Former Real Madrid midfielder explains what will decide the Copa del Rey final – 'The forwards must have…'
Former Real Madrid midfielder Alvaro Benito has issued a passionate reminder to those underestimating Los Blancos ahead of their highly anticipated Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.
While Real Madrid's season has been marked by inconsistency and questions surrounding their form, Benito insists the club's pedigree and relentless spirit make them impossible to discount in a final of such magnitude.

'With this team, you always have to be optimistic. I always believe that when they go into a match, they will win it,' he said on Cadena SER (h/t Mundo Deportivo).
Pressure on Real Madrid and Barcelona
The former midfielder underlined the immense pressure and significance of the fixture, describing it as a must-win for Carlo Ancelotti's men, who are desperate to end the season on a high.
Despite Barcelona's handful of shortcomings, Benito acknowledges the physical threat Hansi Flick's side can pose but maintains that Madrid must bring their trademark aggression, intensity, and ruthlessness to the pitch.

'Barça, although they have slowed down a bit physically, have to face a team that's aggressive.
'They have to run a lot and well, attack the back of the defence, and be a very effective team. Quality has to come out of Real Madrid, no matter what,' he noted.
Players need to step up
That quality, Benito believes, lies in the hands of Real Madrid's electric front line, which will include Vinicius Jr., Jude Bellingham, and their newest attacking weapon, Kylian Mbappe.

'The forwards must have a good day in generosity, effort, and precision up front. The quality of Mbappé, Vinicius, and Bellingham must emerge,' he said.
Lastly, Benito also praised Vinicius's wish to renew his contract, calling him 'one of the best players in the world' and highlighting his unique qualities.
With Mbappe now part of the squad, the former midfielder emphasised the importance of a strong connection between the two superstars:
'Their synergy on the pitch will be vital for the team. They have to make each other better and work for the collective success,' he concluded.

Former Real Madrid defender reflects on painful memories at the club – ‘They screwed my life'
Former Real Madrid defender reflects on painful memories at the club – 'They screwed my life' Ivan Helguera, a key figure in one of Real Madrid's golden eras, recently opened up about his football career on the Offsiders podcast. The former Spanish international gave a raw and personal account of how he was signed, his early fears, and the emotional rollercoaster he experienced during his final years at the club. Advertisement Helguera revealed that his move to Real Madrid was unexpectedly shaped by a personal interaction with Fernando Hierro. 'Espanyol and Real Madrid were meeting at the airport, and Hierro called me over. I knew him from the national team. He told me to leave Espanyol and join Madrid. 'That was it. I wasn't thinking about Rayo or any other option. He was one of my idols,' Helguera shared. Emotional weight of playing for Real Madrid Ivan Helguera made a strong start for Real Madrid. (Photo by Martin Rose/Bongarts/Getty Images) Speaking about the emotional weight of playing for a club like Madrid, he recalled how hard it was to adapt. 'I arrived shy, full of fear and expectation. At Madrid, if you are too kind or reserved, the locker room can swallow you whole. You've got to step up, or you'll be eaten alive.' He also compared his playing style to current Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni, explaining, 'I did a lot of things you couldn't see. I covered space, supported others. Advertisement 'Just like people say about Tchouaméni today, he has presence without flash. I had that, too, until I eventually stood out in a big game.' (Picture courtesy: Shaun Botterill /Allsport) While Helguera's early years were full of promise, his final seasons were marked by frustration and emotional pain. He claimed he was mistreated by then-sporting director Predrag Mijatovic and ignored by the club president. 'I had just won the league and was told I wouldn't play again. Capello told me I'd be training with the reserves. 'But he wasn't stupid, he saw my value. I fought back, played games, and we won the league again. I ended up being the sixth most-used player that year.' Despite his performances, the following season was no better. 'Mijatovic told me straight that they'd take away my shirt number and make my life miserable. Advertisement 'I didn't even go to meetings anymore. I couldn't handle the tension. Eventually, Valencia came in, and that was the end of it. 'Emotionally, I was screwed. My head told me they were screwing me and screwing my life up. The president didn't even greet me,' he noted.

Luis Diaz confirms SURPRISE transfer talks
Luis Diaz's Colombia is set to take on Peru tomorrow night and ahead of the game he was in a press conference where he was asked about his future at Liverpool. "I'm very happy at Liverpool," Diaz said. Advertisement "I've always said so. We're talking with other clubs. It's the transfer market, it's normal. We're waiting to see what happens and we're looking at the best for us. "If they [Liverpool] offer us a good renewal or I stay there for the two years [of current contract], I'll be happy. Now it's up to them." This is a very interesting comment from Diaz. It confirms that he is in talks with other clubs at the moment. So interest from Barcelona could indeed be true. Although because Diaz said the plural 'clubs' it might mean that he's in talks with more than just one team. This opens up the possibility of other European clubs and even Saudi Arabian sides could try to poach him away from the Reds. Advertisement Obviously, based on his remarks it's important to note that he's content with Liverpool. He made that clear. However, mentioning the fact that he is in talks with other clubs, would suggest that he's at least considering his future away from Merseyside as well. The situation is a developing one. Liverpool will be reluctant to lose Diaz, but for the right price, the club will have to consider it. The left-wing market does offer up a few interesting players for Liverpool, with the likes of Anthony Gordon, Rafael Leao or Bradley Barcola potentially being available.

The subject of attacker Raba's future has long proven a prominent talking point across the Spanish football landscape. Advertisement This comes with the 29-year-old's contract terms with the relegated Leganés due to come to an official end on the 30th of June. Raba, for his part, is fresh off a fine individual campaign, which saw the winger, despite Leganés' collective struggles, rack up nine goals and five assists in 33 appearances between La Liga and the Copa del Rey. Such production had given rise to widespread interest in his signature, with a player of such quality becoming available on a free transfer too good an opportunity to pass up. And as alluded to above, on Thursday, one such suitor have won out in the race for Raba's services.
