ACB intensifies Formula E probe, seeks access to KTR's devices

Hans India18-06-2025
Hyderabad: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), currently investigating alleged irregularities in the Formula E Race, has intensified its inquiry. Officials have instructed BRS working president K T Rama Rao to hand over his mobile phones and laptops to the agency by Wednesday.
The BRS working president had previously undergone questioning by ACB officials just a day before, during which he was grilled for over seven hours. The interrogation primarily focused on payments made to the private company without the government's explicit consent. Now, on Tuesday, officials have formally requested the BRS leader's mobile phones and laptops. K T Rama Rao, who had publicly stated his willingness to attend the inquiry even if summoned a hundred times, informed officials that he would make a decision regarding the handover of his devices only after consulting legal experts. Meanwhile, the BRS party's social media convener, Y Satish Reddy, expressed surprise at the ACB's request for KTR's phones as part of the Formula E investigation.
He suggested that this action appears to be taken under directives from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Reddy asserted that it is clear ACB officials requested KTR's phone because Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was overseeing the situation from the command control room and issued the order. However, he questioned why KTR should hand over his personal phones, arguing that the Formula E Race case was not a personal matter but a government transaction.
He emphasised that the Formula E Race was organised with government permission and as per a cabinet decision. Satish Reddy further stated that the money paid to the Formula E Race Company was transferred from the government treasury through official bank channels.
All matters related to the organisation of the race, he added, were conducted legally in accordance with government decisions and agreements. He then questioned why the agencies would need KTR's personal phone. According to Article 21 and the IT Act 2000, he claimed, there was no legal basis to request a personal phone number without a criminal case or a specific court order. By this action, he argued, the Revanth Reddy government was effectively admitting that the Formula E case was merely politically motivated and intended to politically harass KTR. He pointed out that all transaction documents were held by the government, and the Formula E Race had been a success, attracting investments and benefiting the state.

KTR accuses BJP, NDSA of adopting ‘double standards'

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Saturday accused the BJP and the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) of adopting double standards. He pointed out that when some pillars of the Medigadda barrage sank in 2023, there was a strong reaction. "However, now the cofferdam of the Polavaram project has sunk and is being repaired quietly in Andhra Pradesh," he claimed. KTR also questioned why, even after 20 months, the Congress govt has not initiated repair works on Medigadda. In a post on X, the BRS leader recalled that both Congress and BJP mocked the Kaleshwaram project as 'Kooleshwaram' when the pillars in Block 7 of the Medigadda barrage sank. "Now that the Polavaram cofferdam has sunk for the second time, will they call it 'Koolavaram'?" he asked. "In 2020, the diaphragm wall of the Polavaram project was washed away due to heavy floods. Now, the cofferdam has sunk to a depth of nearly eight feet and a width of 10 feet," he alleged. "The BJP govt at the Centre had sent an NDSA team to Telangana within 24 hours of the Medigadda incident, mainly to corner the then BRS govt. However, they are not talking about the Polavaram dam," he alleged. KTR said that the Polavaram cofferdam is being constructed by the NDA govt, which granted national project status, but both the NDSA and the Centre have remained silent on the matter. ‘Not a single rupee released…': Cong MLA flags Telangana govt's inaction over ‘uncleared bills'

A Congress MLA in Telangana on Friday took a swipe at his own government's alleged inaction in clearing pending bills for development works. Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy(Facebook/Komatireddy Reddy) According to an NDTV report, MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, without naming Revanth Reddy, said these clearances require the chief minister's approval. He was speaking during an event to celebrate the Independence Day in his constituency Munugode. "You take the posts, but do you also take the money? Take the positions, but pay the contractors who have done the work. Don't do injustice to the people of Munugode," Komatireddy Reddy said. Further clarifying that he is not neither criticising the chief minister or his party, Komatireddy Reddy alleged that 'not a single rupee has been released for roads or buildings". 'The contractor refuses to continue work on the Veligonda-Choutuppal road project because bills have not been cleared. These clearances require the chief minister's approval. That is why I raised this concern directly to him. I am not criticising either the chief minister or the party... Not a single rupee has been released for roads or buildings,' NDTV quoted him as saying. "Even after repeated requests and numerous attempts to approach ministers, there has been no response. Should I not question whether posts and funds are being monopolised?" he added. According to the report, the MLA has recently spoken out against the state leadership, but this time, his remarks targeting Revanth Reddy have caused unease among Congress leaders. The NDTV report further said that Congress's state disciplinary action committee has taken note of RKomatireddy Rajgopal Reddy's comments and its chairman, Mallu Ravi, is likely to meet him. Revanth Reddy's swipe Earlier this week, Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy had taken an indirect swipe at Rajagopal Reddy, according to NDTV. "In politics, out of ten people who want to sit on the same chair, nine will be disappointed. Whether they are from a family, caste, region, or you will show disappointment... It could cause harm to you, us, the state and nation," the chief minister had said.
