UK's priciest fish and chips is sold for eye-watering sum and no one can finish it
There's nothing like tucking into a portion of fish and chips when you are hungry or by the seaside. People have been rushing to this village chippy to get their hands on what is said to be the UK's most expensive fish and chips, but many have been put off by the price. The enormous treat has even seen people from the US travelling over to try it.
The 2.2kg battered fillet - a staggering 1.9kg bigger than a typical battered fish - from Archie's Fish and Chips in Thanet, Kent, has become a viral sensation. However, it'll set customers back a whopping £65 - and people struggle to finish it. The feast is called 'the Big Fish Meal' and is perfect for sharing as it includes the huge fish, four portions of chips, four sides, four drinks and bread and butter.
Alex and Natalie Bovalyaev, who have been running the chippy for 11 years with the help of their son and daughter, originally created the giant fish meal for their friends.
They thought it would be a one-off but decided to test it on customers - and they haven't looked back; people love it.
Alex told KentOnline: "It's bringing more customers in, as I think people enjoy something unusual. Because it's such a big piece and so chunky, I wasn't sure if it would come out OK. But after it's fried, it comes out very nice."
Millions of people have watched clips online of people trying to tackle the giant fish. "Our customers are loving their Big Fish Meal," Archies Fish Shop said on Instagram recently as they shared a video of a family loving the treat. They even had to use a bread knife to cut the fish because of its size.
"That batter looks amazing, the crunch is everything," commented one individual. One other said: "Wow. That's amazing. My dream meal."
"Wow that looks incredible," added another. Another wrote: "That looks so delicious. I love good fish and chips."
"Now that's what I call fish and chips," said one other. Another said: "This would feed a whole football team."
One fish and chip fan said: "I could and would eat that whole plate myself… I still think about the fish and chips I had when I first arrived in England many years ago." "If I ever visit the UK - so getting lunch here," insisted one other.
On TikTok, one individual said: "Over 4000 miles away! I'm going!" On Trip Advisor one individual said it is "the best chippy dinner" they have ever had.
Commenting on the price on social media, another said: "£65 that's actually pretty decent considering the prices of everything nowadays in London."
While groups have managed to finish off the giant meal, Alex and Natalie said no one has managed the whole meal on their own yet.
And it isn't so easy sourcing the giant fish either. "Sometimes we're lucky, but sometimes we don't get any big sizes," Alex admitted.

Vicky Pattison hit by major blow amid Strictly Come Dancing rumours
Vicky Pattison hit by major blow amid Strictly Come Dancing rumours Former Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison is reportedly one of the first celebrities to have signed up for the 23rd series of Strictly, but has been warned to put her health first Vicky Pattison has reportedly signed up for Strictly (Image: Mike Marsland, Mike Marsland/WireImagevia Getty Images) Vicky Pattison's hopes of lifting the Strictly Glitterball trophy may already be in jeopardy, following a serious health setback for the former Geordie Shore start. Sources suggest the beloved TV personality remains committed to reaching the dance floor, though she must prioritise her physical health over her professional aspirations. The 37-year-old, who won I'm A Celebrity a decade ago, revealed that she was left practically bed bound last week after developing a trapped nerve in her back whilst undertaking a charity expedition in Iceland. Taking to social media with the news, Vicky explained her susceptibility to this agonising condition, especially during the colder seasons – confessing she could "barely move". With her name reportedly at the forefront of this year's anticipated Strictly sign-ups, insiders suggest the timing couldn't be more unfortunate, reports the Mirror. "She was desperately worried that this wasn't only not going to go away but that it could get worse," they told the Mirror. They add: "Vicky isn't a complainer, so when she says something feels bad, she means it. But she's also a really tough person and has already shown that she can cope with pretty much anything – one thing she's not, is a quitter. She needs to make sure she looks after herself though, that will be the most important thing." They continue: "Strictly has been the number one show on her wish list for years, especially after she went to watch her bestie Pete [Wicks] on it last year. This would be her time to shine and she knows that second chances don't come around often." Vicky's trapped nerve developed following her challenging trek in Iceland with the breast cancer charity CoppaFeel! The condition occurs when excessive pressure is placed on a nerve by surrounding bone or muscle, with symptoms including numbness, aching or burning pain and muscle weakness. Vicky appeared in the crowd during last year's series to support her friend Pete Wicks (Image: PA) Speaking to her 5.5m Instagram followers, Vicky revealed she was unfortunately well-acquainted with the excruciating pain, sharing, "It happens mostly in the winter when I'm cold and all hunched over and tight. "It obviously happened in the trek last week. And I'm just feeling it now because my body has relaxed for the first time in a week. But I can barely bloody move." The timing proves particularly unfortunate for Vicky, the source continues, as it follows shortly after she was unofficially revealed as amongst the first celebrities prepared to commit to the 23rd Strictly series, which begins filming later this summer. The beloved dance competition has encountered its own controversies recently, including allegations of behind-the-scenes bullying and the exits of Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima from the professional roster. Last week, it was revealed that the show's executives were considering offering rehabilitation services to two of its stars following allegations of backstage cocaine use. The Sun newspaper reported that producers are contemplating implementing random drug tests for next year's Strictly Live tour. In response to these claims, a BBC spokesperson stated, "We have clear protocols and policies in place for dealing with any serious complaint raised with us. We would always encourage people to speak to us if they have concerns. It would not be appropriate for us to comment further." Vicky, who hosts a Saturday afternoon programme on Heart radio, is an avid fan of Strictly and was even spotted in the audience last year, enthusiastically cheering on her close friend Pete Wicks. Despite previously confessing that she'd rather "stand in the corner, drink and have a laugh" than hit the dance floor, our insider suggests it's time for Vicky to step into the Strictly limelight – provided she can regain her peak health. "She was in terrible pain with this trapped nerve, and really doesn't want it to mean the end of something she's dreamed about doing. She's watched Strictly for years but she had never felt as confident in herself as she does today – so the timing was worrying. "Dealing with health issues unfortunately isn't new to her, either, but it means she does know how to listen to her body and take care of herself." Vicky, who tied the knot with her long-term partner Ercan Ramadan last year, has previously opened up about her prolonged struggle to receive a diagnosis for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), a condition that triggers insomnia, anxiety, depressive thoughts, and physical discomfort. Article continues below "She's literally feeling all the emotions right now – Strictly isn't a walk in the park," an insider claims. "It's gruelling on the body and the mind, so she needs both to be in excellent condition. But she's a tough cookie so friends and family are convinced she'll do well. She's one determined lady – if anyone can do this, Vicky can."

Marie's mum, 63-year-old Christine (6ft 5in), used to work as an emergency operator but now spends her days taking snaps of her UK men's size 13 trotters to sell online. Meanwhile, basketball brothers Troy, 27, and Shane, 29 – who are the tallest at 6ft 10in and 6ft 9in – are in competition with each other to see who can bank the most bucks. Right now, Troy is in the lead with $100,000 (£74k) annual earnings compared to Sean's $50,000 (£37k) a year. Dad, and former electrician, Michael, 65 (6ft 3in), quit his job after making $50,000 (£37k) sharing behind-the-scenes content with his family 'It's been my dream to live and work with my family and see them every day – I love it,' said Marie, who has three million Instagram followers, @marietemara. 'There's a bit of rivalry between my brothers, but because I'm a woman, I'm expected to make the most money – since short kings love a tall girl. 'They're just grateful to benefit from their height in any way they can. 'We definitely didn't have that much money growing up. 'It was pretty hard, but my parents did a really good job of giving us everything that we needed. I used to hate my height but now it's a niche that rakes me in £100k a year 'They just never had any money to buy anything for themselves and always put us first. 'That's why I love to see them doing so well now – and having so much fun with it!' Although Marie's content is on the saucier side, she makes family-friendly videos with her parents and brothers. The model was the inspiration for the family's success, having first signed up to OnlyFans four years ago after quitting her $100,000 a year accounting job. Christine and Michael were both making $35,000 (£26k) a year in their respective 9-to-5 jobs when they signed up to the site. She said: 'My parents both hated their jobs. 'They were overworked and underpaid. 'My mom was always stressed out with the long shift work hours, and my dad was sick of driving over two hours to work every day for minimum wage. 6 Marie is actually the shortest in her family with her mum Christine 6ft 5in and has size 13 feet Credit: Jam Press/@MarieTemara 6 Marie makes over £7 million a year by posting photos online Credit: Jam Press/@MarieTemara 'I'm really lucky that they have all been supportive since day one. 'At first, it was just me filming by myself, but I was living at home and my parents were always around, so they would pop into the background or help me set up shots. 'Eventually, I started asking them to join in little skits, and they were such naturals; it just made sense to keep going. 'I thought they'd say no or be embarrassed, but honestly, they were all up for it straight away. 'My mum was excited, my dad thought it was hilarious, and my brothers saw it as a fun challenge. 'One of the first videos we did together was a height comparison where we all stood in a line, tallest to shortest – which is still pretty tall 'We also did a skit where we pretended to struggle to fit into regular-sized furniture, and people went crazy for it. They also do other pranks, dances and skits about everyday struggles that tall people face. Marie, from Florida, US, likes spending time with her parents so much that they've recently purchased two properties next door to each other.
