Police investigate as Irishwoman found dead on boat in New York yacht club
Martha Nolan-O'Slatarra (33) was found unconscious on a boat at the exclusive Montauk Yacht Club in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Ms Nolan-O'Slatarra was originally from Carlow town. She worked in Ireland until 2015 before emigrating to the United States. She set up her own brand East x East, a luxury brand wear for sunglasses, swimwear and resort wear for men and women.
She recently posted on her TikTok images of her pop-up East x East shop at Gurney's Resort in the Hamptons. She promised that she would be organising brand events and pool parties during the summer in the Hamptons.

Her cause of death is still under investigation and will be determined by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office.
A police statement said: 'East Hampton Town Police responded to a 911 call from a man reporting a woman unconscious on a boat docked at the Montauk Yacht Club, on Star Island Road, at approximately 12am. Good Samaritans attempted to perform CPR on the woman.
'Martha Nolan-O'Slatarra, 33, of Manhattan, was pronounced dead on the boat by first responders.'
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade said it is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance.
'As with all consular cases, the Department does not comment on the details of individual cases,' a statement said.
A Montauk Yacht Club spokesperson said: 'We are saddened to learn of the tragic incident that took place. Our team is cooperating with law enforcement in their ongoing investigation and remains committed to the safety and well-being of our guests and staff. We have no further comment at this time.'
Ms Nolan-O'Slatarra earned a commerce degree from UCD and an MA in digital marketing from the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, according to her LinkedIn profile.

The Co Carlow woman found dead on a yacht in New York state was a designer and entrepreneur who left Ireland nine years ago and became very successful in the fashion business. Martha Nolan-O' Slatarra (33), a loungewear and swimwear designer, was from Monacurragh, Blackbog Road, close to Carlow town. The results of a preliminary examination into the cause of her death were deemed 'inconclusive', police said. A postmortem examination 'did not show evidence of violence and her final cause of death is pending further examination', a statement from Suffolk County Police said late on Wednesday. It is understood that both she and her sister Jacqui moved with their mother Eleanor 'Elma' Nolan from Carlow to the Dublin/Wicklow border. Her mother's family are a well-known and highly respected farming family. Ms Nolan-O'Slatarra worked in Ireland until 2015 before emigrating to the United States. She set up East x East, a luxury brand for sunglasses, swimwear and resort wear for men and women. She was also director of operations at investment firm K4 Capital and ran Duper, a fashion brand. Ms Nolan-O'Slatarra kept in contact with her many Carlow-based friends. A family who moved from Bagenalstown to the US helped her set up her business in Montauk. She lived in Manhattan's upper east side and had recently celebrated her brand's pop-up shop on the beach in Long Island's Hamptons. It is believed that two men on a nearby boat performed CPR on the Carlow woman. She was later pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services. Gardaí begin murder investigation following man's death in Carrick-on-Suir
Gardaí have begun a murder investigation into the death of Ian Walsh at his home in Co Tipperary earlier this week. Mr Walsh (49) was found in his home at Ravenswood, on the Cregg Road in Carrick-on-Suir by family members at about 2am on Monday. The avid rail enthusiast and worker was unresponsive and sustained several visible injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services a short time later. A postmortem examination was completed on his remains on Wednesday and gardaí in Clonmel have now confirmed that their investigation has been upgraded to murder. Mr Walsh worked as a signal man at Kent Station in Cork, having previously worked in catering with Irish Rail on its Waterford service and as an instructor at the Irish Rail Training School at Inchicore. Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them In particular, they are asking for anyone who saw anything out of the ordinary, or who has dashcam footage, in the Cregg Road area between 8pm last Friday when he was last seen alive, and 3.30am on Monday when they arrived on the scene. Members of the public are being asked to contact Clonmel Garda station on (052) 617 7640, via the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or at any other Garda station. Iarnród Éireann paid tribute to Mr Walsh, who was well known among staff and train enthusiasts for his work in helping to record Ireland's rail heritage, particularly in the south and southeast. 'All of us in Iarnród Éireann are shocked and saddened at Ian's passing. Ian was a well-known and popular colleague across the company, both in his working life in roles from catering to signalling, and for his passion for railway and transport tourism and heritage,' it said. 'Our thoughts are with his family, and his friends in the railway and beyond, at this difficult time.' Rail heritage group Táilte Tours also paid tribute to Mr Walsh, saying he had been a huge supporter of the group and of Ireland's rich railway heritage for many years. 'Ian ran five rail tours of his own over the course of the mid to late 2000s and was very much a pioneer in 'outside the box' tours in Ireland, starting them from locations such as Waterford and Limerick, in an era when tours were generally based in Dublin or Belfast,' it said. 'He was more than happy to pass his experience and expertise on when we started operations a few years ago; for those of you who enjoyed the 'surprise' rare track moves on our Cork-based railtours, you can thank Ian, who went far beyond the extra mile to ensure our operations went off without a hitch. 'He had a wonderful knowledge of the Iarnród Éireann system and its people, and had also developed a passion for Bus Éireann operations, diligently recording the last runs on several rural routes in the southeast as they disappeared, quickly becoming a friend to bus drivers in the Cork and Waterford areas.'
