which has witnessed numerous massacres. The network said that the "killing of Anas Al-Sharif, one of Gaza's bravest journalists, and his colleague was a desperate attempt to silence voices ahead of a potential 'Israeli' occupation of Gaza." Al Jazeera highlighted that several 'Israeli' military officials had repeatedly incited violence and calls to target Anas Al-Sharif and his team. Sharif and his colleagues were among the last remaining voices reporting Gaza's tragic reality to the world. Despite living under siege, facing hunger and hardship themselves, the journalists courageously provided live and shocking testimonies of the war's atrocities throughout the aggression, Al Jazeera concluded.

Prominent Gazan journalist: 'If these words reach you, Israel succeeded in killing me'

Palestinian journalist Anas al-Sharif, who was killed in an 'Israeli' airstrike just before midnight on August 10, 2025, left behind a heartfelt final message that was shared posthumously. In his will, al-Sharif reflects on a life dedicated to bearing witness to the suffering of his people, from the streets of Jabalia refugee camp where he grew up to the frontline of the Gaza aggression. Despite facing pain, loss, and continuous threats, he vowed never to distort the truth or silence the voices of the oppressed. Addressing his readers, he wrote: "If these words reach you, know that Israel succeeded in killing me and silencing my voice." Al-Sharif entrusted his love for Palestine and its people to those who read his message, especially its children - innocent victims of relentless bombardment and violence. He urged others not to be silenced by restrictions or borders but to become bridges toward liberation and dignity for their homeland. He also left personal messages to his family - his beloved wife, Bayan, his daughter Sham, and his son Salah - asking for their care and strength after his passing. Concluding with a prayer, he expressed faith in justice beyond this life: "If I die, I die steadfast on principle, content with God's judgment, believing in meeting Him, and certain that what God has is better and everlasting." Anas al-Sharif's final words are a poignant reminder of the courage and humanity of journalists risking everything to tell the truth amid war and oppression. "This is my will, my final message. If my words reach you, know that Israel succeeded in killing me and silencing my voice. Peace and mercy of God be upon you all. God knows that I gave all my effort and strength to be a support and voice for my people, ever since I opened my eyes to life in the alleys and streets of Jabalia refugee camp. My hope was that God would grant me a long life to return with my family and loved ones to our hometown, Ashkelon (Al-Majdal), which remains occupied. But God's will was swifter, and His judgment decisive. I lived the pain in all its details and tasted loss again and again. Yet I never hesitated to convey the truth as it is, without falsification or distortion, hoping that God would witness those who stayed silent, those who accepted our killing, those who suffocated our breaths, and whose hearts were unmoved by the scattered remains of our children and women, and who did not stop the massacre our people have suffered for over a year and a half. I entrust Palestine to you; the jewel of the Muslim crown and the pulse of every free heart in this world. I entrust its people and its oppressed little children, who were not given a chance to dream or live in safety and peace. Their pure bodies were crushed by thousands of tons of Israeli bombs and rockets, torn apart, and scattered on the walls. I urge you not to let chains silence you, nor borders restrain you. Be bridges toward liberating the land and its people until the sun of dignity and freedom rises over our stolen land. I entrust my family to you with kindness. I entrust you with the apple of my eye, my beloved daughter Sham, whom I did not live long enough to see grow as I dreamed. I entrust you with my dear son Salah, whom I wished to be a support and companion on the path until he grows strong, carrying my burdens and continuing the mission. I entrust you with my beloved mother, whose prayers brought me this far. Her prayers were my fortress, and her light my path. I pray God to strengthen her heart and reward her greatly on my behalf. I also entrust you with my lifelong companion, my beloved wife, Umm Salah Bayan. War separated us for long days and months, but she remained steadfast, like an olive tree trunk that does not bend; patient and faithful. She carried the trust in my absence with strength and faith. I urge you to stand by them and be their support after God Almighty. If I die, I die steadfast on principle, content with God's judgment, believing in meeting Him, and certain that what God has is better and everlasting. O God, accept me among the martyrs, forgive my past and future sins, and make my blood a light that illuminates the path of freedom for my people and family. Forgive me if I have fallen short, and pray for my mercy, for I have remained true to my pledge, never changing or abandoning it. Do not forget Gaza… And do not forget me in your sincere prayers for forgiveness and acceptance. Anas Jamal Al-Sharif April 6, 2025"
